As concerned as we should be English only concerned with not doing certain behaviors and certainly absolutely the model very clearly how I'm clear on what we should also be that were doing the right things that were doing the things that were loving God, loving life lesson here for sanity is not only about keep them from doing bad deeds but is also about doing good looking to cross the bridge would be.

David is the senior pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, North Carolina.

As we dive deeper into God's will.

Bible study should be in the Bible. Find out why this is important to Davis.

Pastor David continues in the book of Romans chapter 2 get into today's teaching from beginning to in the Bible shows the special nature of God's relationship with the nation. What does that have to do with Romans chapter 11 tells us that God's covenant relationship with Israel has implications for to help you understand Pastor David wants to send you this teaching video recording the whole culture is the Bible. This powerful resource will encourage more and how connected you are with God's Israel, the Bible and you is I would think more donations to help more people on this station and beyond cross the bridge from the so visit cross the.com to request a copy. Again, that's cross the bridge. Now, here's Dave McGee with his teaching Bible were looking at the book of Romans and Paul is writing to the church at Rome. He's not yet been to Rome is writing to encourage the believers there and it's just an incredible book that not only has changed lives. What is it really change human history. Martin Luther, for one, was incredibly impacted by the verses that are in this book John Wycliffe as well and and and many others in so these are people who really started the Reformation hundreds of years ago. Awesome thing is it's the same word of God, the same spirit of God. The change their lives is available this morning. Change your life.

As we look at this answer (Romans chapter 2 verse five is been in accordance with your hardness and with your independent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each one according to his deeds eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality. But to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey run unrighteousness, indignation and wrath tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek. This chapter is it's very judicial in the sense that it was has the feel of the courtroom.

If you will, and each one of us. We want to escape being charged with doing wrong, we don't want something late at her feet that we've done and we got different things that we do to counter help us through this and I want one. The common things is to point out to somebody that's worse than you.

Well you done this, but I haven't done that one may have done that but I didn't do as many times as him or her, but it still never really cleanses us does you never get to that point where you talk about people long enough and talk about about enough for you actually feel cleansed or forgiven scene.

Here's the thing he's he speaking in chapter 2 a lot to the Jewish people because the Jewish people started to take some pride in their religion and their religious activities. Okay. And before you sit here and go all well you know the silly Jewish people timeout because it's also kind of an apt description of American Christianity of you think about people all over this country to take a certain spiritual pride and and going to church are doing this out. Obviously I'm up after I would encourage you to go to church but it just go on the church is is all you do, then friend, you're missing out on a lot, you're missing out on a lot.when you read through the Hebrew Scriptures you see that these Jewish leaders actually killed many of the prophets and obviously some of the leaders were engaged in the execution of Jesus. Not all see that the Bible not all it's interesting because I see as we read chapter 1 and again I just love the balance of the night, not just the individual books but also the order the books fallen but individual what you read chapter 1 and you know it. If you're religious or grown up in a church we don't struggle outwardly with some heavy things like chapter 1. Talk to you read chapter we always mean all you and you get in chapter 2 chapter 2 begins to point out that not only are people chapter 1 guilty but we all stand. Jesus told the story about the prodigal son lot of us may have heard that story before but we review for just a second there was two brothers and one of them decided he wanted his inheritance anyone to go out and party and do whatever and live his own when he goes out, loses money, lives a hard life he winds up his feet and pegs for living which you known a Jewish setting in a Jewish son pigs are unclean. So that was a understand that that that was a really dirty job and he comes back home.

When he comes back home is also glad to hear Winthrop are killing fatted calf another brother stayed home is a serious issue. Can't believe you doing. I've been here I've been faithful.

I never left you. He comes home use on a party. I wonder what the real prodigal son never left home anything Jesus told that story I think I know because a lot of times when God does something really dramatic in somebody's life understand who stands up against that is people within the body. People within the church. Somebody get saved maybe out of a I don't know whatever drugs and alcohol same sex relationship all these things that God can do a credible work. And doesn't work in and who stands up. I don't know they're really saying I don't know what I don't think we should kill the fatted calf.

I don't think we should party and who are we acting like an appointment acting like that son who doesn't look so good in that story, here's the thing. All of us.

All of us. The unrighteous, the self-righteous will fall flat before Lord. None of us can really stand before Lord you know as a pastor, were sitting talking something that's messed up. They won't really debate whether there messing up the struggles come when somebody will sit there and argue whether they really messed up.

Whether there have made mistakes. That's called self-righteousness and self-righteousness. To be honest is probably a lot harder to deal with in the ministry capacity can we talked about the fact there's people that think they have this ministry. The ministry of condemnation that's that's not really a ministry fact God calls our enemy adversaries are so the accuser of the brethren in an energy interesting title but see what happens as we all get very concerned with the sins of other people going. This is the reality we're more comfortable talking about the sins that other people are are the sins of the world are what we see in the newspaper on television than going to God talking about our own personal why is that because when you talk about the sins of other people you don't really have to.

