Will Hardy Elmore Jones Junior and tonight just like to talk to a ready audience out there Roy about differences between disciple and a convert.

Sometimes I think we we get these two terms sort of mixed up and we think a lot of them run synonymously with respect to the definition. So what we want to do is just kind of walk through of you know, discipleship, or disciple. What is a disciple and identify with some type of terminology. What that disciple is and then leading into that that convert all conversion face will I think it's important for all of us as we understand the difference between the two inspectors were talking to me and through our program trying to get men moving forward for their families and for the communities and in the church. It's important to realize that you have a role as a disciple. If you choose to take that role is over, talk about earlier, but not everyone chooses that Roman some things will clarify tonight, but then a disciple is a means investing others and also given of yourself to most extent which you clarify portion just moments in sacred plaintiff will get started. Yeah, we often times those who don't know you and she realizes not a live lobster. We recorded live so if we make a mistake. It's it's life like we started out of the check check to make sure all my journal at the last second. But the so you just deftly gave it away when you said would like to talk to to the first couple shows but now are doing afterward. Seasoned veterans now still to present him with even the best of the first verses like so much going on everything live in ladies out there listening and enjoying the live version. So exactly. And you know so when we talk about disciple and Jesus of course said in Matthew 2819 and 20 for us to he commissioned us to go and he gave us authority so he said go out make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, so the authority that God has given us to disciple or be that follower of Jesus Christ takes us down that road to where you and I we look at what Jesus did for us and we want to look at him as a role model exactly but things important to know the big disciples of choice be in a converted converted person become a Christian does not make you the disciple's right you have to choose to die the self, you have to choose to in Scripture tells us that you know you have to be willing to hate your mother, father, brother, sister. Take up your cross and go correct correct so I think often times there's so many things were trying to hang onto.

Once you become followers of Christ, that we stay in the conversion phase as opposed to moving to discipleship phrase is this is so importantly right now as we were going to the leadership meeting with several of our leaders from her talk him and were doing the kingdom disciples from Tony Evans teaches on. It's been really in awakening the waking series were just in the third week of the study about this in itself is also been a Christian I thought understood it fully, but getting an even clearer understanding of the role between the two you know and that's that's a dynamic series to buy the way that that your undertaking and you know we encourage all man if you're in a small group to to look at resources like this that's available because you know it. It those resources build character and it defines exactly who you need to be as a kingdom representatives because everywhere we go we should be representing Christ exactly because that may be the only Bible anybody overseas that may be the only church anybody sees this year. The other them and they are the only living Christ person that they see.

Maybe you they may never step foot in church. I never open the Bible and if your behavior or examples, not what would be Christlike and you need to ask yourself how can I improve my behavior, my integrity all the things people are looking to see is real is not exactly.

And so when we talk about disciple they were talking about someone who was a follower someone who learns from a teacher.

Some so, a disciple is one who was in the learning phase of their development before they go out and actually be that one who evangelize is the world but what does a disciple of Christ. What should a person be looking for in Christ in order to be that ideal or model disciple well it's a great question will think God will do it each of us individually about what needs to be straightened up within our lives, as were truly become disciples of Christ. But I think at the very least, if you would put it in the one sentence she would say I have died to self, which means no longer my worried about my provisions no longer my word about my self-satisfaction no longer my worried about the wants of the world or serving myself I'm all about following God, Christ, and serving others so and that may mean you separate yourself as it talks about Scripture from your family or your friends that you've been around for so long because you're choosing a lifestyle to be Christlike and be the disciple of Christ, which means you're constantly learning, grasping more of his concepts of living out the disciple's life and what that you mentioned earlier as we get ready to go out make disciples of the nation. I think I think will equally get on the path from conversion to discipleship.

Christ is equipping us through for that journey and it's a work in progress to the day we leave the day we go home and that's that's so true because true worshipers and and Jesus talked about this when he said talking to the woman he said the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit any truth so a disciple has to be a worshiper of the teacher, who they are following. Now we're not saying worshiping man we do about it all, but what were saying in the concept of what we're talking about is that Jesus is the center of our admiration and he's the center of our worship so worshiping him leads us to down that narrow path as Jesus talked about you know we got brought path. The narrow path so the broad path leads to destruction, the narrow path leads to life eternal right so in Matthew, it says seek you what first the kingdom of God. Okay, so I think that's the defining moment between the convert and become a disciple when you can totally embrace that and it it truly is part of your every action every step that you are looking to God first, I think you're understanding what it means and looking to Jesus. First, you are understanding what it means to be a disciple because did Jesus ever do anything without going to the father first. Now he sat everything I do I say of the father and the father has basically given me to say it. So yes, it is of the figures.

