Doing Things God's Way Part 1

We are back again and you know before we got really on the phone, how you doing Roy I am served by the grace of Almighty God, you know, before we start, I know, last week we lost a very dear friend and we just going to call his name was Roger and we lost him is so 10. I just thought today Roy we would just dedicate the show.

Roger and his family will ironically I thought it would be really cool you spoke about this, but thank you for doing that and I would also like to propose that one night you are not doing so.

Talking about work relationship with a guy like Roger and how God blessed to be part talk about the whole thing.

One of our shows. Praise God a man so tonight we're going to talk about something that I think everybody has encountered in their life they have made or thought they came up with a right decision and then they find out that that decision that they made was a mistake, so now the question is, is how do we get ourselves there. In other words, what led us to saying yes to something and then we found out later on. That wasn't the best way or the best approach which had the best outcome for me that's what we'll talk about today. Roy and it's it's ironic, I think because you know of when I think about myself, but I think about this situation. If it was probably back in oh I'm going to say 20 oh 2012 2013 is is whenever my my daughter she was getting ready to graduate from High Point University and she did a internship at Ching a summer internship at James Madison University up there in Virginia and is a beautiful campus. By the way, and so we dropped her off. Back then I had a Mazda tribute and a course it it looked like the Ford escape almost say yeah all the same body style and so you know we got in the car and we drove up and you know we dropped her off and course this was perhaps the first time she was really away from home and I think I I felt more sad than my wife did at the time because you know this is like our baby is.

This won't be here with us. You know the type thing and so we dropped her off, you know, she moved into the dorm and everything and then we were on my way back and all of a sudden we were. We were proud about maybe 15 or 20 miles from from Greensboro and of red indicator light came on. The car and it was like wow, what is this and so you know they was in so what I'm thinking is, you know, the indicator light is just an indicator to let you know that Pope you have a problem or a potential problem is coming that that's the way that I looked at it. Instead of saying this particular life when it came on is something you need to do and so I didn't do anything I say well I'm going you at issue. Later on I didn't do anything in the whole summer the whole summer.

Roy passed the whole summer year whole summer. I didn't do a thing and then it was it was like time to go getter and so we all jumped in the car. The course by that time the light had gone off and so we jump in the car and so here we go. We're down the highway again and we get up there and we pick her up and were on the way back so we say hey let's just stop and grab a bite to eat at the local restaurant.

So we parked the car when in had a great meal came back out, put the key in the ignition. At nothing. Roy nothing so is like wives. It turned again to him again sought to put in their nothing is so everyone in that car. This is the thing every soul that was in the car my son my daughter and my wife. They were all looking to me to do something, you know, and I felt it was like so much pressure and because they didn't know about the light, you know. Previously they did know about the like, so I didn't say anything. I didn't say anything to anybody about the life but you know so all of a sudden I you know they were looking to me and I'm going Lord I do not know what to do I not know what to do.

Tell me show me and so through that I started and I said to myself, you know this this thing about this car is is real peculiar and I don't want to tell my family. I don't know what to do and so I got the car and I said Lord I just was pleading to the Lord, Lord, please, Lord, please, Lord. I didn't have any words to say below or please and so I started walking up the hill from where the restaurant was and I got to the main highway look down the road and there was an AutoZone and I said there's hope, there's hope. So I waved to my wife I said I'm I'm walking down here she's a why was she could hear me as I'm walking down the highway. I'm heading to that AutoZone and you gotta keep in mind now it's Sunday afternoon and typically businesses are closed Sunday afternoon, but this AutoZone was open and so I walked down there and I told the guy.

Hey, I'm out of town. My car won't start. He said well you know bringing appear and I said I can't because it will start and so they said it sounds like the battery, and so he said not supposed to do this, do it anyway, so he gave me a one of those many like start as you like a little battery and you yeah and so he said take this supposed to do this, take this now. He didn't know if I was going to run off with the thing or not.

And so I I took it put it on the. The battery terminals turn the ignition car started up. II zeroed in on the AutoZone got in the car and went down there checked everything out and it was the battery. Yeah, it was the battery and so that's that time when I should have responded when the light came on.

I should have responded in doing something but I put it off and I'm not talking about one day, one week a month. I'm talking about the whole summer.

Roy the whole summer and so that was yeah that was my experience I think that in things that I thought that I knew I could delay and and thanked the Lord. It didn't cost me more you know, then I anticipated because I will more than likely if I would have continued to drive the car something else would've gone wrong. As a result of you don't like take care of the problem so that that taught me a whole lot of things so we we are when we come back from the break that we can talk about a situation that you have and if you been thinking about that time when you Roy have thought you knew it all and all of a sudden God sitting because maybe we delay something. Maybe we procrastinated something may be. There was a different direction that we had to go. You know, so mom I will dying to hear what you have to say on that. So so so give us a little preview mode monumental the U.my wife to go on a trip to class normal morphological children's school, an orphan home to social abuse is abuse or mental abuse in the home still allowed to come back in the fall 2009 think we need to adopt and I've please I don't think now got laid off pressure that really bad time about what is now the time of my my earthly situation and the regular income, you want looking no promising moment on the nature of the country start time and so that's probably what we'll talk about what they believe you my doing, before asking God what do you work it out anyway because we know what he does thing for those who love God and his will that take you know that's what he says in James chapter 1, you know, in verses 0225 you say, count it all joy when you fall into various trials and temptations and you I went in and dug out my old Greek lexicon and the lexicon and I looked up that root word in Greek trials in this particular passage and is progress must and it has to do with it's like a fish, you know that swimming by. And all of a sudden you got this guy he throws this net and you know and all the sudden fish get caught in the net so that that that count it all joy when you fall into these trials, so it's like something that is unseen you're not anticipating it happening but when it do happen it's sudden and it has a great impact. You know, depending on how you you let it affect you so were coming up on this break right now Roy but think about those trials, folks, because I know you got them I got them as long as were living.

