What can the born again believer do about racism?

We had such a phenomenal was lots on the last couple of ball shows that we did in reference to our race, racism and reconciliation. Just a lot of good feedback. You know, things that we are not going to hear in the pool. So we thought we would just sort like build on those two shows for this these next two shells that's exactly right will after after all the feedback and course. We've had some men's breakfast on the way and had a chance to talk about some his topics. And it is deftly something that needs to continue. We were ready to stop so let's get into it all right.

So, will that last week we were with our guys on Friday morning and the shoe absent Bill number did a little research on the Internet which seems to be everybody's tool. These days, from Google. People must learn to hate.

If they can learn to hate that can be taught love and that's what we said on on the first show is that this type of hate. Racial hate is a learned behavior and it comes from individuals who are not thinking rationally and you know we had some definitions on the first two shows that we did on racism in regards to definition how a person thinks themselves to be Morris's superior right you know that then others. Well you're exactly right.

It's talk and then it's lower from watching this also taught from some of this, I would say some of the comments made by people around the person, or even parents or lack of pants just out in the community. What child may see your what another person may see and learn and not what's important about that is that if you just came every can be taught to hate we could be taught.

It was sort of be taught to love and I think one thing that we need to shares we've always shared is it's never too late. No matter where you walk of life where you walk with God. He can take these things and turn them into good. He could manifest through you and in you to to make the change exactly and and the person would have to want this change, but and we've had all kinds. I think there's all kinds of programs that's out there, probably more secular than that's happening in the church. That's one reason why were talking about the subject is because we don't have it talked about a lot, you know, in the pool. You know for fear of rubbing someone the wrong way are getting some feelings hurt.

But you know when you are not living according to biblical standards and when the Scripture is is taught it's going to hurt you. But of course it is what they do some on the go will ask about the stylists take longer talk through this is a person has to want in order for them to get it or to pursue it or want to change even when the Bible tells us we need to pray for Amy's lover's right so we don't to care for them and I was most likely don't like her. So Scripture tells us to pray for them and love Lorraine so if you think of this issue. In that context, mostly was listening know that racism is wrong. They may not change or may not like they want to change because something's happened in the past or some white man did something wrong to me. Your some black men did something wrong to me. So therefore I'm going to hate all those people, but in our hearts we know that that's wrong. Now you may make a conscious decision to try to stay on that path. But there's much else.

Let's listen back to biblical directive. You know it's wrong, but you don't want to change, but will challenge you to pray for that change. Even though you and your mind say I don't want change, but because you know that you should change these need to pray for that. Might God make that change in your life and change exactly, that change may come about through some type of external stimulus right you know to to jolt something within the individual so a brother may have to come and give you a word or to say hey you know tone you know yourself down because you are you getting a little bit forward or right you know your your bordering that line of of being belligerent right you know toward another individual that I think of that movie that was some earlier this year.

I think Billy Bob Thornton was. It was in that movie were he was. Hosts cast. I think back in the 50s and 60s in a strictly one-off brief memory but the movie was Comcast and that the one the board members had a real hard heart towards the black population. It was during desegregation. Maybe just before desegregation because they were trying to get a school established for the black community and do the right thing and then they were without facilities for member correctly and so would Bob Thornton was this real hard line racist will cough it was no longer racist towards the African-American black community, but through the act of kindness from one of the African-American black women, which he did not realize until little bit later. It showed him the they were much better and in spirit than he thought that person to be just like but way better than him because they were loving out of the consort and spite of all the abuse and in the mistreatment that she was experiencing through the movie and that interchange in his heart. So the point being love your neighbor as love your neighbor right yourself and if you loving your neighbor irrespective of how you feel will you affect change yes and you know I think that was demonstrated from the congregation in South Carolina when the young man came and you know shot up that church down there, which I know I listening audience probably ever heard, but that the congregation forgave that they did you know and and it was such an outpouring of love and it was genuine.

Yeah very much and you know so please, you know, when we look at that. We say that is a prime example of what we're talking about when it comes to coming back to the standards because we all have to live by a standard, whether it's our own standard that we set for ourselves which will fail. But if were talking to you who are born again you have a biblical standard so the biblical standard is the standard that God set in his word because we don't want ourselves to be affected by the individual who is angry and look what Proverbs 22 verses 24 and 25 says it says make no friendship with an angry man and with a serious man, do not go last. You learn his ways and you incur judgment. For yourself, so being around this and if you if you are not equipped biblically with the word of God. This these passages is saying that you will be affected by if you allow yourself to continuously be bombarded by it and allow it to enter your mind and heart little sailor growing up birds feather flock together right so that is what is a pop and you start to look like back like feel like the people that you're around. It's just the influence that others have on you have to set yourself apart exactly and this would affect it's what we talk. Most good and the Matthew 513 through 16 you are the salt of the earth with the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again.

