Happy happy Fourth of July it's a Fourth of July weekend and we're going to celebrate today with a special addition celebrating the birth of this nation and I have in the studio with me today. I'd rather think of myself as a stick of dynamite. Yeah, absolutely. The freedom that that the freedom that came from the birth of this nation right that the liberty and the freedom from really from tyranny. I guess you say a British rule and in what in that day, people thought which is tyranny in its day writing everything from from the Boston tea party in the distant just the whole vision of we want our independence we want to be able to make our own decisions and not be under some no government dominance right and just have that liberty that freedom right. That's what the Fourth of July and ended the Revolutionary war was really all about right.

Right. I know the patriot isn't completely historically accurate. The Revolutionary war and this is Hill in Springhill that that where they illustrate how the Brits came over the Brits are on one side of the hill and and the patriots came up the river and just in the battle that ensued on that heel and then my dad was actually with me one time in Nashville. We went over to Franklin over to this battle. This house we toured this house is one of the only times in history where there were four generals and she only time in history that were there were four generals stretched out laid out on the front porch that had died in battle for generals and and I just was blown away by the history of it all but anyway that's sad now.

I made the point of that that you noted that obviously these people they were they were doing something that was worth dying for. Yes, and I clearly think that God put that in our souls that we and our identity somehow you know want to to BNI because that's work time for an and you know it's interesting that that our history shows that we you know we stand on the shoulders of a lot of giants that that that were willing to do that so that we could have this writer. This this radio should be able to broadcast and broadcast around the nations and and as as the show goes out to the airwaves and course the Mets of the podcasting platform and Internet.

I do remember the incident your talk about Washington is a beautiful amazing movie and he and I me just how he got all the trips across the river in the freezing night and God made a way where there seem to be no way right and and he did it a couple three times for Washington while he actually and I'll probably finish the war force it's it's all a matter of obviously God's hand in the whole thing and people that firmly believe that that God wanted them in this fight right in it well and in many contribute to that that one particular battle is as waning. Really, the Revolutionary war, which would then lead to to the peace treaty etiquette 1783 and am but in Philadelphia write the city of brotherly love became the Liberty Bell army that became instrumental right in in in the foundation of of our nation and some cool stuff you my father grew up outside of Boston. He lived in Lexington, which not much to North Carolina but Lexington, Massachusetts, and so we would go up there and redo apart Revere's ride and think about what those guys were lying all you know the Minutemen and TI so I have that whole thing and then the shot heard round the world and and all those things are literally in every American's identity somehow you know that that God gave us that that these people would take on just unbelievable part of our DNA right in terms of our history that I did and that you got some phenomenal history there that that I did know by know my dad did see you know some some ancestral research. He got as far back is that the late 1600 LL yeah and just fascinated to look at that genealogy and the course you know that my roots go back to it to Scotland and England and Ireland and in all different parts. You know all it was interesting. One time I did the math and if you've ever done it but if you start to look at, you know, you had to grandparents it in.

I have four great-grandparents and see any need. If you go back generations is what you're gonna find you have more grandparents on the world than there were people in the world.

So what is it telling you that were all related.

There was no explicit ship. It was a very hand.

Yeah, you don't have to because you realize and you start doing the math going backward, you won't have to go far to realize a wave and I go to be related.

Everybody what we are.

That's why you're my brother. And even if you're Russian is some way shape or form. And then of course you know what it is like I reminded you I needed this to Ivan right of the audit was you really your uncle Bill asked me to sit.

Some think he was like my cousin and hate your cousin Ivan or whatever they liked was he really your uncle like he was in TV land bought were related by the blood of Jesus and that I yeah related by the blood you we became brothers in the Lord through the blood of Jesus.

And so why this is just interesting endlessly on just looking again looking at some of the history of of this great nation and even you know they were trauma course about the Revolutionary war, but there's no been been some things that happen even in between the Revolutionary war that led to the declaration of independence what it will Robbie what he appears to get what your thoughts and so is the Declaration of Independence right and and I grew up without it you not go without my my gallop and I was serious. A lot of people know the story they listen to the podcast or whatever, but but and and so I my mind. Though I had to grow up and that's tantamount to fee pull up my bootstraps.

Take care myself go out and learn to work ethic in sixth grade and in October, new ever since Landon this and ilio sports and wrestling and all of it right in and take care myself and be independent and then I give my life to Jesus and I and also to hear hey you need to be solely depend upon him are totally dependent on him like mom my brain is like a hot limit wave it will all these years.

I believe the need to be independent in balance.

They like for our nation were celebrating 4 July. How do we balance that the fact that we we gain this independence as a nation hot.

How does that translate into expresses a Christ follower having a dependency upon Christ as your master yeah well it's like you know that famous speech from William Wallace and now have Braveheart what you know. He says you know you are born free man. What will you do with that freedom right here.

