Psalm 37. The promises of God. If you remember the reason were dealing with. This is we need something to hold onto something that we can take take to the bank, something that is assured something that we can absolutely count on and in God's word God gave numerous promises not just statements but promises that he's made to us that we can count on and I found that I really needed Psalm 37 and I'm going to deal with this this morning. I want you to really pay close attention if you can.

Beginning in verse three. Psalm 37 Liggett verse three trust in the Lord and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land and verily thou shalt be fed. Verse four delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Verse five.

Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy judgment as the noonday notice for seven our last first. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him. Fret not thyself because of him who prospered in his way.

Because of the man who bring of the wicked devices to pass. These are great versus our thinking. These are great versus are they I thought so trust in the Lord and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be dead was a nice so you have no idea how wonderful that versus father I pray the it blesses says you have promised in your word, and given us promises and your word and Lord I thank you for the things that you do for us that we notice and Lord I thank you for the things that you often do for us that we don't ever notice we would only notice them if they weren't there, but you faithfully do them without gratitude without thanks from us. Oftentimes, thank you for being so good Lord to all the folks that are gathered here today. We appreciate their presence.

I hope Lord that they will get something from your word as you always do when you read your word in your name we pray. Amen. Amazing here how the Bible often you know outlines itself in really. Verse three is a point verse four is a point verse five and six are a point. I guess in verse seven there, separated, and they all have their own promises. They all have their own statements. They all have their own things that we can take to the bank when we need them the most and they all represent a major area of our life in him and explain all that in just a second notice verse three.

If you would Bible says trust in the Lord and do good. In other words, this is what I'm asking you to do and if you do that, then God has made a promise he said trust in the Lord and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed now what is this verse me that were trust in the Hebrew here is the word that means this to be confident, to be sure to be more to put confidence in. That's what he says if you will put confidence in the Lord, if you will trust if if you will be bold if you will be sure if you will learn morning. He says if you do that and do good. Know what is it mean to do good is it welded me to do goods do good deeds preach or something like that this word good in the in the Hebrew means this it means best best so this is what God says if you will put your confidence in me, if you will trust me, if you will be bold in me. It reminds me when God says later on the new test. We know that we ought to come boldly to the throne of grace come boldly to the throne of God. Give all requests to God.

That means this we have reason this morning to be bold because gods tell us that we can be because if you been saved by the grace of God you can come boldly to the throne of God.

And here's why. Because that's exactly where he wants you to come oftentimes was a well want to bother God with my issue and I don't want to think on what you talk about. That's what he wants us to go to our neighbor. He doesn't want us to go to a break or television or for something else and try to get our resources is okay to do that where he wants us to come first and foremost is the throne says if you will trust me. Put your confidence in me, come boldly to me and asked not what you want what's best. He says this so shalt thou dwell in the land, not word well means to reside that word land is the word what he is saying is this, if you will trust me while you live on this earth. If you'll just trust me and do its best, even though you might not understand if I've given you principles for my word if you'll just obey. If you'll just trust me, but your confidence in me member, the Bible says, put no confidence in the flesh don't run confidence in yourself and confidence another trust and depend on him. Picture confidence in him and do what's best and God says you live in here on this are and will you do verily thou shalt be what fed word for it means to greens or pasture.

This is what God says if you will trust me, I'll take care of you.

I'll feed you. Is this wherever you are. There's nourishment wherever you are there. Is there something to eat wherever you go. Sometimes pastors not that great.

Just as my family this past week we have Wesley, we have my in-laws have a bull somehow that will Get out of the pin and I live in a subdivision, a subdivision, as Rhodes houses and a big moonwalking through the subdivision. My mom HAD to go get this molder in the week so guess what, they decided last night. Stakes are common, they can keep them in the pin stakes are counted as gray. That's why can't let them out this week so I can get some stay is I don't know how I got in the know what it is not even touch a somehow is out of that feeling. I don't know how to read neighbors call.

There's like a thousand pound bull running down the street tells anyone ever got. That's what pasture is. That's what grazing is.

