So how do we keep from losing heart while trying to find a way life feels more like a losing battle than something worth dying for, grab your gear, request band of brothers will serve as the guides we call masculine journey masculine journey starts here now and here and now is the last Saturday in September, which makes is not an Evergreen podcast anymore, but it's the last Saturday of September, 20, 21, we have a boot camp in the bike now that we got October, and then some. But it's there. November 18 through the 21st and so you know what those dates and a lot of new people that we want to come like this guy beside me. I haven't seen him in months. Would you like to come to the boot camp. I think I made one why so long, but will they let me have a microphone like calling there you go. We got another one called in with Wayne and and so it's good to have Jim back. It really is with Mr. beans's been gone, and then interestingly, Sam bail Bonds is waiting for same as my topic so the topics a little bit different and and Andy and that you can't don't just jump all over me as soon as you hear it because it's not exactly right but you can't say it exactly right in thinking we've gone from you know what makes God. Listen to this week. Okay are I just last week we talked about what makes excellent which makes us listen. What gets our attention gets our attention.

So today today's topic is no what makes godless not that God doesn't listen all types of then jump on me, but the idea is that I'm sure will.

I know that for me personally have experienced many times were felt like my prayers were hitting the ceiling and and I didn't feel like I really was in the relationship that I knew that I had been in previously or that I'd hope to be in on the situation and so I think the electric chair and what what makes God that what was left just lost what makes us listen to since Taylor gets God's attention. Blood not sure that's not worse than what else some plugs on the what is right. Along those lines were gonna do a little transitioning here and the unit last week's topic of this week's SOS last week, I submitted the clip from the burning bush room. The 10 Commandments and the idea was, you know, it's a dialogue between Moses and God and you know it's Moses listen, you know, to God, but there was also God speaking about how he had heard the cries of the children of Israel in the place that they were in, and so you know, it just seemed to fit better for this week, then you know actually it did last than it did last week, but I think the thing is, I think we'll talk a lot about how God listens to us as individuals and he likes the listen to us that way. May we all. It is a father-son daughter relationship, but he also listens to nations and groups of people together and you know he's talking there with Moses, the burning bushes that I've heard the cries of my children well you know where it were a nation founded under God were his people here in week I gotten off of following him so you know this.

The point is is you know a nation broken in meeting God can get his attention.

I am here to raise those I is an Lord, why do you not hear the cries of their children in the bondage of each. I see and not by reason for I know so therefore I will send the know is my moment of each let my you should send me. How can I delete people out of bondage. Words can I speak they will eat. I teach the same so you know, listen to that again. You just pick up on, you know, God said I'd seen the sorrows my people know and I think you know God moves in nations. I think the founding of our country in a pair of people who didn't really have a place to worship God freely. That's why the country was founded, is the heart's desire that so that's you know he did that with this chill is the children of Israel his people. That nation, he did it with our nation and I believe he's listening again he seen the sorrows of those that are truly his people, but it just a lot of times God doesn't hear or doesn't necessarily take action to we humble ourselves and get our get get the priority straight in our lives and you know sometimes it takes those things to get our attention.

I think God's got America's attention greater than it ever has.

So that God I think like you. We've said or will we will say he's always listening that there are certain things really get his attention surrounding events in Scripture and it look like your yeah there's a couple that I just I just love this whole idea like you're saying the word he listed individuals who listens to groups of people.

He listens to his church. He listens to nations. He listens and I just love that factors like bear worries basic talking early in Exodus about AI. I've heard the cries of my people right and then later on when he is basically going through other commandments and the law of what they're supposed to be like an exit. Exodus 2223 if you cry afflict him at all.

I'm sorry if you afflict him at all and if he does cry out to me God. I will hear his cry so it and then flexion when you're down when you're out when you're at the end of your rope.

I've hit the bottom. Whatever the phrase you want to use when you're down, he's there for you. That's just a great comfort right there to know that I know so many people and we talked with them at boot camp site is for likable young guy doesn't hear me or this without an all man's like that's what is probably hear you the most is when you actually just poured out when you just let it go and not just try to scripted are below.

