Enjoy it and share it but most of all, thank you for listening and for choosing the truth network.

This is the Truth Network I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see what inspired John Newton, former slave trader vicious evil harsh man who came to Christ, what inspired him to write that part of the line in amazing grace the most song that he saw Harold's song ever in history instrumental vocally here at funerals here at weddings urine everywhere you go.

Everyone knows it.

What inspired that line I was blind but now I see it could have been this blind man's on the Jericho Road who called out to Jesus were studying that this week and what's it like to see Jesus was like that would have been like the look on him to behold him, which is the first thing this man ever be held well Joseph early's back with me this week. Joe I want you to read a passage, will you, and then working to go into these final few questions in Luke chapter 18, but read it reset to tell us that the verses are going to read, then read him Joe and organa going to this probably pop at all, all directed this next question you're getting.

Luke 18 through 35 to 43.

Then it happened, as he was coming there. Jericho in a certain blind man sat by the road, begging and hearing a multitude passing by. He asked what it meant, so they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by and he cried out, saying Jesus son of David, have mercy on me than those who would before warn him that he should be quiet, but he cried out all the more, son of David, have mercy on me. So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to him and when he had come near. He asked him, saying, what do you want me to do for you. He said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. Then Jesus said to him receive your site. Your faith has made you well and immediately he received his sight and fault him, glorifying God and all the people when they sought give praise to God.

So you have this great story here, and you have your last time we talked about his prayer to Jesus what what a great prayer you Ares blinds a beggar. He's obviously pretty much looked down upon that culture was being blind is one notch up from being a tax collector.

Get your unclean you that the blind were an older category. Not quite as bad as the lepers we had to be isolated, but here it says he was brought some Medicare care take disguise when a leader around that there hoping maybe his family that his begging would be fruitful. You know that some these wealthy merchants of your code would throw a little a little drop ordinary or whatever they had in their individual tin can, you know, so he could he could share that with Indian to pay the people to bring them. They may been making a profit on. Who knows, but here is Jesus comes by he finds out he any any praise two times he cries out first time he's he stopped and told to shut up by the crowd the second time he cried out again. Son of David, have mercy on me just pray that person time to just say that with me where you are maybe in your heart even son of David, have mercy on me, Jonah, is there a better prayer than that really.

Psalm 34 says that verse 34 verse six the Lord hears the cry, the cry of the righteous. He hears their cry. His ears open to their cry. This guy couldn't even get to Jesus. Jesus is bringing to me and that's where we get into this question here which will take us into the rest of his go-ahead.

Joe overtime is that what's significant about the blind beggar's prayer to Jesus. So we have this prayer calling out for mercy.

He's helpless and then this is were going next Job fire that question away. What significant about Jesus question to him. So here is what Jesus says. It says he stood still, which is remarkable as we would talk about how you know Jesus standing still. You don't hate you hear him do it had a whole lot, but he was stopped in his tracks and he commanded him to be brought to him they gave blind Erica indicates he worry is he maybe can hear his voice maybe can hear maybe far away, but he was crying this out passionately. This is bringing over here.

You know the guy can't take himself just which is certainly in command and he brought him and says when he came near to Jesus. Jesus asked him the question saying what do you want me to do for you what a question we know that Jesus in Luke 1910 it says will type this is the theme of the book of Luke. He came to seek and save the lost window over and over to Lucas as he came to serve. He came to give. So yes, his man, what do you want me to do for you what it way seems like an obvious question, but there's a whole lot of death and that question and many folks have seen that movie Aladdin you may sting your grandkids that Joe is all about a gene I'll know what it when you rub that bottle and the genie comes out.

What is it what is he was the first thing he says Joe was a genie say what is your where she is or else fascinating and then you're confronted with a conundrum. Is this guy apparently can answer any question you could meet you I think the only thing you can do is make me started in the genie and you think there's a few things like that that is a couple rules know that they said that the Disney folks have made it a real fun, creative, you know, humorous, entertaining movie that is surrounding that whole narrative, but think about Jesus the Christ, the creator of heaven and earth, the one that made this blind man says to him, what do you want me to do for you. If Jesus Christ asked you for any wish to give you anything, Joe. I own everything I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I own the world.

It made the world earth is the Lord in the fullness thereof the skies and everything that dwells there and is is for all these things he's fashion with his own hands.

Here God Almighty asked is poured to this destitute blind lowlife guy who came in get there who's gotta be dragged around to his post. We can bag all day. He's asking him what he can do for him is that not remarkable.

This guy's just hit the lottery. Joe that is remarkable need. Think about that for you. People listing out they really were aware every rat in your life and you think you down that that Jesus will lift you up.

