This is Jim Graham from the masculine jury podcast where we explore relationship instead a religion every week your chosen Truth Network podcast is starting in just a few seconds. Enjoy it. Sure, but most of all, thank you for listening you for choosing The Truth Podcast Network.

This is the Truth Network. One of my favorite Sundays, the whole year is the sun. It kicks off holy week and that is well known to us as Palm Sunday is the beginning of Passover week is the beginning of lamb selection time in Jerusalem rewind 2000 years. This is when the king entered the city, Jesus Christ.

We are there, part two we started out last week. This beautiful picture of Christ and into disciples to grab a donkey, a cold and never been written to fulfill privacy and is coming in peace because a king comes in on a donkey and peace in his writing that donkey as opposed writing a steel horse in war and all kinds Golding Savin Robidoux Worsley Robbie read the passage again and let's get any final questions and try to get one through this agreement, as the clothes what the people said as they cheered the cooking coming in and all the stuff that happened there. Luke 1920 through 40 when he had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem and it came to pass, when he drew new near to Bethpage in the Bethany at the mount called all of it that he sent two of his disciples, saying, go into the village opposite you went where as you enter you will find a colt tied on which no one is ever sat loose it and bring it here and if anyone asked you are you losing it that she's shall say to them, because the Lord has need of it. So those who were sent went on their way and found it just as Jesus and said to them, as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, why are you losing the call and they said the Lord is need of them. Then they brought him to Jesus and they threw their own clothes on the colt and then they set Jesus on it and as he went. Many spread their clothes on the road. Then as he was now drawing near, the dissent of the Mount of olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord peace in heaven and glory in the highest and some of the Pharisees called them from a crowd teacher, rebuke your disciples, but he answered and said to them, I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out. What a statement. Any to talk Robbie at last time about this powerful statement with you. Jesus says these guys in blind there to find some coal tied their elusive goal bring in Christ is an unwritten colt it's never been been used before nerve and broken still got new cult smell if FFF will affect okay guys at 1100 here with the lifting some significant snow is what Jesus said to them, because you know anticipating someone stopping them along the way. He says tell them the Lord has need of it. The Lord has need. This is a great statement of life. We spent some time at last time, while and sure enough, that's what happened. Disciples answered as Christ instructed them. The Lord has need of this animal and this is for the service of the king, and so then it all happened just as he said Christ words are impeccable. The word of God is pure, the word of God is true and he always delivers. This is a real fascinating thing here Robbie in verse I believe it's 35, where it says then they brought him to Jesus as a colt and through their own clothes in the cold and they set Jesus on him. There's a lot of significance.

Just like the animal is significant to them more than us. We things is an animal can be disregarded, go to: donkey. Whatever we don't think is high but that's for them. It's like a car is like a vehicle as a beast of burden that's transportation.

It's a lot of things he hides huge and agrarian culture right, the same way, their clothing was really important about Osama being clothed with righteousness about the importance of clothing.

Don't worry, Jesus says in Matthew six about your clothing what you can wear songs over the clothing is everything. It reflects character clothing does, or lack thereof. A lot of times, and so for the disciples to take your clothing. This was probably there to correct their their prayer shawls that you carried that would've been on the outside that would've had the tassels, which really point to the righteous one so they're putting down prayers literally on both the colt when they put down there these partials that there literally putting down prayers in their own way that this is what they been waiting for the Messiah.

This is huge.

This is, you know, like all my goodness, yes. So disciples do their close and then all these people you know it says as he went. Many spread their clothes on the road so they are very symbolic, richly symbolic of you. What you note, we are you we are at your service. We are at your behest.

You are the king you are the sovereign you're the ruler of all the earth, not just the miracle working carpenter son from Nazareth, but you are the King of Kings, a son of David and of the very son of God, recognizing that is deity, authority, but the recognizing their subservience to him there saying we are your servants and you are God. We are not we are welcoming you into the city of peace where you will reign forever and ever.

To read this last question here is significant about the words of praise from the cycle.

Psalm 118 now so this is really interesting so they said the disciples say is drawing near, the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice it says the whole multitude disciples.

This given hundreds, maybe thousands disciples line the streets lined this this this ascent of Christ or descent and they praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen what had they seen will just go back and Luke 19 and back MORE miracles recorded in Luke than any other gospel. They had seen people healed people raised linemen given site. The deaf or hearing all these things, the lepers, the 91 came back of the town and said thank you but they sell these lepers healed. No one did that.

No one touched unclean people.

They saw the poor have the gospel preached to them they saw them.

The worst of all scalawag sinners. The tax collectors. All the sudden serving God did transformed early on.

