Why My Prayers Aren't Heard Part 2

Listeners will back in this week after having such a fantastic week last week talking about unanswered prayer and we'll Hardy and we got Roy on the phone and praise God brother how you doing doing great. I hope you're doing well today. I am well you know last time we left off. We can finish getting that clipping so we start with that when today about when we hear people say we are all God's children.

So my question comes back to them. Are we really all God's children and does a unconverted person. God hears their prayers today or dumping well this is what Dr. Jim I have to say, let me rewrite up front with this Bible says that God does not hear and answer the prayers as we do not belong to his family. Praying is a family exercise. It belongs to those who are in the family of God. The only prayer that God hears from someone who's not a Christian is God, be merciful to me a sinner but even after we become members of the family. We begin to realize that sometimes when we pray it doesn't seem like our prayers are working Aman Roy so that question is answered.

Only prayer God hears is Lord save me a sinner. You know I use the example we were talking about something similar to this in our Christian fellowship group and I was talking to the members and I said you know you have, you might have 20 kids on the playground playing and all the mothers over there may be congregating talking amongst themselves and all of a sudden little Timmy falls off the monkey bars and scans his knee and all of a sudden little Timmy starts crying out of all of the chaos that's going on in their playground that mother will know the sound of little Timmy's voice. You know, and so little Timmy. Even though he's crying mother knows and hears that cry Cecil when he when Dr. Jeremiah talks about that family affair. That's what he's referring to. He saying you got a beat in the family. In order for God to hear from you and if you are not part of the family. There are tons and tons of verses Roy in the Bible that we just don't even have time to examine all of them but but we are enemies of God. That's what we are because we don't know him. We are not part of that family. Talk about your you're not with him and you are enemies.

That's right. If you die with me or against me. That's what Jesus said, you know Tony told us I'm sorry, you know. So what we are what we are saying is that if a person belongs to the family of God, then God hears that person's prayer and so he won't answer anyone who's not part of the family except what Dr. Jeremiah said, Lord, help me. I'm a sinner and I need to be saved so what have you got what you were the family exercise exclusive exactly exclusive flower that you have the communication and relationship with the father people all day while praying for you and I'll pray for this, and you know about her own admission that they're not following Christ, yet often fell prayer. I am praying like you know you know get into this conversation. But reality is that some point we have to look, I appreciate your prayers with the following deaf ears. Absolutely the following inscription for in both what were trying to get to you and we are all learning and continue be reminded that as we talked about the last program. Don't get yourself in a buffering zone in your communication with God, and that is worth just that their prayers are not reaching him because of the very thing they and we will get to talk about this previously, without compassion in your life that is that you hold grudges against your brothers. Are you not been forgiving to others. All the things we know need followers of Christ, and that will fix them through a couple of other points that Dr. Jeremiah is this message that they could go to be really revealing for all of season. Excellent Roy is, if we have an unstable mind.

So if we're believing God for something over here. And God answered our prayer all within hours or within a few days was like wow this prayer thing works and man when it comes to something over here and then we pray to God for and then all of a sudden we don't see anything and so we pray some more and we don't see anything and we pray some more and we don't see anything and then we got tipsy this this prayer thing. The word I knew it you know God answered me over here but see we don't come back to our sales and say why is it me is it's something that's going on in my life is the reason why my prayers is hindered, so an unstable mind in a course that's over there in James chapter 1 verses six through eight.

He says if if you going to believe believe in faith don't waiver don't waiver because when you do waiver it's it's like you just tossed about like a waiter just tossed about and you have no stability and see an unstable mind is another reason Roy why God want answered prayer at any says a double minded man and that's unstable. He's unstable in all his ways. You don't you don't. He's not grounded. You know he's looking for God to bless him over here and when God does that then it's like all right God, but then over here then see it right away like you did before. The slight well there you go, and people in my mind and talked about before, but God not BMR and English do not be deceived, God cannot be marked man reaps what he sows.