It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and give light to everyone in the house in the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven say, and I love that part about the salt. Because salt serves a lot of purposes. Sudan and one thing salt does in the way food was preserved in old times and I'm telling my age a little bit now, but it was it was you would people put meat and salt right at salt would preserve the meat, because they have refrigerators and things like that to keep the cold so it's preservative. It acts as a preservative amongst other things. So we ought to preserve God's word to the lost and dying world is so when we get it we preserve it, and when we give it to others. We give it without judgment. We give in love right and we let we let God's and his Holy Spirit interest is exactly right. One of things that I've always found interesting is that most people don't speak up will just they may not agree with what's going on with the distal speaker and I think that's where the Scripture speaks out while the in the salt of the world means that think about what would happen if the salt we rubbed and wound burns less right so but your point about preserving, but also can disinfect the home create some stimulus into the body so we need to be the salt of the earth the spiritual salt if you will, and challenge these things that are going on and albeit when a target confrontation with the challenge we talk about stand on your standards and speak to a person that society. This is not right step out of this conversation or brother that's not biblical. We should beast should be talking like this we should be thinking like this we should be acting like this right and if and if you know you if it's not happening inside your local church take it to your leadership. Yes, take it to your leadership because the leadership they know the things that are happening and going on around the church and in society in general and and if we are the salt we need to come and de-escalate a lot of this this anger and hate and irrational thinking, but only the Holy Spirit can do that but we are his hands and we are speak.

I wonder, will statistically speaking, what if they're measuring this what people's response time is today versus what was 15 years ago before you had texting and social media we could post immediate responses were your common natural force to think about what you say because you compose it to phone call and talk to somebody running worse today. You disc you going to get on handheld phone orphanage type of response to someone else's commentary or to someone who said something to you without thinking about where you may reply.

The call takes over the spiritual. I think often times it just runs right over what we know to be right but just an immediate response to your to your Scripture and humility is a hard thing to practice it is but it's the greatest thing was the least among you shall be the greatest of what is that say that means those who are serving in just basically worried about others and loving others first will be the greatest among us, and if before jumping out and jumping on top of people and so I'm going I'm going out do you buy what you just said to tell you how I'm right. Racism persist in America still people with black sounding names had to send out 50% more job applications than people with white sounding names and get a call back black man's three times more likely to be source of traffic stop and six times more likely to go to jail than a white male. If a black person kills white person he or she is twice as likely to receive the deficits as a white person kills a black person black servant to 20% more time in prison. White people for the same crimes blocks are 38% more likely to be sentenced to death.

The white people for the same crimes racism persist America's churches as well. Only 32% white pastor strongly agree that my church is involved with racial reconciliation at the local level. 53% of African-American pastor strongly agree with the statement, only 56% of evangelicals believe that people of color are often put in a social disadvantage because of their race. 84% of Blacks agree with the statement, the people could often put a social this event because of race. Recent studies show that 86% of America's churches are composed of one predominant racial group was Asian Korean African-American location. Whatever happens to be, while 90% positive pastor so your Congress and would welcome a sermon on racial reconciliation only 26% say leaders in the church have encouraged him to preach on the subject liked what you mentioned earlier will you if it not been talked about you as the congregant or board member or elder should go speak to the pastor say you were we got the heart to love people would just need to be talk about how to do something about this and cursing it. That's right because it's it's you know it's rapid it's an epidemic. It's something that has always been in our society, and you know we we've got things that is available to us and we can talk about these things and we can actually give solutions regarding these things, but we can't do the things for you. We can talk about what you need to do in order to do these things but we cannot do that for you. So that's that's where it takes you the listener out there right you listening to what we're talking about now you are the one, as it was stated Troy and myself earlier.

Go to the pastor and say hey these are issues that we need to discuss. We don't have to discuss them as a large congregation but maybe in small groups.

You know, however, the spirit of God leads you to do it, but it needs to be done.

Does will not. I would encourage you as well. If you're listening and you have the motivation and drive to go speak, don't just go with the problem take a solution to your pastor take to become humble solutions or ideas of how to engage in move move the needle forward because you folks on our pastors overworked.

There one person or two people filed in the church of many many hundreds trying to care for a lot of folks, and it's it's most helpful when you pray about this ahead of time.

No incident talk you have some ideas the gospel in your heart to help share and maybe you're the ones can help be the catalyst to move this project forward. And I might add. He said passes over work and I just want to add and underpaid to you know because you you can't. You really can't get paid enough to quiet a pastor goes through in all of the things that the congregation don't see you know the continuous prayers, you know, the sore knees from being on his knees going to God, praying in reference to a project or you know some finance that needs to come through it you know it's constant you know the cause nonstop because in each call that that pastor get vague they get it, and the individual. On the other end. They expect you to respond. You know when they call right it's not, I'll get back with you in a day or two they want some response now and so if you have a congregation of the small congregation of two 300 people you know in you getting calls like this constantly. Hey, you know my aunt is in the hospital. Can you come right now they're about to do surgery and we just want you there with us in all or we have a son or wayward daughter. You know that's gone awry. You know, can you come over and pray for us because they are in jail we we need him to get out. We just need you to say a couple of words of encouragement.

All these things is constant will and then that goes back to the importance of supporting your pastor properly as it may be disposed to move out of your comfort zone. You as the person listening congregant in the church to go do something totally different that I would encourage you to pray about that because we all know that that support network is so critical, so critical and plus it helps bring the whole body closer together when you're all you already serving your loving the same Christ and save heavenly father if you're working together towards that end.

How much closer, and how much more blessed would be, as part of the congregation, so will the thing that comes to mind. This is were talking to the statistics and it was certainly about my dear brother last week in a week.
