It ran in her family, until it ran into her. She was the cycle breaker.

What does it mean to be a cycle breaker? In Generations Deep, author and licensed professional counselor Gina Birkemeier uses her own personal story to illustrate how unaddressed dysfunction and trauma can create emotional wounds and toxic beliefs that are passed down from one generation to the next. Gina shares the story of inherited trauma and dysfunction that echoed through four generations of her family, demonstrating this profound truth: what isn’t repaired gets repeated. Often in ways we never could have imagined.

Generations Deep takes an unparalleled approach to personal and familial transformation, inviting you to challenge what you think about family, trauma, faith and therapy. Gina shares her story in a way that makes you feel like you are “in the room” together. And once you’re in the room, she weaves the sciences of psychology and transgenerational epigenetics with faith in God, questionnaires created by trauma-informed therapists, and one-of-a-kind journaling prompts to help you in your journey toward ending patterns of dysfunction. If you are interested in the power of familial legacy and what it means to be a cycle breaker, this is the book for you. It will leave you feeling hopeful and empowered to write a legacy of freedom for the generations to come.

B Chronicles comes around the corner all the time you were here with Gina Berkemeyer and I saw the cover of her books and immediately went over well I can hardly wait because the name of this book is generations deep unmasking in the heritage dysfunction, a trauma like to rewrite to rewrite our stories through faith and yet and so it sounds like there's a story you're doing well. There really is it's my family story starts with my great grandparents all the way back to them coming over to this country and then it comes forward through my grandparents and my mother and myself and eventually talking on their hands, just a generational trauma and dysfunction repeated from one generation to the next next and how I actually had the privilege of being a psycho breaker at 16 therapy and is a licensed therapist, trauma therapist, but I'm a state informed, therapist recognizing the importance of both of those things is really important and how the truth of how we are wired speaks to how God has designed us and created us for healing. If we have the right guidance on us. Really fun.

I have an opportunity. One ties to do 100 interviews over the weekend Association of Christian counselors. It was actually in this hotel and as I was doing that, you know, I was tasked to do. Always interviews, always counselors so I started praying God, give me something that would be like because I got to do always interviews for Peru time. I want to get to something that's meaningful for listeners and forever, so he gave me this question. It was pretty simple but is so applicable to say. She said in second Corinthians chapter 1 it says God, the God of all comfort comforts so that we could be a conflict close right and I would you share that passage like we can comfort others with comfort.

We are comfortable sounds that play out your reply and one after the other after the other after I and if they were counseling people for sure so I guess what data centers as right as they were counseling the full support of women they'd multiple they were counseling whatever was right down the had the psychiatrist. This guy had goat cheese and a three-piece suit and I was like grandma drug is questioned God a lot of the work and he had been insane and so I mean literally but clinically. In an institution and say and God comforted him and now he was there so and in this I love what you're saying because it's so helpful to know Brian both for the stuff that's going on can be healed right you can be a Christian and a little under all this bondage is all that is what God has in mind for his right to take a decision to face the painters but also to get help to do it right. It will take 10 what some important to recognize how God has wired his interest. This cognitive thing that we think about right. Our brain has a top down. Which is the youngest part of the brain and then we have a bottom up, which is the oldest often because God in his infinite wisdom to design a trauma, but we don't have anywhere overnight in the green so it kind of bounces around looking for somewhere to go.

Often times it departs body.

So in order to get to the Teachers Bottom up approach writing length how God is wired in designing to having state informed therapist to understand evidence-based practices of what that looks like it is critical to the journey of faith to stay intact can even even be emboldened row to the patent process of your are you familiar with the amount varies actually trained under Dan Helen directed a training for advanced trauma certification. So I think a trauma therapy was eventually well is like man oh amazing story got somebody but clearly this is so relevant for everybody right in this day and age because covert itself is trauma right is absolute is absolute, and I think that we may see something generationally. As a result, some of the spheres to be cultivated in the realm of scope how we can pass that to the next generation hands of the next maybe covertly but also overtly what I often tell my client says maybe you are generational trauma doesn't look exactly like the generation before you.