Whoever sows to please the flesh from the flesh will reap destruction sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap a life. Think about that. If we're pray to God. Only in times of crisis, but yet living differently. Basically mocking God right. Basically saying okay. Animal control leaders in the life crisis, come to well since you mocking God because you not following God's laws. Not following God's guidance and direction, and then expecting and then she prayers and you know that is not going to answer it on me. Prayers for you doing knowing all these things and you go anyway. Fitly mocking God exactly and and we we see that, I think through TV programs like know we we simply see people mocking God. We see you know things happening on the TV screen and and it's like this mockery and and and goddess is watching because his eyes is everywhere now, this is this is this next one. Roy, I think it can hit home with everybody because the two.

I think that resignation with the most people was the one that we talked about C&S unconfessed and in this one that we about to talk about now, which is motives that are impure or unrighteous motives and he talked about this and we even I in in our congregation. We studied this piece of passage in detail, but it's over. In acts chapter 8 verses 19 through 2040 talked about Simon the sorcerer and how he went about bewitching the people of the Samarian region and while he was doing this he saw Philip and how people were flocking to him and then all of a sudden he saw when the disciples laid their hands on people that they receive the Holy Spirit. And so he said wow I got have this power because you so he was power-hungry. If I if I get this power than boy. How have people flocking after me just like to flocking after Philip.

So again, his motive was was was impure. So then God bless through one of the apostles to say you better repent of this thing.

Repent of thy wickedness and pray God I perhaps that the thought of your heart may be forgiven. You, for I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. So the apostate was saying you so deep and consumed with your sin that you can't see the work that God is doing through us so that God can get the glory.

Not us. You where Simon see want to get the glory himself and and there will what happened next. Came came full circle right pray to the Lord for many years.

That may happen to me. So I think you recognize that we could indicate that it was spending in that respect was asking them to pray have that nothing would happen to write yes and you know what that when I look at that I asked myself the question, Simon why you couldn't pray for yourself.

Did you recognize based on what the apostles told you that you were indeed looking at things from the wrong with the wrong motive. This is why God would not answer you and so you needed someone to pray for you because he was so deep in sin and and I think I think you're right really may have been headed in that direction, but whether or not he achieved it.

We don't know because I think the verse after that, the two apostles. They just kind of went on their way. They did you know they didn't say that they pray for them or anything like password coming up on another bring Roy, but this is so good that you know when when folks listen and they wonder within themselves God, why is my prayers not being answered and were given you some reason got Dr. Jeremiah with the message and so we come in back after the break.

James four verse three says you and you do not receive, because you that you may spend on your pleasures. Now let's just be honest about this many women. God is not the big GD sky is not a sugar daddy just waiting for you to come and tell him all of fluffy little wonderful things you would like. Maybe we knew that when we were little, but grown-ups need to know better. God is not there in heaven just waiting for you so he can give you everything you ever dreamed of.

No matter what you've heard on television or on C&S. The problem like we talked about before Roy problem is we want to try God to see materially if we could get from him what we ask of him but but where were going at it the wrong way in the course. That's and that's in an unrighteous motive. You know, because just just like we talked about. That's an unrighteous motive, even though we he was speaking about prayers being amiss. Your prayers are not answered because we are asking with the wrong mine and we are asking with the wrong heart of the narrative. The Bible will harmful for the adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world me to give garbage reviews before the narrative around this number never quite looked at it like this. Those who are spiritually unfaithful, who love the world, rather than God for spiritual adultery. That's looking referring to spiritual goal. I've never really looked at it like that to be quite honest unit that basically adultery being what unfaithfulness to your loved one right one to one you have union with in your the holiest of unions is with her father. And if we put worldly things ahead of that we basically commit adultery to that relationship with what what analogy absolutely right that's that's that's beautiful, you know, because all again all of what we possess is born again believers it's because God of God, and I think once we recognize everything we have everything we know every every possession that we ever owned. It's all belong to us and it's given to us for his glory, and so I want to play this last clip I want to get this one, and before the show ends when you hear folks say, I'm looking for God to say yes, and any other thing is unacceptable. Well, listen to this last clip when you pray. If the request is wrong, God says no you know knows and if you try to teach our kids but we don't like it when it comes back to us.