We have freedom God gave us freedom your newborn in the United States are born in freedom. What will you do with that freedom. While we have the freedom to follow Christ and actually when you think about it this government or declaring independence from Britain but they were completely dependent on God. Washington was a perfect example of Adam and you can see him on his knees and how many paintings right that that's what M and what God allowed all that stuff in his life. So you have to be on his knees. He had no arrest record. She really didn't interrelate about it but he was smart enough to turn to the one that could make a difference and so the idea. It's interesting that when you study Isaiah 61 beautiful you know you know Jesus came to set the captives free right. But what he did was to declare liberty to the captives, to those who are held captive and you might remember famous feedback in those days.

Give me what liberty live media staff and and and there's a difference between liberty and freedom and and and and and that you know study in Hebrews. I won't go into allow that right this minute, but it but suffice it to say that for me.

I'm so grateful for the freedom however, what good would my love for Christ be if it wasn't free in other words, if he demanded that I love him. Then you know if I demanded that my wife love me and wouldn't go all real far, you know, like, just not the same thing as is alleged Philistines. I voluntarily loving you because they want to love is like. I know when I come home tonight my wife is can have this chocolate pudding with his with this stuff in it that she does for me because she loves me but if Mike said honey, I need to add that putting tonight and have the putting it would be near the same as I haven't said a word ends up that I just know that that that's out of her freedom. She's 11 well and and and so the foundation of our nation right is is been discussed many times you know that that the Bible was instrumental in an even even way I understand even forming near the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, you know, unalienable rights, that the pursuit of ill pursuit of happiness pursuit right and I just a quote from George Washington you know just did to your point, it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will to great to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly and to implore his protection in favor. While this is one of numerous quotes from George Washington and he read the hundred 19 Psalm sounds I can use read at least some of the Bible for sure to include some of this but but the with the freedom on the on the independence says celebration of our nation. This this weekend. The July 4 celebration in and you're listening to the show today and and certainly we want you know is good to be fireworks right there is going to be parties and all kinds of different it's a national holiday rye Mondays, a national holiday and people get the day off and many get a paid day off.

A paid workday and get the ticket they often but we got it we can. We have to remember one with the nation was really founded on to bring the ultimately religious freedom to not only give us the opportunity have a radio show but to voluntarily love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Right, Robbie. Now it's a beautiful picture that God really is, painted from generation to generation to generation to generation. He painted it very clearly in Egypt with you know the freedom that he brought right. The slaves and the just not but they were celebrating their independence. On the other side of the Red Sea, they they sang a song whatever but for them in a they were given this this this freedom.

But then, what would they do that freedom and and and and and a lot of times even find themselves right back in the bondage while you know is we get free from sin like it is a picture it's a picture that if you turn to Christ right and and I'm wasting a lot of people do it and you know were under the blood and we get that, but sometimes we turn right back to the things it took has been undocking my myself, write the things and took me in the bondage begin with right and so and I gotta turn back. It's interesting that you mention that back to be independent. On the one that originally set me free man, I'll find myself right back there in slavery again before you know hardly turn around and I really think you know that that's that's what the Declaration of Independence was was to make sure that they didn't end up as essentially slaves to the British government well and and you know more in limitlessness just be straight up truth for me were worried about as we celebrate this nation, however, 200 something years that it is at this point in time we were really in a battle. The salon calling on all Christ followers out there brothers and sisters in the Lord that if you've you ever intensified your prayer life ever got more serious about your prayers that that now is the time really to do it and yes you want to celebrate this weekend and celebrate that the freedom we have, but we also don't want to lose our freedom. We want to maintain our freedom and asked where we need to really be pressing in and praying for our nation praying for our leadership and just standing united so that we can continue to enjoy the freedoms that we've had the past couple hundred plus years and honor as you said earlier, all those who fought for our freedom. Whether was the Revolutionary war, the Civil War, or any other wars in between, or rumors of wars, I think of all the frenzied RMM of that generation. I know you are to some extent a little older, near, but not much of of all the guys in Vietnam and then operation Iraqi freedom. Almost all those things that we've lived in these men that literally gave up their lifestage and organ and all the stuff is going on. It really is an honor, it really really is. It's amazing and I thought, I think we it's if there's a time to man up like when you know that what's right is right at an end, to be asking God just like George Washington did on our knees. What's my response to this new set of circumstances and what were these men did who fought so bravely for our country well and and I think the theme of today's show is is freedom. And if you had picked up on that were worthy of special judge Fourth of July show and in talking about freedom. Freedom.

Freedom and I just reminded Robbie and reminded just recently did have these these questions just dropped and in my spirit and add as your celebrating your freedom this this weekend and and Robbie said what was the quote from from Braveheart. What was the quote what we do with that freedom. What will you do with that freedom it hears a few more questions for you to ponder in celebration of this freedom. We we enjoy in America who are you and what is your value what is your purpose here in life. What is your legacy/destiny. When you're done here.