Luke there is Matthew the Levite, then you know that the tax collector. Then later on, there was Zakia's and others so there praising God with a loud voice, and there saying verse 38 what a great statement. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest verse 38, so the blessed, blessed is the first word of the book of Psalms the word as do with literally means happy, but it's a deeper happiness. It's a it is a is a state of blessedness is a stating of Christ gives that the sermon on the mount earlier in Luke six.

Blessed are the poor in spirit.

Blessed are the merciful. Blessed are those that Morton will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, all these been a blessed are you if you're persecuted, how does that make sense so they're making this their turning around there saying a blessed statement upon Jesus. Blessed is the king knowing the king with the king who comes in the name of the Lord peace and having organized now. This is a literal quote from Psalm 118. This is the day that the Lord is my last rejoice I will rejoice and be glad in it right in the middle of the Bible.

This is the day and so will we quote that verse recorded try to quote every day was one of the first verse I memorized in my kitchen on Will Scarlet Road was in working on a mama taught me that verse I said it one day at either me or my sister said it. We were like under two and she was shock as he could barely talk. We quoted that verse perfectly out of the mouth of babes right to what possibly else could be in some well there's a lot in there okay ever the cornerstone of the court was this number ticket that's in Psalm 118 C so all of that is in there into the Jew, the mind was full of this scripture and so you and I say this is the day the Lord is a we quoted every day is God's. Every God is the God of every day. However, to the Jew who sees the king coming who for hundreds of years is interested in praying every day, day and night night date Lord deliver us, Lord. Here's how you say in your word and delivers your interest in the seed of the woman across the head of the serpent the serpent crushes coming the king, the offspring of David, of the tribe of of Jesse right of the tribe of Judah Uranus in this one he's prophesied about all throughout Isaiah Jeremiah and Ezekiel, the Old Testament and in Psalms and Samantha have a whole so so so when they see Jesus coming Robbie, let me say what they said they were. They said they said this is the day because there is the king and he's coming in the name of the Lord blessed is he so can you see the power that verse that we quote very regularly. We all know by heart with a song. This is the day to stop seeing his listenership will go down quick that the Lord has made. Right. I will rejoicing it with everyone I will rejoice and be glad in it is you on and on. We see and be glad yes yeah so this is good to know that that all of a sudden becomes real right graphic that Psalm was fulfilled. Blessed is he who comes in the name Ward so there's up there's a brilliant supernatural thing happening as Christ is coming in on that cold they lather close down and it says the whole multitude began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works. It seems same. Blessed is the king who comes in the name Lord. Look at this statement. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest and whenever Jesus Christ shows up limited what the Prince of peace comes peace and glory in the highest, which is exactly what the angel said there is. Interlude 214 glory to God, the highest and on earth peace, goodwill to all men, so there's God's glory. There's God's peace. There's a meaning there's a significance because the king is come because peace is not about a place a position is not about a plan.

It's about a person, the Lord Jesus Christ you connect with him.

Everything changes and everything was about to change in Jerusalem, but it's gonna get darker and get worse before it's better. Verse 39 some of the Pharisees called to him from the crowd saying teacher, rebuke your disciples selected that that is the question right here of Robbie.

Those two questions really go to the heart. There's there's not. So why was this so upsetting to the Pharisees and how would this triumphal entry contrast with the crowd at Good Friday. Yeah. So only make a statement as can be controversial. We may have to go in in the next week with this and that is this the crap you know it's easy for pastors to get up at Easter time and say the same mob on Palm Sunday to said blessed you comes a Lord is the same mob that cried for crucifixion, and I want to say that's not necessarily true. I was it's easy for me to say that in fact I may have said that my book last words of Jesus, and you look at it but it's not Nestlé true because these were disciples. Those were healed or redeemed by him. They were crying these words out. Sure, there were people that were swayed sure they were innocent passerby's that would turn on Jesus. Sure a lot of religious people on Good Friday would cry for his blood, yes they would cry, crucify him, but they weren't all necessarily the same. Robbie now I've got to get emails and letters from this, but if you study it. I think you'll find that's true yeah there's crossover there are similar people and there are some of the same, but to stay there all the same is not true.

One reason is you and I both know were the disciples on Good Friday, they were long gone as they were running as he knew there was a cross ready for them. You know, including that the that the most vociferous and bold leader Peter. Only John the beloved disciples (of the cross with women who stood afar off will find out from Luke later on so the contrasting thing with the Pharisees are so mad they are so upset and they said to him, teacher, usually up till now they go to this I was a ~teacher he should have dinner with these sinful people how to live teacher. We don't need to go in text editors fatalities are not to do this woman is in the middle of this are our time. This time he went directly to Jesus and they called him from the crowd and they said teacher, rebuke your disciples but he answered and said to them, I tell you of these should not keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out while we're leaving on that list. Pick it up next week on experience truth, I'm Stu Epperson. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly this is the Truth Network