God says is if you'll be if you'll just trust me if you have faith in me. If you'll put your confidence in me. That's what faith is. Faith is the substance of things going for the evidence of things not seen. That means there's got even though I can't see and I don't know for sure I'm just going to trust you, put my confidence in you and I would be to know that you, me, my knee, God says if you put faith in me that I need you means this faith brings the feeding faith brings the feeding. If you have unwavering faith in God, you will receive unwavering results from him. That's a promise.

He says if you'll just trust me, you'll just put your faith in me.

I'll feed you presumably tried only I don't know of that limits a something you know why my years of ministry. Things are different economies different, and I understand all that, I certainly had some extremely lean times in evangelism we just asked my wife about that but I didn't have probably as many lean times and the enormity of lean times that my mom and dad had oftentimes in evangelism and I remember as a kid getting down and praying that God would provide food for us on ever get one revival meeting my dad drove to left. Florida drove from Florida to Ohio. We left one always in Florida to Ohio to preach a meeting a man asked that hey I need you to come really need you to come and that's well known in Florida so long as you have.

I really need to come is it okay because usually try to book meetings in areas so so he left Florida when all it Ohio when that meeting was done on Friday night, had to drive all way back down to Florida to start his next meeting, but I passed one and become we drove all the way up there and you know my dad had a at that point and airstream travel trailer in a suburban a blue-and-white Chevy suburban at a 454 engine in it and you know you don't get real great gas mileage with that I have an 85 Chevy truck. That's what I drive and undertake something you know it's just like you can literally hear the gas coming out while you're driving so my dad drove all it Florida Mall in Ohio and I remember it you know vaguely I was young I was to but I remember and I mean I was eight, nine, 10 somewhere in there when all way up there preach that revival meeting in in in Ohio had numerous people saved really had a great meeting got done pasture didn't give him a love offering didn't give many money for gas didn't pay for any meals during the day. We ate on her own. Dad got in the car and started driving back down to Florida and I I just remember that time because it was a lean time anyway and then you spend in 04 500 bucks to get up there for 500 bucks to get down a whole week of no income. You've spent $1000 basically to go up and preach this meeting in your next meeting we had us a little church in Florida had about 40 people. I remember as a kid. The concern I member seen the concern on mom more than dad.

I just remember it and I remember those times and praying we get the car were heading down in Lord bless give a safety as we travel and Lord protect us from traffic. Create a hedge is I just heard that phrase. I pray that now oftentimes is my mom always create a hedge around us, protect us from oncoming traffic and a key parts keep our vehicle mechanically sound.

They just had everything that we asked every time we left Lord, somehow, would you provide are need is a kid they didn't tell me there need. I didn't know all the things gonna tell you something.

We got to that little church and in Florida and I don't know what all collated and share all these things with me, but you talk about down before we got there. There's just nothing and just meeting starts and got me energetic and ready to go and just do what God wants you to do and that little church of about 40 people. God begin to bring revival to that church. There is an individual in that church that came and put tires not only on my dad's vehicle but on the travel trailer bought some things that needed fixed our hot water heater.

We had begun to go bad ownership trailer that individual probably put almost for $5000 fixing up our trailer stuff that needed that little church gave one of the largest love offering just that year.

This is as if God said if you have faith in me.

I'll feed you and their friend. Oftentimes, we think, gotta have this job and I got this I got to do this and so we sacrifice church and family and everything because we think we gotta do this to meet the needs come here to tell you. God leads Arnie Johnson takes care that our faith in an economy that is obviously going to crumble our faith in a God crumble said you you you trust me I'll feed you faith. Number two verse four he says this delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give the shall give thee the desires of thine heart. He gives us a promise here that were to get the desires of our heart.

If we delight ourselves in the Lord now.

