You will is great to see you you you look like you might go something wire around, look, it is hard to tell if I got a suntan or not, but it is good to be back on this show. Roy, we have the Rev. Kendall McBroom, who is pastor of Turner Chapel, a ME church in High Point and we want to welcome Pastor McBroom to man talk. Welcome Pastor welcome Pastor my grateful and glad to be. So Pastor tell us little bit about yourself. So the audience can just know who you are burning Apple. In High Point, not Carolina and in the community and am a native of Burlington, North Carolina born and raised graduate from there there when all you college went to college and university in Kenya returned back to North Carolina. Duke University is my math.

The divinity and map the public policy graduated last year and I would leave my method is my first appointment last year right a week before graduation have been involved in the community, locally as well as nationally for internship in field education experience. I'll focus on really the uplift of the uplift of community that are impoverished that are often left out or marginalized. And that's been my background now for the last five or five or so year.

Praise God tested it seems like you very active physiology find time to get all the degree work done is quite amazing yeah I know it would definitely have nothing but God. There praise God when you know how topic today is how to stop grieving the Holy Spirit and in Pastor we see a lot of things is happening around in the news and what we want to focus on for this segment is how do we get the church to stop grieving the Holy Spirit as it's talked about in Ephesians chapter 4 verses 25 to 32 but we going to look at verses 25 to 28 and Roy, reading 25 to 28 okay think you will.

Ephesians 425 through 28. Therefore, putting away lying, with each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath and anger, nor give place to the devil that who let him who stole still no longer rather let him labor, working with his hands. What is good that he may have something to give to him who has need praise God and with course we were reading from the new King James version there, but as you listen to that pastor. How do the church take these verses. How do you present these verses to your congregation. If we are guilty of grieving the Holy Spirit is great, great, great daughter or thought all I think I think I will take this from 25 and only got a new and about international bird blatantly. You must put off all your neighbor. We are all members of one body, and I think one of the way. Don't about all we don't want another and with one another when we either put on God or either will be how to go along to get along don't want to look at it, don't want to make anyone Philip on people who don't want to be put in the hot I believe in those late God can't do the transformative the breaking the ranch forming the molding work that God desires to do and I live because we simply allowed fall. Both the distant fault both ideology both back off behavior to take the place of the gospel and of the Christian message of God. That's one of the way that we greet the. One of the way the we get rid of that is anything I'm going to be in love my neighbor the truth about what about our group about default narrative. All doing this that are starting their out in the top. That's good pastor, so if I'm hearing you correctly so the false truths and the façades that's that tends to be more more people gravitating towards the modern-day church.

I think were getting were getting away from the word of God exactly in the fundamental truths that live there. It works instead of it were were supposed to be in the world but not of the world book I think is happening across at least in the US culture appears to be that the work, the church is becoming part of the world rather than in the world and discreteness false truths fault for this façade. False narrative is going on about what's what's right and what's wrong and you know Roy any time when as a pastor I know anytime when you speaking the truth. You know's in today's time. People don't want to hear that they'll know they want their ears tickled and and and I think when they get that then they feel like perhaps maybe we had church so pastor I appreciate the fact that you talked about, you know all of these falsehoods because in the verses prior to this in Ephesians. It talks about taking putting off the old man and putting on the new man and so so we who are born again we can associate and understand what the people who are still out there in the world are going through, and God has brought us from that point so so when you speak to your congregation in reference to the life that you once lived, and now the life that you're living now. How do you put that in perspective to where you know them. The members and congregants would understand that. I think one of the way it all and departed lot of young@I don't have much as the people that all though in a way, however, one of the things that I thought of honing in on it that their work on the thing that I've learned there and from the bank like the money is what encourages me and I they found that that by bidding at their feet and by learning from them.