As he says, what can I do for you so this is a great time of your listing distant to think that you Jesus would listen to. He will listen to you and just pour out your heart and let them know that what he can do for you and bring your life to him and you will see a big turn in your life. Never look at the contrast in order usually is is usually what can I do for him. And here's the deal if you can't receive a gift, the gift from Jesus. You can't be saved. Listen closely to what the word of God is saying here you will not go to heaven unless you can fully receive and embrace. Enjoy the gift God offers you. So if you're one of those like I was up for so many years before I came to Christ of all I gotta do do do do do do do I get a don't don't don't don't don't don't don't I just I got I got I work my way. Forgot I got older and an adult Puget in the upper room. John 13. He said Lord I want to wash your feet. No, no, no, no, I should washer from your Lord John did it in John chapter 2 Jesus the whole Lamb of God to judge everyone takes away says world. She said you to baptize me sit on I can baptize you yes you are, you baptize me see. We don't want. We want to serve him. We will do for him, but we our efforts are righteousness, all of the rich young ruler all or any human being it's ever lived are to lead us straight to hell. The only righteousness that continues to heaven is the rise of Christ in all it comes to us is to the gift of him giving it says the Son of Man laid his life down. He gave his life he came to serve not to be served to give his life a ransom for many.

This is lot of the got nothing you love God.

He loved you and gave his life for you Joe.

So this turns the whole religious is the road every religion world comes out is think Jesus Christ and Christina's is what can I do for you every other religions. What can you do for God five pillars Islam 200 gazillion deities in Hinduism trying to please try to please let them know for Pete sake you got Buddhism yet. I meditate unify your karma stay. Gotta go inside that Yoda got towers of a shanty was in all the Eastern religions gazillions religions.

Everyone is what do I do to get the got one belief system. It's ever existed. Says God Almighty says what can I do for you, and he answers the question for this this blind blind man simply says in it in humility and he's desperate. His last leg. He could even get a Christ and he says that I may receive my sight Lord because Lord Nancy bows to him. He shows the authority of Christ their Lord, that I may receive my sight. Verse 42 then Jesus said to him receive your site. Your faith has made you well and I really believe Joe he wanted to see the one who gave him site and that this next question goes right there. What is that question right there read that real quick was the first person this man ever saw that head and his amazing eyes that it is helping glia and then all of a sudden not being blind, and then having Jesus Christ in front of you that that is just totally amazing. The light of the world invaded this man's darkness is one of the great I am. Statement of John John Jeffrey I am the light of the world and what's fascinating is look at this.

What role this veto is for you know he had faith. He believed this would cause us to because the believe he was 11, six without faith it is impossible to please God freely comes to him must believe that he exist.

So why why is faith so important because faith opens the arms as is God. I don't know. I can't get there. I can't do anything for you but receive that gift. It was hard receive this at Christmas time. Joe, like his earlier and the first thing comes near my mind is what I can do for them all shoot dirt on my list old gosh I got extreme big will the boss let me give you the boss a gift. It is the other brave parades right, God demonstrates his love toward us that while we were yet sinners, nothing to offer him but are horrible sent Christ died for us. Romans 58 this is the good news the gospel to God, invaded our lives and he offers us this gift you're too stubborn self-righteous to greedy, or we think were too simple.

Take it with his blind man was at the height of all that any said, I believe using a review of giving life site and Jesus in your faith has made you well in the word well. Thereby, the way in the Greek is not just well wellness of health is not just the OpenNet retina. He open those eyes was cornea so they could see perfectly. Can of 2020 vision, but but wellness of soul. The Greek word, there's your faith has made you whole your faith is is is is has brought salvation because salvation is come to you what a great statement read this real quick. Joe these last two please ask questions here who did this.

This questionnaire and I will good on her next good. What three things that the blind beggar due immediately in verse 43 and then how was his response different from the rich young ruler's and why did all the people glorify God yes 03 things he received a site which means he completely was healed of his blindness. God healed completely immediately. This speaks the miracle of God's light in God's life never to follow Jesus look at all the times in Luke the people follow Jesus. This speaks of total change direction, his head hard, hands and feet followed his eyes. He now can see and guess who he followed the one he could see he followed him number three, he glorified God this speaks of an outward expression of his new inward affection and priority. See, he's ETCs physically healed that he follows Jesus you know we need to change the whole direction and his his heart is changes glorify God. He's got a new object of worship, and all three of these things demonstrate the changes Jesus Christ brings in his amazing grace look with the people. This is all the people gave praise to God really's last testimony times your will wrap up to how was your condition before Jesus, much like the blind beggar who is glorifying God today because of how he's open your eyes. Well, like the Samaritan like the publican, the younger brother Lazarus the blind beggar was healed in the blind beggar was saved. Tragically, the older brother. The rich man, the Pharisee, the rich young ruler, and so many others they had it all figured out. Didn't want Jesus to do for them.

They were hopelessly lost. As they were trying to for Jesus. This is why we need God's grace. Imagine this man. And you know what the last things all by the way, will see the next few chapters he sees the climax of Christ's life. He sees the triumphal entry he sees that he was a Blessed is he who comes landlord he sees Jesus teaching in the temple.

He sees the crucifixion he sees the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ is faith had made as well and well I was blind but now I see and what a change.

God made this man's life a this is been expressed through things really think. Enjoy your awesome in Lincoln think this is this is great commission on routing light everywhere we go right Joe, that's way is light let his light shine through you appoint people to the delight of the world who wants to do for you what you can do for yourself salvation forever. And for now right now calling to him call upon the Lord will be saved. Social media this is experienced. Truth I'm Stu Epperson joins next time. As we journey will be crack it open.
