I want you to turn in your Bibles to first Samuel chapter 12 first Samuel chapter 12. I had intended to read this entire passage to you for the sake of time, I'm not going to do that. I was gonna read to you. Verse one through verse 25 I want you to understand something about Samuel in this passage we are given a picture where showing Samuel at the age of 90, the age of 100.

This was this man, having lived a full life in the twilight of his life. Looking back on his life in the eyes and through the eyes of a holy and a righteous God.

This is God speaking to you and me, and I want you to hear the word of the Lord. First Samuel chapter 12 in verse one Samuel said to all of Israel, behold, I have obeyed your voice in all that you said to me, and I've made a king over you and now behold the king walks before you and I am old and gray and behold look at my sons and my daughters they are with you.

I have walked before you from my youth until this very day. Do not be afraid, for even though you have done this evil. I want you to know said Samuel. Do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all of your heart.

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should send against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you and I will instruct you in the good in the right way only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart, consider what great things he has done for you.

I do thank the Lord for my parents-in-law because throughout their lives. They've lived lives that are pleasing to the load.

I want that for myself. I want that for you out people, you understand that I want that for our young people.

I want them not to only see that in us, but I want they themselves to take hold of those same truths that come from God. I want us to be a people who invest in tomorrow because we believe these things congregation people we going to be coming to you regarding our skew to step up for tomorrow. God is asking us.

Samuel's life was marked by many things, not born. It was marked by listening. It was a spiritual ability to listen.

He said it right there in verse one, he said, behold, I have listened to your voice. Behold, I'm paying attention. And in this context, we know that what Samuel was saying to them was that not everything that they were saying to him was what God needed for them, but that he understood that as a man of God. Then he took that information and he placed it back in their hearts because he was a spiritual listener. One just has to turn on the television sick today. These infernal discussions that go on on television every time something happens in our nation and the so-called experts gathering they sit around the table and the court of public opinion begins to speak and everybody say is a nobody listens, but those of us who know Christ because of the spirit of the living God who dwells in us. We have I spiritual filter by the Holy Spirit which enables us to be able to observe and evaluate and listen and do in light of who God is, if you want to be a man or a lady who pleases God.

Do what Samuel did listen spiritually in an attitude of obedience not man, but to God.

You want to process there's a process. Observe the people that speak to you evaluate them in terms of where they stand in the light of who God is. Listen to what they have to say and then act according to the word of God based upon what you hear.

Samuel's life was marked by listening.

Because of sin in my life. 50 years ago and he said you showed me in the word of God that God forgives and any costs are sin as far as the east is from the wind and he remembers and I'm I believe that because God sees it but I need to parse that on because I am believing. I know this to be true.