We got trials and trials of you to come but don't let them overtake you. Don't let them bring you down because God is able. So when we come back from his break. 2013 better for your journey. The James 25 Scripture selections for the show, and the question about it was a time when a large stake in my mind that I didn't say about that, why now what time.. My wife is working but I wasn't sure at that point didn't feel 2009 never the January 2012 and I was working they can make about the family and in that moment in January are sitting in the home office just change with one of my customers rather have we missed doing something you doing something that you got to do as well. You know me to call him on that prayer, heart you have not finished the adoption journey. Keep in mind that was due usually when I told my wife it was time to God about what time.

I thought I knew what I have in that moment I picked up the phone and call the life that we will gather this adoption journey started laughing will. God last week and told he was speaking about seven point look like you are in God spoke all my heart went back and talk to Lisa and we started… Journey in January 2012 and share with you how God works at the same time, he moved all my heart that we were so so.got me back in the game may grandma the moment we checked for obedience to the event to be. You don't need to fall happening at the same time and person speaking to Lisa on January 12 girl by the name of Alina was being told the adoption she had lost her mother just a couple years earlier to cancer. Her adoptive mother is from Ukraine.

First, and then in making good use because God will clear for your journey to games to James 1235 were indeed our anchor our anchor Scriptures that I would take it anymore, but each time they got to that point I would find joy in knowing that my father would come through had recovered about what it look like in front of me. You know now that that truly is a blessing and I'm sure that there is many listeners out there who can also resonate with you know what you went through as some of them may have adopted children within their their family, but I like that verse because it says let patience have its perfect work you and and trials just like I think any other temptation or or or send out attempts us to go in that direction. It will bring us to Christ, or it will push us away from Christ. Depending on how we respond, but it you know that the verse that come stuck with me back when I saw that little red light go off was if any of you lack wisdom, and Lord knows I like wisdom I mean it was like where where is wisdom. I need some wisdom right now because you know the light is is is like God give you a warning before the big boom happens, you know, so he always brings a warning you know he always warns us, and so that was my morning my warning was the light is telling you something investigating the course. I went through that procrastination and all of a sudden you put me down out in the middle of nowhere and is like see I told you so. All was like now is like now what you know so you have no choice now, so any sense if you if you lack wisdom just asked of God and he will give it to everyone liberally.

In other words, freely given to us freely and he'll give it to us without approach and make sure when you do not doubt about like a wave of the right one and see sorrow, not because because I will say that that I think should give us an indication that we when we believe something we have to continue to stay steadfast, even if we don't see it happen right away and you know we talked about this way when it came to prayer and you know in a few shows back just because you don't see it happen right away does not mean God is not working behind the scenes and that's the beauty of what God does force you know right you can't you can't move you to your like a wave won't talk about whatever opinion you hear folks think that also holds true for us that we have to hold to our difficult standards and I think that's why that's why the church you know as a as a collective body of believers around the world.

I think that's where the enemy is now is bringing his fiery darts you know it is because the church is is compromising and we are not holding true to sound doctrine. You know I was was reminded in the Colossians chapter 2 believe it is in verse eight, when God bless to the apostle Paul to say to the classic Christians don't be deceived through man's philosophy and vain deceit, according to the traditions of man and the basic principles of the world and not according to Christ's see Roy that verse says exactly what you and I just said the wind when the church starts wavering, then the members within their body starts wavering and then we have an unsteady church and now we are prone for the enemy to come in and now through all of this other stuff that he attempts to throw at us. We end up with clinging to man's philosophy and his vain deceit in his traditions instead of clinging to Christ's. The unmovable rock very good a man down again or talk about temptation churches can do what they're doing bodywork basically weakening their position at the right, but try to be the world economy more a part of the world in the world, but in verse 14 will see here so that each person if you substitute person in each church is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire in Christ, they move away from standards of God going then after desire has convened a good thing.

One is the go that's what churches think of giving way to desires of his argument. They want to be part of the world standing standards since it's almost likely the church is being part and parcel because it's like where we want we want to accept everyone into the church and we want to love everyone comes into the church but what about the things that individuals bring into the church.

You know, in an those things are may not be seen.

You know right away and it might take time, but an individual may come in with a different philosophy or some tradition and now all of a sudden this tradition, philosophy or opinion that they are holding to as truth. Now it's affecting watering down the things that are coming from the pool so behind the scenes you have this this conflict that's going on and you know I am again reminded of what how God blessed through the apostle Paul and an action we not going get there today Roy, but we will share it at all.
