This is the Truth Network of every man his life as it usually feel that way. Jesus speaks of narrow gates and livelihoods of the masculine journey is filled with many twists and turns. So how do we keep from losing heart while trying to find a way life feels more like a losing something worth dying for, grab your gear, request band of brothers will serve as the guys recall masculine journey masculine journey starts here now walk. Glad to have you with us today, and today we is is an older reference reason it fits right in with Harold. He was there for the original course, but yeah but you still playing is a commercial return. I may take still another still playing off that whole whole adds their brand yeah yeah Maytag today. Not the washer, not the method drier, but actually the repairman to what we go ahead and talk a little bit about that first couple of templates we can have some context and then will come back and talk about what were gonna apply that. So the Maytag repairman has a dog that you may not be aware that it's actually a bass account and and he actually needs the Maytag repairman which is making reference to his beautiful basset hound and someone you know he talks about that he's talking about that somebody actually meets him because he isn't feeling needed and requested his loneliest guy in town. And the reason that were doing all that Sam is well reason for it is as we were talking about a week ago about the topic for this upcoming week this summer. Out of nowhere and I think God helps me find out why it's not really out of nowhere.

It's it's from him that you know we we, meaning me anyway and I think some of us in the room if we want to admit it, treat God, and probably more like the Maytag repairman like to admit. And we were in economist things really really get desperate and in the meantime we just cannot plan on doing our own thing like nothing's ever to break down right now there is one difference between Maytag meets me why when the loneliest guys in town.

Remember that from early in my childhood. Not not Harold but that wasn't really early in your childhood with that particular commercial came out earlier in the 60s or warriors in that I remember it, but no I wasn't a child, yet I think one of things we talked about before the I radio shows were talking about the show, you made a great point of what were not saying would you like to share that with well to make the difference between God and the Maytag repairman is that while the Maytag repairman is sitting there idly scratching Newton God's busy. He's got billions of people to do stuff for 24 seven 365 so he's never idle. He's always working and it's exactly right, but I think in least in my mind anyway. There are times that I tended to say okay that's kinda more like the elf on the shelf. You know you nine when I put them up there now go get them if I need something that I believe now for the shelf and where that came from but Sandra really good you got yourself a little bit and maybe that's next week. The elf on the shelf will say that for Christmas.

I find it there's something in me, and maybe multiple things that make me tend to do that as we talked about before the show.

We've all battled out at one point or another data letter will battle it more than likely that's can offer stories at some point right II heard something from Focus on the Family years ago that they had done a piece about a man that had lost his wife to death and it said that he began to talk to God on like telephone line and that he would call them up occasionally when he felt lonely but it's time progressed, another phone calls got more and more frequent and then at some point he realized he'd never hang signs on the phone with him. I heard that it was very convicting for me years ago. The opposite of data, however, is often what I look like yeah I it's I want to be the place where we never hang out, but it seems like now, old man now at 3 o'clock the afternoon and I am dolled them up since 830 this morning that's that's the challenge. But Bruce and I came across this problem absolutely will get a clip on think we've actually ever used before.

From Bruce Almighty and it's kind of surprising because I thought we'd used all the clips is another boom where we find ourselves as we pick up this clip Bruce had gotten God's powers data given him his powers and said okay you think you can do better to do better and so of course he goes out he does all the wrong things and at some point all these prayer requests are coming in and he just decides I can't deal with that. I'm granting them all. Everybody, yes, yes, all the prayers and then everything breaks loose in others.

Chaos everywhere. This is the town of Buffalo so there's chaos all over Buffalo and it's like the world coming to an end and everyone's lottery may all get like $1.33 yet he goes the only place he knows that he can go. He's tried everything within his control. He tried everything he can think of to do and he goes back to God and we pick that up at some point you hear them doing something that actually guides in the middle of kinda cleaning up heaven is kinda mopping heaven literally mopping and Bruce joins himself will pick up where Bruce walks and is looking for God. God's well hello there Bruce Almighty not as easy as it is God they're all out of control me. My right on time, wonderful thing, no matter how filthy something gets always cleaned it right there so many of us came over.

They wanted.

Does anyone have a clue about what they want. You know it's it's so funny about that movie when I first watched it years and years ago I thought it was smack in Christianity in the first time I watched and the more the gods can open my eyes to these pieces of it were the sissies trues even this little clip I hear so many different things are true about God and one of the things that he says, and there is no it's right on time and on the matter when we go to God.

It's right on time.