The father was first in Jesus and we have to do the same rights of Jesus the father through the father hast to the followers of Jesus has to be our very first step exactly to seek you first. So then I think of for even a moment. So what's great about our conversations that can speak to this from experience and we often talked about man's opinion has no argument with a man with experience in the in this case on one of those guys are standing on the sidelines and in God will Guajardo said looking at would be done for the kingdom.

So in that moment you start embrace what event there's just been the convert all the fish. There is nothing measurable for that I could put for that them for the kingdom you know and how we look at Christ's. I think also plays a part in our understanding of what it means to be a disciple so if we we worship Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and we follow the teachings that he laid out for us to do and to with with the aid of the Holy Spirit. Now a disciple also means one who is a servant so you talk about that little bit saying how you was one on the sidelines and not getting in there serving right so the importance of servitude when it comes to being a disciple would be it would be extremely important in the real right because you Christ served everybody was around right in the feather spiritually with nourishment, but he also was it was always taking care of other people and are either in the teachings or the healing or the loving owner of the Council to the disciples that he was always take care of the people so we think about person always takes care of the people that were servant's heart. That's the way you would typically describe him as a servant's heart right and the persons then on the sidelines like I was was what I called, not really taking but was sitting there waiting to be served in terms of spiritual nourishment in the church open Sunday would be fed by the pastor of Avenue Sunday school class may be a part of those types of things so that's the difference.

The transition from being served to serving in that whole transition of where you're seeking God first and see that Jesus was an example behind act because in John 13. Five.

He talked about and did servant hood things and washing the feet right of disciples and soul, so he he said I'm serving you and in this capacity, even though he was Lord of Lord and Creator of all things, he humbled himself enough to say as I do so should you.

This if the Lord Almighty can do it and humble himself to do that for his disciples and who are we not to get engaged start serving our Lord try that the Lord he is the only one who is in a position to say you know number one. He was sinless, but number two is the only one who has the right way because he said I am the way the truth and lie. And so, via a servant demonstrates love with you group that absolutely so what greater way to show love served and Jesus said, greater love hath no man than this, and he should lay down his life for Francis right so how will we come back after the break we can continue conversation with the disciple versus convert talking and walking Christian men's ministry like to invite you to our monthly men's breakfast held every first, third and fifth Friday of each month. You enjoy fun, fellowship in the Word of God break bread together. The meetings are held at First Christian Church 1130 N. Main St., Kernersville start promptly at 6:30 AM and have a hard stop at 8:00 AM. Come join your host will Hardy and Roy Jones Junior welcome back to man talk radio and solenoid when we were talking on the break we were given some things about how disciple should be a worshiper disciple should be a servant, and you know in that process of learning. After a while they are going to have to go out and now take what they've learned and witness so I think that would be sort of like the third element of this disciple, understanding disciple, and what a disciple should be doing going out and witnessing to others. Well that that's a good point. Will one of the things that sometimes we confuses you always gotta be talking about the love of our Lord and the love we have for him when often times people are you watching they see your behavior. Not sure this before from them on this to say pastor's recently. Your actions are speaking so that I can hear word you say so. I believe if we truly are in that servant's heart in that mindset that we will show and demonstrate what level Christ is all about and then it's great. We'll sure testimony bill to share your faith in plan of salvation folks, but I think the lead into that's going to be by them sooner. Actions that will see your countenance is set hear your heart set your serving others and what the units as well, but the discipleship piece two will we need to be very cognizant of this that your student in order to be a student you gotta do what you study and you have to read have to pray and I think that's one of one of the most functional key elements of this whole journey is that we would like to seek you first kingdom of God will you gotta go into the kingdom and before the father via prayer to start that start the day in his right you need to be in the word every day.

Not enough say every at least every man that you talk to maybe 99 9/100 of us say they don't read enough and they probably don't pray enough. If we were to go out servant ministry in their totally honest with us.