Yes is the answer we want knows an answer and I am so thankful for the times over my life as I look back over my shoulder when I have prayed for something and got his know I was in see the reason why Roy is because God knows that if he gave it to us at the time he knew what we would do to it all with it so we didn't get it at the time. We pray this because we might simply not be ready to receive it right really might not be ready. The maybe ready maybe is not common for maybe maturing us out just a little bit further etc. think that's what you need to monitor back to what we mentioned in the first show last week was his leg or not our way.

Tom is not our time, and sometimes it's awfully hard for most constructs especially likely to very, very hard for us to accept and immediate gratification society that we live in. Here the US. What about brotherly conflict. We know we have brotherly conflict going on the church all the time in the course EE again gave us some versus Mark chapter 11 verses 25 and 26 you have that in front of the peer Mark chapter 11 years versus 25 and 26. I'll be right there with you want and you know prayer. I think when we when we look at it in terms of if we got conflict with someone any type of conflict that will hinder again your communication in prayer with God so you know prayers that you don't pray unconfessed sin. An unstable mind AA motive. That's unrighteous and now were talking about this conflict will brotherly conflict.

So if you have that within you know within the church within your household that will hinder your prayers so you go to God and based on Mark 11 you got now okay will literally death for this listeners Mark 1120 pray you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your father in heaven may forgive you your soon in this particular version will cut 26 footnoted. I don't know if version basically really know what that saying is it's like you.

You go to your single, your terrible your shower all of a sudden you got to standing water in it you showering in the water is is draining very very slow. Willis plugged up.

It could be plugged up with anything, so the water can't get through because is plugged in. See, the same way. Your prayers get hindered is because that plug just like it's in your drain, it's because you have a conflict with the brother that you have not resolved that could be an issue on why your prayers are not being answered. You neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive so see forgiveness is the drain opener if you will light like you run, you run that thing the plumbers call the snake you run yet you run nothing down the drain. And boy, he pushes through.

He pushes truly pushes through any cranks it with the handle and because he's trying to get that drain open and see forgiveness is that way of getting things back to God and your prayers not being hindered. It's such a blessing. I think the late we maybe get this last one, and he Roy Annette's away. If you have an uncompassionate heart. So if you if you if you are not looking at people you looking down at people, you know that that's a way to keep your prayers from being hindered.

Also, because what it does is if Jesus had compassion for us and that he's listening to our prayers. If we are part of his family, and if we have confessed our sins. And if we don't have brotherly conflict and if we don't, we pray to God likely supposed to be praying and if we have a mind that is open to him so that we can receive the word of God not only just speak the word back but be open to receiving we we got a couple more minutes, he Roy you want to inject something you do all of that will Proverbs 2113 years to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered I ever did not listen to the need in the desires of those around them. Either that are less fortunate. You know God will not hear you because you not heard the cry of the poor people need to be fed. People need to be closer than he would need to be visited right to you. Never knew you because you didn't feed the hungry, you didn't visit McLeod the cold.

This is what is still there and by compassionate means compassion in this particular stance and you have compassion on those less fortunate that you love like Jesus love a man and you know when we give Roy to those who are less fortunate than us how we GF is just important as what we did, because again it goes back to that motive. If my motive is impure on why I'm giving. In other words, hey, get get about 5060 people gathered around okay. We got Joel here and you know Joe needs something in you and I and I'm gonna give $500 to because Joe was in the everybody get the cameras rolling ghetto let let me let me get this check here to Joe seat. So if your motive is for you to see others to see what you're doing and again that motive is impure in your blessing.