You're not led to action. You're not convicted. You're not convinced that you need to change or does all those people are so messed again.

Jesus tells avoid it very pointed story when he points out that there was two people and in the temple and one of them said oh God, thank you. I'm not like him.

The other was a God. I don't deserve your mercy, but a mask, which one describes you from rethinking that you're not like this person are not like that person you understand that we all fall flat for righteous God we should take a look at our lives and this is what chapter 2 is encouraging. Don't think you've arrived in no longer have problem where we got to the point that we think the church is somewhere you go when you don't have any problems or any issues or you're not struggle with sending you only come to the church when you're perfect you got it all worked out in the standard. In a perfect church. I saw and upset.

I share this before. You know, I wonder what would happen if we put out a sign out there. This is only perfect People allowed what would happen. Would anybody come. I mean besides me know. Cannot cannot, you know, I think some people show up.

I think they would redesign all praise God I finally found there is no perfect church understand that a lot of people roam around the church hopping church shop looking for the perfect church. There's no perfect church is not perfect, past if there was a perfect church. You can because you're not perfect the moment you showed up as a lookout going downhill.

Now he's not perfect that were no longer perfect little round the look in our lives look at our actions want to the Jew first and also to the Greek Jesus said something about witnessing in an making sure that the Jewish people heard about salvation. First, we saw the book back through the ever-expanding circle, but to the Jewish person. There was a responsibility and accountability because they knew the Bible and they knew some of these things.

And again we can sit off and go well you know they should've known that timeout if you've grown up in America you brought up going to church that same responsibility, accountability is for you as well because the more you know, according to the Bible, the more responsibility you you're listening to Pastor David McGee on cross the bridge to be back with more powerful insight from God's word in just a moment but first, God's grace and mercy is greater than any of us could ever fathom. That's why he's been so faithful to the nation of Israel throughout the ages. He's not finished. He's promised to remain true to them to the end. We want to show you what God's faithfulness toward Israel says about his relationship with you by sending you Pastor David's teaching video Israel the Bible and you in this exciting teaching recorded in the heart of the holy land.

Pastor David unpacks important truths from God's relationships with Israel that impact your life today. Israel the Bible and you is our gift to thank you for your donation to help more people on this station and beyond cross the bridge from death to life's visit cross the bridge.com to request yours again. That website is cross the bridge.com, this is Pastor David McGee with cross the bridge and want to thank you for listing the cross the bridge also want to tell you about an exciting website. The website is lost loved ones.org and it works very simply like this you go to the website you put the first names of up to 10 people that we begin praying that they get saved takes two things to get same presentation and prayer, and what were offering is prayer and also there's different tools there to help you present the gospel to them. So were there with you, helping you with the presentation helping you with the prayer.

There's over 920 people that belong to the prayer team on lost loved ones and you can join the prayer team as well and help us to pray for others who don't yet know Jesus and together we can see a huge revival starting with your lost loved ones. Now back to today's teaching first 10 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek glory and honor, honor what you know what happens and you and you hear that word on just servers are honor, I think we all think in a good way, desire, honor it's interesting you know, one of the 10 Commandments. It talks about what honoring your mother and father. That is a obey your mother and father are respect your mother goes way beyond that game. It says to honor the honor that the challenge of think each and everyone of you bring in honor to your mother and father do honor them or you think just enough to respect them or just enough to obey him Bible system on what what is about what else does the Bible say about honor.

First Timothy chapter 5 or 17 says this let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine so there's another place. We've got elders and we got incredible men of God I so blessed to have the men surrounding me that her elders and the and these elders, and occasionally some outcome as they were then edited says receive not an accusation against an elder and lessons in the mouth of two or more witnesses. Why is that because an older house. This place of honor.

So what that saying is you give him the benefit of the doubt to the people in leadership first so and here's the thing in and let's use the new living translation help us with his it says in the new living translation there will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on sinning. For the Jew first and also for the Gentile. But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all those who do good for the Jew first and also for the Gentile is is it. It's a great picture and again the balance of the two verses because here's what happened.

We think of talk about this a lot. Most churches those pastors most teaching talk about the sins that you could admit and you shouldn't do this and you shouldn't do that. The Bible talks about that offer talking about that I'm offered teaching about the sins of commission. But there's also another group is called sins of omission or sins that you the Bible says if you know what to do if you know to do right and don't do it that sent to their sins of commission and then their sins of omission times were really concerned about the sins of commission. What does everybody see wizard on the people notice.

But the Bible talks about in this verse it says don't keep, but keep sending is that the ultimate goal in Christianity that leaves something falling short.

Then Paul says in verse 10 start doing good thing start doing good things. Talk about the chair sometimes it Christianity is all about not doing certain things, some of us grew up here in the right or will you Christian, we Christian you don't do this you don't do that you don't do this apnea. That's what we grew up. So far, so I'm asking questions this chair is a good chair.

This chair will never gossip. This chair will never smoke note. This chair will never drink.