As you know it will even see the numbers crossed the church only people were reading the Bible daily versus weekly versus monthly and you think you're depending on to be fed on Sunday exactly and and just being fed on one day without reinforcing one spiritual heart and life during the week you know it is just like eating food on Monday and and fasting for six days exactly in the body listing would choose to do that unless they were going to the time of fasting to to seek God a deeper level for more clarity know what is so unlikely I'm going to skip food for six days, just out of cycle skipping it with no biblical purpose behind the low L why would you skip missing time with your father for six days and exactly and a person who confesses the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and wants to be that disciple of Jesus and want to be able to witness you won't or can't have a witness to anyone. If your life has no direct meaning to you because we are not walking in the way in which the Lord Jesus Christ called us to walk back to qualify what you mean the direct meaning to you with yourself and how how would you describe the person has no meaning to what that means. He is a person who simply gets fed on one day a week and simply comes and says well you know that one day on Sunday. That's enough to get me through the week until I get my motor recharge, either during a weekday Bible study or you know during Sunday morning again but between that time. There's a lot that the enemy is throwing at you without question we talked about distractions earlier will have dinner right love distractions and I think people fail to realize because things are so smooth and the normal daily life for most people. Also got hurdles would deal with her some sort of challenge at some point time the word heaven fight through the thick influence of the Third World countries where they didn't have all the distractions and all the things we have there would be no question or most of the time spent with her that for many, many, many people overseas missionaries pastors a come back in those folks are worshiping the underpriced time and during the Bible study time for hours on end exactly and then through the week there there into it for hours on end and I think that's what we miss it we don't get the full blessing if were not really chasing after God he's Artie pursuant us to think about we start chasing him at that level. Think of the amazing journey that's, provide forces as follows across. That's right if it Jesus said if you seek me you will find me now that you gotta be seeking.

You gotta be one who seeks now in Matthew chapter 18 and verse number three Jesus said, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. So to me, conversion is a necessity in order for you to begin any type of journey in Christ agree totally accursed chatting earlier.

That's the first step. I think a lot of people stop at the at the step of the first step in again but to speak with experience. That's the journey I got hung up on early in life was only part was that no one had helped me along. In that journey understand discipleship and growing them in the kingdom so stuck in that baby step if you will, for many, many, many years and I think something will know that they need to go beyond that what they choose to stay there better earlier dialogue was related to your own comfort zone. Don't give up this particular part of a life you know salvation is assured, but still try to control these pieces and I'm not ready go all land where it might mean losing friendships might mean losing family cousins took a stand on biblical standards – his fall, the world and see when you when you let the world dictate your life in the pattern of your life, then I think again you know where heading down a steep cliff of disaster because we have to understand not only that God has given us what we need to be equipped to handle the enemy on a daily basis but without us doing like we said earlier, getting into the word and in these type things we are not putting on the whole armor of God so when we talk about the conversion. It's it's an absolute necessity. Number one, but conversion also has to do with you turning away.

It's a it's a spiritual turning away. So you're turning away, mentally you're turning away your lifestyle, your old lifestyle. You're turning away all of your own self desires and now you're turning toward God and a true enemy Senate what time true godly repentance because I think we have repentance messed up to we think okay I did something wrong. I came in late for the church service. 15 minutes late and everybody's looking at me a lot I need to repent of that talk so I think we have this business can screwed ideal on the true meaning of godly repentance the godly repentance.

If you truly don't want to let go of something then you going to hold onto it in that's going to interfere with your growth.

But if you truly want to let go and let God bless you in the way in which he has designed and laid out in sacred Scripture than the role would be a lot easier for you to travel. No doubt it would be much easier. But most people don't choose their the narrow path that very reason I like too many things are stating in the wide path. I think they get to that salvation assurance with with a changed heart. But then because of distractions and the noise in the system as we always talk about data stay, and that idle territory and we know that God does not like lukewarmness exact speaks to Scripture, and I think that's that's something we should all heed the love of God, we should fear those types of things that he doesn't like lukewarmness than you need to choose a path and go pretty clear and thin and know these can take care of those listen to one of the pastors this morning on the way and working on things you talk about your always, we always pray for things we need now is things we we should have have to have an email or the state chosen not forget that I've Scripture in front of the building was that if Trina was seeking God first begin with and he knows our hearts and our hearts desire for honoring him. His comment was pastors, was he already knows what you would love to have, but he thinks will be greater because he knows more about what you need if you're honoring him you're not worried about those wants is going to come along. The things in your life that you never imagined. While this is pretty amazing as it was decided that it made total sense. When he said please get that reversed way to try to handle everything to go to God about, you heard me say crisis control.

There were about a crisis control fearlessness things you say were not we we are you know we are not in a crisis control does God need crisis CN and radically true godly repentance will radically alter one's spiritual direction and life. So we're talking about a change of mind, a change of how you view not only yourself but how you view others it in relation to God. A change in your affections. A change in your dealings. A change in your will and a change in your volition. So it's a complete change is not just saying that I'm going to repent of this all repent of that so I think when we when we understand true godly repentance man when you truly understand that you cannot just say casually, I repent, you got to with your whole heart. Get down on your knees get out on your face if necessary and and and let God deliver you from whatever it is that's keeping you bound God want you free today that Leroy oh yes without question, is the whole business in the Jesus did not force so that was full blessing and freedom. And you know in us in this short time that we have.