This is what I have to do know just what your emotions and stuff flow out to them, good or bad years you can like David and Psalms the miniport it all out so if you got an experience like that in your life.

Oh yeah well yeah it's a big time while that's that's where you gotta come down and think of the one right at you because there's like so many different once it hits you.

I know that for me when coming to know God and you like start when you realize who he really is. So when you know about baby Christian. And I'm just starting to learn who he is and how much higher is Sondheim always drives back and forth to work with those moments make they fit me much since the intubated cyst like you're driving along and you long ago was that you're talking about cash now.

It's been seven years ago. Okay so your your driving and you give something that's stuck in you. It what you have just said to my weather event done. It's my wife or my kids were wasn't where a lot of the never coming up because it was a site I realized how I was treating them. You know I wasn't given the attention they deserve. When the tension they got was negative know it was how can I be more loving. Just when you start to figure out this is how sinful and how bad not wretched. I was in these situations and you just want to poured out and use have that great cry and this is, it's a relief that once that's out and it's you've let it go to the Lord. The healing on the backside of that and how good he makes you feel because he's like I'm not to leave you in that spot.

He works with the needs and come through that and need have come back, have a much better relationship with him and then you'd have a lot but relation with your own family through that and that's that's that's what some of my experiences been down the Trinity and James time so this is one of the things I kind of wanted to share this was a not a minister part of my story is not like some part part of its kind in Vegas back in the day before out really good. My life to the Lord in my 20s used to destroy struggle with repetitive sin. I remember you knew I was as a new what I believe is a Christian but I could really get victory over some things and I just remember praying what seemed to be a very vain and ridiculously stupid because I would pray. God help me to be the best Christian I can be found very vain because I just go about doing whatever I want you and it was very un-big that there was a part of me that God heard that prayer there was somewhat of a desire to do that even though I didn't really know how to walk it out or or do it and I could even quantify that if I had reach that destination when he did that and then I did really get turned on. For God, but I still have a lot of broken but still a lot of things we talked about where you think you were working with uncle Christ in you weren't necessarily in your unit victory in areas and stuff. So to dig into that. Yeah which you write this down, take notes, help me be the best Christian possibly that's I don't know that that's all that vain a prayer. I actually like it because Willie married it's open-ended enough to where you got good take that wherever he wants to go exactly he knew he knew that vision much but when you say he answered that specifically where there people he put your life was there desire for Scripture what well there was a broken relationship in my 20s that got me my first go round and then it repetitive with me. Another broken relationship and get take me to the next. I we got more broke by all means go to rest and journey.org register for the boot. Then we do pray pray prayers you know what I was even thinking that I really think God was going to hear me when always praying that.

This made me this book in a better Christian than what I actually am but he truly is a God who listens to us and I like a lot of that you know that for him to really hear us. We do have to humble ourselves. A lot of times all the time, it bit you know through that we truly find that he does list tooth.

We don't always get the answer that we want or think we need, but he he has an answer for us and it's good for us and on. I hear that prayer. Andy is hope. I mean, I don't know what I'm doing here God, which is clearly where I met most of the island doing but I think you got it Heather so make it happen. You know how that works. So Wayne you've hung on side one point about that. That's true, little quick is that I think I think it there was this thought that God is this going to step down and do it all for me and obviously as you learn to get the partnership God will do his part, but you're expected to do your part and I found I finally felt that what my part was so Wayne about you, buddy for me. I am sorry out when you want to swing the market over that.

For me it was, it would be obvious love. You want God. Love those around the thing he told desires mercy, not back elected me to the Scripture, where no whatever comes with angels in the nation. Any those to his right left wealth on a servant that is not because they were in pain anymore. They didn't think they didn't. Never messed up again not eat them. Well done good and faithful because of the way they love that they made at those who didn't have a drink. I took in strangers that this is imprisoned, you know, we touch God's heart. When we act and when we become like the best hope just this journey. I believe that we've looked more like an and Sun Life equity do you love the unlovable/on that. Actually Wayne want you now share with us where you been for the last few days. Interesting timing for sure, I've got a real good friend that I worked on more like that.