Yet we can show it to them before God knows where, he knows when were common and when we finally said okay can't do it anymore then were going to come to. He's like a calf, and Wayton, I'm here for you now what about that clip will talk about little bit about did you guys go from actually else can I something my wife said okay as I was listening to clips together today and she said how could he have done that movie and not get it responding years speaking reactor that had the opposite reaction. It was a Christian that uptight Christian you hate this gods all through the and he often is in any story we hear you hear God if were looking up now is kinda interesting to me the gods, had me on this lesson plan of abiding all year long and so this is right in my wheelhouse, so to speak, of where you know Robby, how much we cannot abide but there is a critical question that that gets answered. There, that's not exactly sure where it goes and it leaves me right where I often am like I don't have a clue, but he says how often do people really know what they want. Well, last Sunday I was teaching my special-needs class and and we were talking about prayer very specifically and I met a couple students and I was like man don't you guys really want something, you know what if God was here right this minute is standing right in front of you, what would you ask for and most of these are verbal students that we have their say and I'm I don't need anything I'm good. God is standing right in front of you and he's like, what would you want and and they really had nothing and I thought, man.

Their water is broken. I mean they don't have their want is is is not so. I even went a little deeper and I said okay will if your dad was here and he said what you want for lunch the day you know all the sudden buddy.

They had answers that you know all all all sorts of things possible. You know, interestingly, God is is all that up for you. Now I'm teaching that supposedly right. So this morning in prayer. God turns it on me and says Seurat beat what you want. It took me a while. My water was broken gets email it here there in prayer. So what is it and what is it and why you here Robby and he said eventually I said I want to see your face and have led to an adventure I but I doubt if we have time for it, but it did lead to God exposing in you what that deployment was right. Evidently the rest clip he actually does that in the movie to you those with pretty good EE doesn't version carries character known as listener that I heard them say you well, Bruce Almighty, and thinking how may times to say hey Sam Almighty and arriving at human remains. He often because I have library with thought about that is hilarious. So here we are again you thought you could just do it all like it would be exactly like that. But honestly, it was all about, you know, control, or fear. Whatever was that they caused me to stick you back on the back burner and say okay I got this I can handle this. I don't have to feel like I need to go to you, whatever that driving factors and we talked a little bit before the show. The preacher was it's all been different at different times we end up with finding God kinda back there and Jimmy said for you. Sometimes it's what sometimes it's I don't want to bother. That's a pretty big one, but I think you more about it. My biggest one is I don't want to get that motion.

Whatever it is, encounter God is waiting for us to come to right is waiting on his friend to come to him and say no I love you only spend time with you and help you. So we way to come to the upcoming book you spend time with him, spend time with us can imagine journey radio.org to register now Robby Gilmore here in the truth network podcasts of help my pillow the company it is today, and now Mike Lindell, who by the way, I've met is a great guy, the inventor and CEO of my pillow wants to get back to our listeners for the first time you can get deep discounts on all my pillow products. I was hiding behind God. Because that part of it. I feel like God is there. Most the time to see you as we know, my friend. We know, my friend Robby to crawl up in my lap and waiting only for in June so you know what you not bothering me reciting a zero waiting on Mick Jagger is waiting on you know, I think. I'm sure you have sure is as well. Keith Richard, that's a joke anyway. So that part of that song is always grabbed me and the rest of it and really care much about that. I do like that part you know that to me. It reminds me that God is sitting there waiting for me in on that gives me comfort not to use active in my life to point Harold it's not these nonactive but easily I mean to say you know I'm here. That's interesting because it's the opposite end of what we were talking my last week which is in our we get to be still and wait.

And I know I've never considered that. Oh my goodness he's waiting know how you want to follow-up incidents of Jim Assange Jones will start and I didn't want to bother God and most of the time. My issue is will this is not big enough for God and my sweetheart constantly reminds me that nothing is too small to pray about and it's like sweetheart, I can't find my phone will have you prayed about it though. In the you know she loses something Lucille Brian, all of a sudden you hear it is and so stupid. May I keep Bowman along, but I think she's correct. Nothing is too small the type to go and nothing is to be without the handle. There's times that I struggle with the concept of at this point my life I shouldn't have to go to God as if I should know better writing. II should've Artie learned that lesson why my back here again and in all these things that the enemy knows works for us and he tries to take us there tries to get us into that place where we say okay I'm gonna head off in this direction can on my own for one reason or another whether it's intentional or not intentional. He gets is going this clip we've got here from we were soldiers.

It's really really helpful for me. We've used it before, and when we used it before it actually chewed me into something that I had not really considered what you know we talked about how to do it wrong in this case. In my opinion, the Col. does it right. In other words, the man comes to them with all this stuff about what God thinks and listen to how quickly the Col. says well let's just go ask him out. You don't know is it you know the young enlisted man here is just had a baby there, sitting in a chapel and so when he says let's go pray he's grabbing him and taking him up to the altar to pray so I like I said I watch that I saw it and for me doing the Jesus labor.

Love it. These ladies I'm getting them on the phone and three, and they almost always overwhelming with all the stuff that they are essentially coming to the Jesus labor love to share with us that they needed now I'm overwhelmed because we don't have the resources to meet all that.