I've always taken delight thyself Lord to be certain thing you know, make me know that the things God doesn't make you happy and you know that's where you're just that you know that's what you enjoy kind of thing right. I did some digging is always doing this war delight is a very interesting word in the Hebrew it means pliable. It means delicate it mean Alexa or get a were delightful and like like a delight it is. It's like something that's very pliable, very soft, very movable. You just it is very delicate but it just moves wherever you wanted to move it means pliable and I thought what I don't make sense pliable thyself in the Lord, what is he saying it's amazing what this word delight means and I started following it through the Bible and I realize that in almost all the uses were. This particular word for delight is you know what it basically is saying is this is that you and I have to be pliable to God. Another words are delight is to do what God wants us to do our delight is to be formed by God are delight is for him to make out of us what he wants us to be.

It's the word if you want to write it down for this first submission delight myself in the Lord make him the priority. Whatever he wants wherever he wants you to go be pliable before we release stubborn. You know the Bible says he that being often reproved and hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed is be pliable, be delightful. The Lord God, whatever you want to make them you have you want to move me.

He said this, if you will delight yourself in the Lord that he will give you the desires of thine heart. That means this. Whatever is God's desire will become my desire because I am pliable. Hey mom bendable.

Whatever God wants me to do for means this whatever my desires.

God doesn't like all remove anybody out there at some my nose. I had to get over there. When you say preacher what you mean pliable was a dimming God says is if you submit to me you let me have the priority in your life. You follow me, you do what I want you to do you. You allow your self to be put to me. He says this then I will reward you by giving you the desires of your heart that here's was wonderful. When you pliable and you let God change you. That means God is good and give you the desires. Do you understand where your preachers going this morning. That means this God will make you what he wants you to have all of us. Now what would make you the happiest is what God wanted you to have anyway now. Not only are you doing what God wants you to do that make you happier than anything you could do this past week we had a talk artist evangelist and you did a good job for us. We never met them kind of thing and I'm in if you saw his RV out here, you have okay. It was pitiful is him, his wife, two kids and a dog and why. Anytime anybody is in a bad situation living. They always have an animal. Let's just make it worse slow my don't whatever I got run bus routes for years in college or in a bus run high school. Today I go to Florida and I go to some of the slums.

We called Lord is back in the swamps. I mean it's not like city slums. A minute is out in the Martian dirt and you'd go to a trailer ditty and have hardly a floor and there be a big satellite dish out in the yard in Florida but have no TV, no floor, no running water bath and any work. Bless God I got a TV and there be $39,000 come out of that trailer is like we live a miserable life. Let's just add something filthy, something to go to the bathroom in the house… Bring that in your they live in this RV the Gatorade head up north it's a four cylinder 80 something Toyota truck with the cab over real little tiny RV hears him his wife, two children, a dog and they live in that full-time. He just had to put a new alternator on it alternate one out some else went out couple weeks ago and they came to our church try to minister. I know it is like to live in the road.

I know what it's like to live in a trailer I know what it's like living in in the trailer. I lived in was little bit bigger than that one and I know how hard even that was done adjacent you talk to them and you hang around like we did the scene know they might've been faking. But they seem like some of the happiest people I've ever met.

The average of us would say you have put me in that full-time we can be acting happy. You know why that doesn't look appealing to you and it might not look like really satisfying and contending to you, but when people are pliable to God.

God moves them and changes them and all of a sudden when God is able to get a holy you he will put in you desires that you would normally have and all of a sudden now you knew what God wants you to do all everybody else might say what I do look appealing to me to be the happiest person alive. You know why because God desires in your heart, and he gave you your desire.

It all started when I became God you give me an individual that's not pliable or do they want to do now stilling I still love the Lord. What but only do what I want to do some I've seen people live in the biggest house have the nicest cars in the biggest bank accounts in their miserable and I see individuals that have absolutely nothing that this earth has to offer, but because they have the desires that God put in their heart and their following God there more content and happy that a person living in a mansion different listening to God's given you some promises that he will be pliable if you will delight herself in him if he'll just let him have control. He says he also met with Matt if you just you know hard it is the submit said if you'll submit all supply fuel submit to me. I'll supply the desires you end up having what you want and you will automatically not have what God wants and you both want the same thing because God could change you. It was so hard nowadays is for individuals to submit enough to God where he could put his desires in their life. You and I often times we don't want to get rid of our desires and what we want in our client. All the things that we think are of God says if you leave me, I'll give you the desires of your heart you submit he will supply the listener for Bobby.