I am able to now take my life in a way to God and moving that directing that that God though, and explaining that my congregation is really talking to them the story that they know that they been older with the Christian witness of the Babin old that in a way to help them understand where were added, not what were always going to be an we have to grow by all on even some of the things that we used to do back in the day, dumbfounded product back up on it, but not all of them are bad about our people are like that but they would get behaviorism back.though anything that all I find my bed to ensure that they understand the journey and not a merit attorney and not a late what the Guardian out of bed talking that that that in that way you know Timothy was a young pastor to so I a lot of age and in as you begin to grow and blossom into you know that pastor that God is called you to be then if the membership is open to receive that end and begin to support you in those ways and I think that that is a testament to God bringing you to the place where you whack.

So not only you can grow. But the members as well was a good party, especially to recognize that that's that's coming just the humility in what you just said you know that some of big first step because the your congregations go to recognize that he knows he's not will often say this is a man with an opinion doesn't have an argument with minimal experience so you you have to go to these folks can some things are going through. You haven't had opportunity to be a part of yet or gone through in your life.

That's a great approach to your congregation tribute very humbling with such humility come through that so because you know as the as the leadership goes, so goes the congregation so and in order for the congregation to see and and and witnessed the things.

For example, you are involved in them and I'm very well impressed about a lot of the things that you mentioned that you are involved in because this is what we need. We need young men who are willing to step out on faith and let God be the one who directs and alter their steps in a way that we as the church can come into an agreement, you know, with the direction that God is bringing us in all of the time. You know, people are not going to agree with the direction that you want to go in my thing until you have a pastor. Meaner, my and my thumb in my 33 years of of of pastoring and ministering the gospel. Yes, that this is something that's going to happen. Coming up on a break here faster so it would come back with this. I will get a little bit to talk where we want to listen crazy things happen to you, young pastor missing names and forcing them come back to the Scripture window constructively coming to the second half have your CM and would love to have you join their community of men for breakfast every first and third Friday of every month and Bible discussions and fellowship after the pleasant breakfast in town meeting location is another gracious host jerking First Christian Church and Connors will 1130 N. Remember, affordable chiropractic on the W. Lexington Ave. in High Point Hall 336 85, 1987534 break we just let us know the craziest things happen to you might bring a little bit humored to our listeners had something to come up it comes to mind since you been leadership as a pastor, all of it very dear all. Anyway, well, and Bible study one let one Wednesday night and all and I were talking about them.

I'm very worried very, very much so. No acute mist in the work to be with or and be with him Harvey and that all and I had a member went totally left field on and all and it caught me off guard out the hardest thing was trying to get back on path and bring it back in that caught me way off.

I will I will talk about that question is did you know my back on track know everything that's okay to okay verse 26 pastor says be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath around his is his anger. If you're married, listen to this.

This especially speaks to both spouses, men and women because too often we all will so you we are good and we should not go to a dispute going exactly exactly. So how does this verse speak to you pastor yet. So when I would like it. Got it out after I went to my date, and you know you will be. Like art are in your anger do not. What does that mean that do not and I think that that man to all bait. Don't be angry. It gives room for it to be and it recognized that angry, but given the most out of but it let no that we did not being in that we went to get talk about being in the context is very much so all, do no harm, no harm, while all bring no mallet. As of now, and every problem out later in the end of happy but but really bring no harm to yourself to the person wasting with with their angry no physical harm. The arm know you anything like that. And then, even when it but do not let the sun go down while your angry. I think that's not did you know when the wind goes down. But, but, even at the close of an argument right all I think people can leave from an argument or disagreement. All that with one another and in no note of of of clarity or note that the of compromise when they leave that argument, though the me that's what it you can be angry but never leave that waste and arming someone and never leave that weight. The thing with the same amount of anger that you had when you first enter the conversation with the situation because he and going into verse 27 it says don't give place to the devil so so right. That's what happened when if we continue to dwell on it number one that then that means we're not letting you go. If we continue to talk about it. That means were not letting it go. So if we if we have allowed ourselves to be angry because again as Pastor put it it it's that human emotion that's part of us were going to get angry but I think this angry is the is the anger because there is a righteous anger in our words. In other words, you can have an anger against someone who is seeming or someone who was doing someone else harm so right so yes this this anger here it is, is when we when we overstep that boundary into that scene boundary area. That's when we begin to give place to the devil in the Scripture tell us, don't go there just just don't don't overstep the boundary in which God has established for us absolutely, and I thought about and brought up in the comment. What I thought about inmate and I want to hear hear what the story of Cain and Abel painted angry and allowed in Dallas right allowed that anger that there is a point where you brought it all and I think often where where where we'd be right now it at and I don't believe there yet. Praise God for that.

