This is family policy matter programs produced by the North Carolina family policy Council of profamily research and education organization dedicated to strengthening and preserving the family and up from the studio here is John Rustin, Pres. North Carolina family policy Council, thank you for joining us for family policy matters. It is our pleasure to have Alana Newman with us on the program this week. Alana is a donor conceived woman and former egg donor who now passionately advocates against all forms of third-party reproduction. She is the founder of the anonymous project in Oman story collective for third-party reproduction. Alana is also the director of the coalition against reproductive trafficking, which is a new initiative and were excited to talk with Alana today about that Alana will conduct a family policy matters and care. While it's great to have your own Alana. As we begin, particularly for our listeners who may not be aware of it tell us about the coalition against reproductive trafficking and why you started this initiative a verse here, the unquestioned mouse cannot third-party reproduction and market pricing children on the marketplace for children and nobody's questioning and companies have a lot of marketing money. Nobody's talking about the consequent I was talking about the ugly side of a nobody's document around my car is an education will that's right. It will certainly be getting into the more the details about this. Now some of our listeners may or may not be familiar with all that is involved with third-party reproduction if you will define this for us and help us understand the scope that third-party reproduction includes trade and trade fair trade now anytime I carried a person, other than a couple on outside party, Dan, for that purpose of reproduction and are not a romantic partner could be from becoming well it seems to be our current culture, just expanding and expanding and expanding and expanding into areas that maybe 10 or 15 years ago we would not have necessarily considered no Alana, you have a powerful testimony as a woman who was conceived through third-party reproduction. If you would share with us about your personal experience as a donor conceived individual how that shaped your life and how it led you to speak publicly in opposition to donor conception and other forms of third-party reproduction. My personal dockets and my other sister was adopted and they wanted second child and decided he is not a nice spend on. I always knew my mom told me when I had like 45.

It was hard on their marriage on my never strong connection kill her first husband when they divorced. I never saw him again at eight. Mom remarried on a my little brother naturally with her second husband. I grew up very good perspective on the important biology plays in the connection contact with their children growing up, and then he got a young one and I experienced all the typical call consequences of fatherlessness. I never connected the dots.

I never any protection from my social father never got there attention or a lot of anything major sacrifices commands. My mom was responsible for me. She she worked to provide for me and all the typical things that promiscuity in trying to reach what you communicate a man's blog and I experience on base and I really connected the dots on now so I thought that the only real problem with third-party reproduction with anonymity. 21 I sold my open IG Donna.

It was extremely painful. I was treated like the products I realized that I thought that was going to be entering into a relationship with the woman who bought my eggs in a child. There is no relationship at all on very much regret that experience. There is no long-term studies on the drugs that I had to take when strokes women have lost their own fertility someone had died some of the nucleotide of hyperstimulation syndrome and a lot of really serious health risk trafficking donation IBS at the Caliper. Medical entrepreneurs in the fraternity and shakes and silenced very angry at doubts as a lots of relationship with my father very angry about this social consequences that had on the educational failure considered. Now I am 29 years old and I got married and I have two kids naturally and I realize how vital fathers are all vital mothers on four children and I'm appalled that I'm fatherlessness is being promoted and profited off of and I'm appalled that mindlessness is now being promoted ending profited well.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal story. Again, this is so powerful now on your website you list what is referred to as the big five reasons to oppose third-party reproduction.

You touched on some of these, but let's talk a little bit more about each one up we can. The first of these is human trafficking explained for our listeners. If you would the connection between third-party reproduction and human trafficking. While one pregnancy can generate up to $300,000 to settle an harvesting nation as target states up to $300,000 for one of his pregnancies and the human trafficking. The popular figure not buying and selling children, but in fact your pre-selling and pre-ordering a child and not just because you signed a contract to exchange the money before conception that you look at the contract fell 50 late at said transfer apparent.

That's why call human trafficking.

Also when they're being used is baby machines like a lot of developing countries. You have basically factories of women. He is breaking machines inheritor almost any Sprint engine. However, there there watched over next to eating just writing on for their sake fair for quality control separated from the family mistreated. If they're not producing times at the explication I wanted. Well I think that's open the trip extremely important for folks understand we there's been a lot of attention given to human trafficking over the last several years. Unfortunately so but this is an area of the that is really hidden because of the nature of this industry know another reason that you say that we should oppose third-party reproduction is its link to abortion explained that force he would when human beings like myself become product with price tags abortion in years added quality control measures that you can't return a human being like to get back to the store but they're using abortion in that way. So it is gestating realized that it's not healthy and were exactly the product that they wanted you to abortion today to get rid of it and start over like Connecticut there that a woman that parents offered her $10,000 to abort the baby because they had heart problems is very common. Well we have done research a memo think an article to wait for us for our magazine family North Carolina there was a good bit of discussion about the whole notion of creating these designer babies and so also and unfortunately people think that the arguments once the drawing together the create that human life at its most early-stage that that is a byproduct of good can just be thrown away is not meeting the criteria that those individuals that are attempting to create it wanted to do it so important that we recognize his human life at its earliest stage of every human life is worthy of protection, so, so grateful for your willingness to speak out on this note will know that you've also expressed concerns with third-party reproduction is used today as a form of eugenics on the weave sure the talking about the explained level but for the four listeners to write that particular think about trying to design and manufacture perfection straighter not interested in curing people, people, fertility. They are in the babymaking business and they feel that they feel the pressure to bed manufacture better products in the trying to sell a better product and it gets what you as you harvest a lot of eggs fertilized a lot of eggs and you create a lot of embryos and then let that doctors have the capacity to do routinely do is to go when you compete with those in the art there. The first and human rights. You can eat at the place right here, I kind of common crimes had you can just implant the one you would prefer and throw away the one you're not interested in raising, that's typical for a lot of what are some of the policy changes that you would like to see you related to third-party reproduction is your ultimate goal to completely outlaw all forms of third-party reproduction or other forms that you consider to be acceptable within our current culture easy things we can go after our and into anonymity and what ending anonymity that it forces people to recognize the humanity of the person they're reproducing with, which is an important point. I think payments though if you quit paying eight dollars $10,000 and $50,000 to undergo that painful invasive procedure they will end and they say 80% of sperm donors are not motivated by money and payment. I think you can stop the tide quite significantly. Yes I would like to see them into the marketplace and children absolutely bed multibillion-dollar industry and despite what we seen with mankind had videos with with with abortion when incentivized the bad we've allowed people to make our cars are prevented from sending record production with allowed industry very lucrative industry and it's just a huge beast will clearly this is a complex issue and so would like for dinner for you taking the time to unpack his forces growing into, especially with the onset of the legalization of same-sex unions are culture or nation because we know that those individuals who were in same-sex relationships are not able to better we can see children themselves and so they have to seek outside parties to be involved in the process of their seeking to have children through adoption or through third-party reproductive means. So I think it is a growing concern of something that policymakers should not only within the statement across the nation need to give some serious consideration to so a lot is we close any closing culture, what I can find the website reproductive trafficking.org absolutely pleased you already have the love doing to make sure listeners know where they can go to learn more about the coalition against reproductive trafficking yeah had art all the dignified explanation that a lot of accessible information gray woman with that website. Reproductive trafficking.org again reproductive trafficking.org.

I would just encourage your listeners to go visit the website to read more about all the work that a lot is doing a lot of Newman.