My dad about her dad not been at the hospital for the last four days I got called and he been in the hospital about half already and no one else was visiting him there was things going on there again will covet everyone's Braden block and I understand that not taking that down or anything but I really didn't want this man experience in the loan. I got a call to call four days ago that he was about, just that I went to father Nana. This man called me another sonnet of Panama, and and they did let me in the last four days sitting with that day was a really good day great day conversations like we always had about the Lord's life in general and went down this morning. I get be with them when he went to look it was a great honor.

A lot of people can look at it and think I'm crazy and I'm not An interesting conversation wanting it all back to God. But I love them enough to do that. I love them enough to put myself in that place where you list things don't matter and then you see it missionaries anyone truly dies itself and goes after organa hacked learn to do in the days to come. Level I want you to since you finally joined us like how the site to follow Wayne because that was really serious but sometimes we need to accommodate relieve the tension and that is a wonderful story line appreciate here. The first well first couple things I came to mind were ones I've used fairly recently. So now I need something else reminded me of the summer before I got married I was going down to visit Carolyn. I don't remember why I was driving along the coast that I was going from Georgetown Charleston and this was in 1973 so there's there's much they are now except Francis Marion state park.

I think that I was driving along I looked at my gas gauge is on empty and I was 20 or 30 miles past Georgetown.

There is no way to get back.

I was further than that from Charleston and I just threw up a little prayer as I got him a lot of trouble if I don't get a gas station near and the driving and I'm looking at trees are down on either side of the road. There is nowhere to even built anything in the middle of the swamp and I'm cruising along in thinking okay God cannot. I really didn't expect it, and I saw a light in the distance. I first thought of as an oncoming car when it was one bulb hanging from a door of a little redneck bar that had gas pumps. Now I was still in my head on my hair was short because I just got on the Citadel somewhat in trouble, but I was thinking in terms I can go in there, which had to go into pay for the gas now and expected to be in trouble at the guy didn't realize I didn't have long hair anymore, so I was okay but I went ahead I got the gas got to Charleston and had I decided that I was afraid to go back the way I'd come because I was pretty sure place really what it was the middle of absolutely nowhere and but God answers prayers will think you said earlier that took me and he is. It's a dialogue and God's always listening to us, but you know that always speak to us and that didn't mean that we're not gonna get an answer and I got my answer very quickly, but quite often my prayers and I suspect a lot of people out there. It is a monologue and it got a clip that actually discussion between and since I took so much time leading up to it will jump right in and because this is talking to God so there's nothing to set up an interview with God is different. I exist outside of girl I created come from all this and he would be more productive.

We don't waste time on questions to which you already know, not think you all people know why my answer is the nature of God were on world around you that we struggle here on all the questions and answers that make you feel uncomfortable and divine perspective is not required to see this from my point of view this is not an easy process questions and only ends his conversation. No one likes a know it all.

You said you said you should know I'm I is when the you have a degree in religious and range class start working Harold in their online and minimize my and I also know about your merit having you waiting for his you ask for proof that God is listening is here answering and is always there, one of the things that appeals to me about this clip is that it is God has a divine sense of humor later and that's frequently how he talks to me. I may not be everybody but he is always listening and he's not going to answer the questions we already know the answer to that often.

That's what we ask. That's in there and that Andy did a great job cut this clip it sort of strung together so fast that you have to listen fast, that's the problem from Yankees, but I doubt struggle with that little bit but it's it's a great representation of the dialogue that we should be having with God because he is going to answer most of our questions with questions really sets my experience so you know there's the question that goes back to you as a listener right like when you think about your own prayers, your own testimony hundred 19 Psalms beautiful looking at how important your testimonies are how I where you are and I witnessed it was certain that God actually did, and you can hear how many times King David said he kept these testimonies were.

He thought about these testimonies and you might remember, she read the book covers progress.

How close those testimonies were in his heart he knew that these were times that God did come in, God did answer and what that means as far as continuing to grow effects that we have this conversation coming up after hours podcast for attorneys podcast page you can get all that that will become up right after the show, but in the meantime, we would love to make all kinds testimonies happened at the next boot camp November 18 through the 21st go to mass concerning radio and we didn't punch on Sam just one time but I will say G we missing shoe catch next week.