And God taught me the go Col. whatever his name and on and on decide our list taken to God, like right now and that ends up being way more impactful from their own stories of the ladies that week that I prayed with many times. Then the actual resources that may be there to help them to realize that the real resources while let's take that to God. Just like the Col. that's right, a lieutenant should begin. So I know it's fine. It's all right. Please ask your question, we think about being a soldier and father. I hope being that in the one makes me better. The other way that you between college and Barb and I spent a year in Africa. We helped build a school for orphans. There were orphans because the warlord across the border didn't like the I know God has a plan for me. I just hope is to help protect orphans not make father in heaven for going to battle every soldier among us will approach you. Each is only our enemies to according to their own understanding will ask for protection and for victory. So we bow for your infinite wisdom. We offer our prayers as best we can. I pray you watch over the young men like Jack Kagan that I laid in the battle you use me as your instrument in this awful help Ward to watch over especially their men like this one. Beside me deserving of the future and your blessing and goodwill yes and more finger Lord about our enemies ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow the carpet out and leave it in for contact so ready for that. What what is it about that. That makes that the difference maker right unit is not putting God back and I'll call you if I need to write you soon okay I need you to step in here and need guidance or we need your I don't know what to say I to me it's like if we were to have a relationship with God, then why in the world are we entering into a written prayer more frequently and collectively because it's it's one thing obviously to pray in my quiet time in the morning but it's another thing completely for me to put my arm around my brother, my sister, whoever, and say while let's go talk I mean you know it's like we talk about that you know that's a in my experience with that has been, and you've done that for me numerous times that I've called you with no Vioxx pitch, however, that worked out. And you know they say no, Sam was libelous. Pray let's go, let's go. Let's do it right now and that's really act out a call to it. That is interesting because if you're the Maytag repairman. It's like get into Maytag the same time you get in line. You get the whole you know or maybe get all Covey if you get a group coming to the for me. I can see progress, you know, I'm just not where one of the year need to be in my walk with God and relationally gather certain situations that come up with my kids that I know that I got this give that to God is as a dad.

I may not be in a position to do anything or make an influence right now.

We got always has ability to make an influence. Catalase is in position in on so some of those I find I'm really pretty good at the ones where I realize now I'm kinda at the end of my rope here is not much more I can do in on that's happened in different times.

My kids in the live voice. Since market small problems big kids big problems. I think there's a lot of truth that you know and as you know my kids get older I don't know what it means to be the father of a 32-year-old daughter were 21-year-old son and never been there before and they're facing things I never faced and so I find myself doing very good on that front, and I find myself at times at work doing well at sharing the story. If you guys back in 2006, when the company was with had about 60 some nonemployees in my department we had reduced, and I think it was 20 some is because the housing economy dropped by and I found that I needed. The only way to get through those meetings was to go to heaven prayer before to get I need you here. I need I need your words and need your wisdom. I need to know what to say what not to say it, and what I was thinking of when you guys are talking or sometimes even in those meetings. He I had probably to pray and I disastrously pray enforcers with company as a Christian company. I knew that was not a big risk, and surprisingly, the majority of the people said now please, let's pray. It was a prayer that was a difference maker in that meeting because the outcome wasn't any different. There were still getting laid off.

I was still the jerk doing it to you know that the end of the day, God was the difference maker that stepped in and so I do really well at those things but then there's all these things when it's just me. You know when it's my decision or it's this and I feel like I I'm at the other end of the spectrum, way too often.

So I need to learn to do it like you said. Rather, the analogy of gray to pick up the phone and making the call when whenever he's working and I but man I need to be making that call and stay counseling on the phone and nothing just something that you're right about that clip from Bruce Almighty.

I keep thinking that different aspects of it, but when he sang On he's talking about the way he originally connected with God that you know the first time was in a God even told in class on I, like that and so you know him. His expectation was God's gonna respond to the way that that happened before and I don't know if you're like me, but he never answers for his wheelhouse to do it the way I read it that they work so well the last time but this time you know and I wonder if that isn't you know just part of the of the of the pursuing.like for you to share something really quick if you would, you know that I know we don't have a lot of time left in the show but this is all symptoms of something quite big or very near the first first appointed out. I think anymore the team of you know really what we're dealing with here is what orphan spirit.

Okay, so explain what you mean by that. So some semi-heard my story. My dad were close, but he had to move out of the state. When I was 13 teatime and at your son's life really needed them there and so consciously. Subconsciously I don't know I just count is like it's all up to me you know my got a make life work. He's not there and you as I got close to God. Later in life you not praying step, but there was still that feeling of it was still up to me. There was still well if it's a five parade don't see a solution. The next day, then it's time for me to take over. I've got a God and made God the ultimate Maytag repair man so that orphan spirit I think is a lot. What a lot of us deal with it puts us in that position. God, I think a lot of the stuff we've been talking about over the last couple weeks is topic each one on their own. Has merit dealing with this orphan spirit is really like to challenge each of the sweetest rates I got you help me see the ways on living like an orphan, open my eyes to repent from that and walk work closely with you to mask injury radio.org to register for the upcoming boot camp November 7-10 and I promise you got some amazing stuff.