This chair is always in church is this chair Christian know it's not it's not as matter-of-fact friend out of your very considered this but the people who will forever be separated from God actually won't be separated from God for the things that they did those sins of commission.

It will be the grandest grade absent of omission. The causes that eternal punishment.

What I mean by that.

It's the fact that they did not come to Jesus and did not ask him to forgive the mother said the causes that punish I think we need to understand that because as concerned as we should be and we should be concerned with not doing certain behaviors and certain things.

Absolutely.

The Bible is very clear. I hope I'm clear on that. But we should also be concerned that were doing the right things that were doing good things that were loving God and loving people. Life lesson here. Christianity is not only about keep them from doing bad deeds but is also about doing good. Christianity is not only about. Keep in from doing bad deeds but is also about doing good deeds. Obviously the Bible has a lot to say about this and and you know even in that passage in Ephesians 289 it says you've been safe.

You are his workmanship, created in the M for good works to do good things is much as I want to warn you about doing about things I want to also encourage you towards doing these good things. Verse 11 says, for there is no partiality with God. There's no partiality with God and reason new King James read in the King James and the new king to actually go through several different versions and then go back to the original languages. The Greek and Hebrew and the new living translation. This is the way it reads here says for God does not show favoritism for God does not show favoritism like this for no partiality, no favoritism.

Do we show favoritism. All you sometimes we do at think the worst example is the when it happens in the in the church in a sense you know you've got.

I don't seem weird things over the years was in one church and I set a bucket and said you know of anybody comes out in a minute. I was to give a dollar come up and put it in the bucket and then if anybody's got a five if anybody's got a 10. What is chart next week and am now. Here's another form of you thought about. I am really flattered when somebody wants me to pray for them touches me, and I have a heart to pray for people in but I say something I don't understand sometimes because every now and again.

So I'm calling I will be available be doing, Somerset, and one assisting pastors a safe unit; they would prefer is not available right now. I like to pray for you know know know you just won't do like I don't know like I got a direct line the goners.

I mean, I do have a direct line to God phone on my desk and no time to.

But I do have a direct line to God with all something is each and everyone of you do you got a direct line to God and God is not going to show me favoritism thinking of course. I think people in ministry reinforces some you need me to pray for you all pray for you.

Yes, this is not valid and were involved in television ministry openly sought count television.

He said you know, if you send in like $25 to pray for not think it's better.

He said he said sometimes and people send and $25. He praise him a $50 per that is so weird. Why because it's really you need me to pray for you guys. I do pray for, pray for you a lot. Sometimes I pray by faith, sometimes by laying the situation. The God doesn't show favoritism. God doesn't show favorites and an awesome government in that situation. Maybe, maybe, maybe they were choosing a sports team. Maybe your chosen maybe were chosen last two I had two large brother got stuck to our throws, a bookplate water football."

What is the tag along with them and play football and I was always there like the smallest one last time I got I got chose last and always will.

God doesn't show favoritism. How encouraging that it all comes down to if you know Jesus as your Savior for so many as have sinned without law also perish without law, and as many have as have sinned in the law will be judged by the LS Romans chapter 1, two, deal with the and I'm sure you hear it. Sometimes Google whined about the people who haven't heard, what about people who never heard the gospel and here's the thing. This verse is saying that, smokescreen. If you've ever set was amazing been trying to share the Lord with them, or the fact that they need to ask Jesus to forgive them and then they go. What about whatever pygmies in Africa. But what about this other people group that have occurred where we got ministries on six continents now, but so very concerned about people after smokescreen and that's not really the question. The question is the person it's hearing you talk about Jesus hearing you talk about the Lord. Hearing you make God's offer of grace and forgiveness. What will they do with that knowledge about somebody who hasn't heard, but what about the people who have heard, including perhaps a person your share. Since verse speaks of that. I think a lot of people are saying is there's a flaw in the plan. Why is there anybody on earth who hasn't heard there's a flaw in God's plan that he hasn't told everybody and holds everybody accountable for this knowledge is not a flaw in God. This is a perfect point if there's any full accident that we haven't done all we can while we can to reach all week so someone asked that question that's more of an indictment of the church, not of God himself.

God's told us to go tell everybody when people say that's always likable. Got really guilty in this whole thing because not everybody start thing about 2000 years ago Jesus.wow really shouldn't there be anybody on earth who hasn't hurt really should think with the Internet with a television with all these things shouldn't be so maybe there's something that is a church were not doing her as individuals were not.

But again, the question is will will God find those people guilty who haven't heard, because that's an academic discussion of people who have heard try to make and is not really the question really the question.

The question is you've heard what will you do we turn to walk away from the grace of God alone is according to this verse anybody that hearers the law hears about salvation will be held accountable for and you know for sure that your sins been forgiven. You can know right now own Legion. A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now.

Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I can have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry. Please forgive me of all those things.

Please give me the power to live for you.

All of my days in Jesus name amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible.