Try to be brief as I can, but I'll never forget when I read design as assistant pastor here back in the years 2000 and admit of 94, 2000 and God begin to do me about going to evangelism and I had no desire to go to evangelism. I grew up in evangelism. Why would you want to do that, didn't understand a been there done that when that great. I don't want to do that I realize how great it was God begin the inside change in us. The Lord only knows not what I would like to do. I love it here. Love, whatever you just Lord, and he began to change.

Put desires in the heart also dislike you know this is what God wants to do and then it got to the point.

It was so strong that I felt like I would hurt this church. If I didn't leave because I knew God wanted me to do something different. If you don't like I told you I went up and resigned and I didn't have any revival meetings do not really an evangelist. If you don't have meetings.

You're just a guy who says you're an evangelist you have meetings to be evangelist and in ocelot on what to do and you know you have a salary here in English you know what you're going to make Lord will, and if the offerings come in.

You know what you're gonna make you know twice a month and you know if you have insurance you know you have insurance. Whatever the case might be, and when you walk out of there. You don't have the security job and I lived here and and and you know you're not can have a house in Aachen. It is shocking to that brother Joe obviously was just you know anything I needed but I was like you know I gotta do what God wants me to do it and I also need you have these things settled in this is you know what can happen and all of a sudden now your you're just thrown right into living by faith and you don't have meetings in God, and this is the dumbest thing ever done. I don't know what the world but I found this that if you will be pliable regarding whatever you want. You tell me to do it, even though my not make sense.

But if you want to marry me and then me and change me.

I will do it for God begin the desires of my heart and even make sense to me. Why would anybody want to leave a place like this to go out around annually know what you gonna make and how is this going to happen, but I know this and now I'm here thousand 13 I'm here to view submit supply is what he does want to notice. I mean I was sore I had committed to that hammock, but it wasn't able to hold the commitment now to think about why did I tell that story that makes her looking worse when you commit your way unto the Lord.

This verse says that means I basically everything that I have him disenrolled on God, I'm saying I believe that God can hold me. I believe that God can take care of me. I believe that God can make all this happen is what he's told me to do so I'm just going to commit my way yeah but you have family as they allow you to meet needs and how you pay bills and make sense to me and I know this, but you know what it is what God wants me to do. I'm just gonna lay down on this kind of him.

God says if you will do that if you commit if you just roll along the highway into the Lord knows what he says, trust also in him, he shall what bring it to pass. God says if you'll just 100% committed to me that all make things happen, and I'll take care and I'll take control and I will make them what is he say he saying you commit and I will control you commit that all control. By the way, dear friend. I have been around the block a few times now and I'm here to tell you everything in your life that you try to make happen is going end up in a mess.

It's not going to go the way you wanted is not going to go the way you plan and if it's all you're planning you're doing and you try to make things happen in your life and you make a mess. Look at me you look at me right now I'm telling you there's anything in your life that happens you want to make sure that God is the one that made it happen.

And God says this if you'll just commit your way your lay on me for everything that you have on me. Just trust me.

He says next and that verse just come in late on it. Trust me, and if you do that I will bring it to pass. Oh dear friend if you just feel just commit just roll on him. Let him have it, you commit.

He says I will control. Let me close with this if I can to look at verse seven. For sake of Thomas Carver seven says this rest in the Lord and wait patiently on him. That means this in verse three he says faith. Verse four.

He says submission verse five and 60 says obedience. What does that always bring verse seven it brings rest in peace and rest in the Lord and wait patiently on him to give these two things in all that you go you rest. He says and he will reassure you rest. He will reassure you wait he will do the work.

These are promises that God has made. If you will trust in the Lord and do good aphasia.

Be confident, be everything lock stock and barrel in God and he will take care of it. Make it happen. The desires of your heart.