But if the fight that we don't want to get the kind you are by where we are so angry at the deli of our brother. Are there and beat the retaliate and allow the devil that old and I live. I think that the bank of being is not where anyone any of us want to be, but FYI think you know Paul, that all already said whenever you whenever you let up whenever you let it.

The sun go down on your anger would you let a company based in close on your anger whenever you let those things happen you allow bait for the devil to come in and started to go with your mind with the heart think with your most and moving away that the debris on the physical, verbal, or any other form of mallet to figuratively inquiry. That's where I think righteous anger and regions of the country to visit returns to bitterness because you you angry for the right reason and that righteousness and following Christ.

But if you focus on will to voice her to let it fester and then I can say conjunction shoulder and starts turning into bitterness and in that retaliatory mindset and are being vindictive or whatever you choose to chase in the pursuit right so I think that's the difference is turn it loose. What you get anger in your heart from a righteous perspective. The knees prayed up and turn it back over to God's okay brother I'll address it until we address it and turn the back of you and see and I theorize this is this is some of the things that were saying you know in a lot of the protesting that's going on.

You know it.

It is a unrighteous thing when there's social injustice in Omaha mean when you know that this is just unrighteous. However, and we can we can be angry at that. But at the same token, if we allow our anger to be carried over to the point of being lawless. Now we've overstep the boundaries of God and we entered that that since all yeah and I think there's a peace that is maybe one transition before the two will is you. Anger is one thing, you have a righteous anger about something is going wrong. But then when you turn that toward your brother before the violence occurs of it there's a transition that potentially occurs to a between those two pieces right between the lawlessness and because I could be angry righteously and don't allow something you've done. But then when I get angry with you as my brother and then my my attitude starts to reflect that. That's that's that's really were.

We got address it as well because that's where the, the treatment of others. The lack of love we go back to love your neighbor which is everyone you can see it doesn't say anything about hold them accountable in an abusive manner is about loving them through the wrongdoings right.

A man and he goes in this this winds up I versus let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands. What is good that she may have something to give to him who is who has need. So how does this make you pastor yeah I mean I don't think about a number being all will go back real quick point. I one day I think I was agreeing with epic. Don't and that you know something that happened in there. We don't yard our sibling is not all but see them as the enemy, or even as someone not made in the image of the same God in the image we are made and so I think that when we remove that factor all that that being able to argue my brother to add my brother. We do, we open up that late date and contact this bird when I'm thinking about it. I that this idea of war in the idea of of not building any longer, or thinking of the thinking of a behavior is not for one health but for the benefit of the entire unit right word even if work is not so that I could get rid of that I'll be independent.

What that I'll be wealthy all the thing that those that may have something to stare with those in need that with doing something with my hand on able to contribute to the larger group of the faith. All and so you know doing it didn't feel as a part at that the Turkish built keynote in the stages of figuring it the way out understanding itself figuring out who it is in the body of Christ, and so they have to put down the beat instruct them in a way early on so that they look different and how the Greek and those who were in polytheism, the kind of behavior and make it look different in how they operate in. One way to do that is it it it. You have the guilt that the gift and the talent in the thing that God is blessed with the benefit not only yourself but to benefit the home and I really think all is beginning at all anything offensively. You know the feeling from your store printer.

By the moment. I found the home was what it is exactly what Jesus did like it was all about everybody you love and everybody else. I think of something to carry brothers and sisters. That's good pastoral pastors been great having with us with just a few more seconds. Pressure will want to give a quick plan of salvation. Well, you know, confess that you are a sinner believe that Jesus died on the cross rose again the third day according to the Scriptures because you can't save yourself and asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart and when you do that you'll do it and you'll be born again to find the body socially or part of exactly as we wrap up today show.