But if we follow the roots down follow the stem down to the rear. The root's canopy and is generations before so we never know how that's Layout so well and so when you wrote this book, which obviously you got your own story, but I'm curious who you were hoping would pick it up so it's funny because we have, of course, people get review Starbucks in one of my favorite reviews is if you are a person who cares about people and interact with people that you want to read this book and that because it really is for all of us only to address what we know that we've endured, but to help us understand what we don't know that we haven't. So in the book there is story there is the process of companies and therapy work together, but there are also questionnaires and assessments that you can take some that were created just for this book to help people give them permission to recognize that thing that you went through that she sort of shoved under the table now is actually trauma and that's why you're having these difficulties in your relationships. So for anybody who's maybe in that unsettled place. It has had a very well received in the recovery community. It had a huge message of recovery. The teachers are embracing this because what I how I talk about, impacting the child brain development so teachers have been embracing this really think it is a book for just about that would be the I'm sure that it is because I think we don't have to look very far to go. Why is it that this little thing just sets me off the ball like a baby or why is it know all these things, but also biblically and I'm just interested in exploring this with his or her in front of a dialogue assiduous of so you may have known them with number six erotic list right Lord bless you and keep you with the idea of God's face was blessing and store victim she could look at him with confusion get the life of Moses July this wonderful what I understand is that when he looks at you. You can really get right in his face like you can really get there, which is going take a lot of courage. Most of them. Unfortunately, the Israelites could do that but if you could do it. Just look at you. He goes back and he goes full so he is actually putting a blessing on that father and that grandfather and all that. So as you broke the cycle, but you're describing that you grow in height. Are you tracking with me. Yes, if there is a possibility that your your setting free these people that are clear about know for generations absolutely. I think there's some truth in that there's there's this almost salvific effect happens for the whole family going backward, and to your point going forward that to what you said about looking on us and how we look upon him to help what the number one thing is that prevents us from allowing she right right so because Shane is the great divider I think is the number when they talk about pride being present in the garden. I think Shane was there before pride was because I think the pride was a response to their same and I think they turned away because of their shape. They were naked and they were afraid and they were ashamed right all of that goes together. So when we can address that shame then we get to the could say okay got.

I'm gonna let you look at this. I am scared and I know this is like dirty rags for you, but I know you love me more than that and I know that your son's blood washes away all actor so I take my shame and I'm in a late fee of Jesus and in electing look at me through those eyes so cool you measure process before the time of actually have to go talk of shame Redo John Alpert and so we've got I got ashamed talk to them actually leaving August considerably, breakdown Shane from and I was processing I don't know if you've ever seen the Corrie 10 boom documentary that was done in the home of otherwise having seen the documentary read all the books have not seen is when you trace the word shame. We hit it right on the buttons far as I'm concerned, is it that moment right before the fall is said right there. They were naked, but they were ashamed spray okay courage and boom was German concentration And they're telling the story of them stripping them. All these can imagine and what she told to her sister who unfortunately died of a concentration camp was I Take I can't take this on so ashamed standing there naked and cold in front of these boxes are just absolutely love this picture is just unbelievable and unthinkable right and she scored she said was just like oh my gosh that that so much mail she said that all of a sudden I got a picture of our Lord on the cross and realized he was naked and when I realize that he could do that. The were talking about God himself, and they come across any of us want even look up Adam Armani right in and she said when she did that but she couldn't do work taking radical ideas.

Shame and going. You know this mentioned about 5100 x 2 tall that the King David found a way to go to the word get covered because I think that's what were we made the blood of Christ to cover that shame, but the problem is we don't even know where were naked and that's what we need help right right absolutely is why I think it's important to have informed therapist to understand that we can always come at it from here.

Sometimes it's can edit in the front and right up. Sometimes it's connected the back right get those were older parts of ourselves, where all of that is stored but that Redeems all that he can come in and work to all of those things he has things he has wired our brains to do is incredible and the healing journey that she has wired us for. If you have the right guidance is one that what you mentioned earlier about others therapist who said Chalcedon right because God never heals us just that we can like they all look I'm healed I get my trophy.

Now it so we can go out free people free people right and that's what we wanted to healed people help heal others to such a significant book I hate. I don't have hours to get to it because what an amazing sword you live is misery. How cool generations deep. Gina Berkemeyer general website. How do you want your people to back some people can find me on social media at my out loud voice my out loud voice to thank you and then my website is generations deep.com) have been to so generations deep.com how easy it is that simple. And oh my goodness, I figured you would be blessed and then it's a good idea to read John, Ryan connect with me absolutely. I consider website. Obviously they can get there because one of the steps in finding help this just ask and having the courage to say no because of damn elder himself. John Eldridge most people are constantly giving of counseling right and that's why they write the books the way they do and that's why I wrote this book. The way I did, because it's like I'm in the room with you.

I can take you through the things I can help you explore things and encourage you to go to the next level to get additional help for people to reach out to spectacular God
