So how do we keep from losing heart trying to find a way life feels more like a losing battle than something worth dying for, grab your gear and come on a quest band of brothers will serve as the guides we call the masculine journey masculine journey starts here now. Welcome to the boot camp post post picking up additional masculine journey.

Welcome guys. It's great to be here. It is good to be back.

I'm so tired I guess coming every day about 2 o'clock. It is going is a good tired yet is a good tired yet what were things that people ask is where do we get our topics in, on, and I think most of time we could really just use the church answer, which is always Jesus. Jesus is exactly the Sunday school answer always applies. But you where we get them from. It is really just a variety of places that the one that were using this week.

Actually, I came through in the ring and we all take turns drawing a topic in the ring, but it came from a song about of all things, the closing of a drinking establishment in Canada. The show right at the end of the night and saw it I was just at home. I love to have music on and I just said hey you know I like to play soft rock in on the song came on. At one point and I heard it again an episode of the office and then Darren was calling it a little over the weekend. I didn't realize that I was. But you know every night at big Camp.

The teen gets together, as things are winding down to pray in and to just laugh together and celebrate the day. Quite frankly, I would say that's probably the thing we do mourn anything you celebrate the day. And you know eventually you're worn out. I mean we we all probably get about three hours of sleep a night at a boot camp and that starts on Wednesday for us and so you know I found myself saying what guys you don't gotta go home. You just gotta get out of this cabin I need sleep. Maybe it's partly his fault because they convince dogs. That's one of the lines from the song were to go home, you can't stay here. But the part that always fended stood out to me of the song closing time from sonic. I think the name of the group was this one little sentence in the middle and at the very end that they sum it up with is, it didn't seem to fully fit with the song at the end of the lyric and will hear that the the bump and as we come back and you hear this is little bit but it's that the words are. Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings and you know nothing will. But something to think about it on the more I thought about the more I thought if that's really true.

Sometimes for something new to start something else has to go away and so you are throughout the group and even talk about we get some clips to get some stories on shares.

We go through it and that's in Scripture that's always good on Christian British editors in Scripture there to which we plan on doing that, you know, for me that's it. Sometimes we we mourn so much over what was lost, but we could potentially lose the opportunity for the new beginning and so go ahead and go to a cliff and Andy would you mind setting up the clip and this one liked, and I didn't know Alexa was so inspirational sought to watch out for that guy got. I had Google so I'll have to save that work for me. So you on this clip is a movie but I found this clip I thought was pretty good. It's from up in the air. Ryan, being homage to the George Clooney character is a HR consultant and they're going around and doing let people go and all this downsizing culture that we saw back in the mid-2000 and that he's working on his frequent farmhouse in his company tried to take them off the road and do everything by videoconferencing. Does that sound appropriate now fired by videoconferencing. This is it over right so it's just he takes out his boss with them on one of these road trips and shame he's trying to convince them that hey I really need to be there because I do this in a proper way you know you're in in somebody's employment, so this is the clip again. Sorry. Pick it up. He's letting somebody and there's three people there that's it's George Clooney's character. The Persians may not go on his third passing of his. His boss will go and what you suggest I tell them Sandra's children positive effect make about 90 grand a year now. Unemployment is what 250 bucks a week that your positive effects will get to be cozier not pay my mortgage on my house so may we can move in one nice one bedroom apartment somewhere and I guess without benefits will be able to hold my daughter as she know suffers from her asthma that I will be able to afford the medication for well shown that children under moderate academically as a coping children's admiration is important in that was doubt they ever admired what she supposed to be consoling me not assuring him a wake-up call. You know why kids love athletes because the lingerie models.

That's why we love athletes kids love athletes because they follow their dreams. Well, I French culinary arts. Most of this there was a fire at KFC you bus tables ideal to support yourself and get a college company work here, should they first paid to give up on your dream. 27 grand a year and when we got to stop and come back and do what makes you happy.

I see guys who work at the same company for their entire lives guys exactly like you clock and a clock out. They never have a moment of happiness. You have an opportunity. This is a rebirth not for you do if you children. I was not really expecting that we sent a clipping on it began to knowing how this is a really.wow usually start with allowing track and that you have admitted it really kinda sets the tone of what were talking about in there when you think of this topic. New beginnings and something handy in words that take you takes me to the places where I've left you know behind where I had friends, I've moved a good bit in my life as an adult. In business you usually job transfers and things like that and when I moved to North Carolina.

It was a job transfer and had I not left Nashville Tennessee which I loved loved the church. I was at love the community of people. I was in everything else. Had I not left that though, which was hard. I wouldn't be sitting here, you know with you guys today. I was in the full-time ministry several years ago here and had I not left as a pulpit minister for a church lead minister for church. I don't think I would've ever found.

My heart honestly in this ministry and and in this community of guys. This band of brothers in and we get to do so much ministry now and we see the results of it. You know a we just got back from a big camp we we got to see guys hearts come alive again and we got to see guys open their eyes to the spiritual warfare around them open their eyes to their calling here their new names what God says about them rather than what in the world says about them, which is your loser begin right afire you and so getting to see that on a regular basis.

I don't think I would've gotten that had I stayed as a lead minister of the church.

I sure didn't have it much then.

I mean there were there were good good times and I got to see people come to Christ and that sort of thing, but but II did not get to see the kind of thing you know that we see here which is all of that and more. You know, it is seen guys come to Christ and more in their hearts back save in their marriages.

And I think that it never been a pastor you know the church that I would think that there's a big difference in what people are willing probably tell you now write it in the minute hand versus all I can tell the pastor that oh yeah you nominally can really be authentic and be themselves. Only time I ever heard anything then was once it was either a crisis or somebody was mad because the thermostat was wrong. Now me and was basically at it and I am exaggerating. There was lots of blessings to but most of the time people wouldn't let me into their life authentically as the as the pastor and in furthermore I didn't really know whether I could trust them and mine right which is an even scarier thought. But now I have nothing to lose. Nobody can fire me. They can't say you can't preacher anymore because I don't and so I can say anything I want. That's biblical and righteous, and lay my head on the pillow at night and feel good about Jim for you as we talk about this topic. Let's look something that's God laid on her heart about new beginnings you known something coming to an end. First well change is scary noises.

It doesn't matter if it's the loss of a job, the death of a marriage or moving into a new house in Allegheny I it's is it's the unknown that Sia part that you stumble with. That's also part that expands you. That's the part that stretches you, you know everything that we have been doing this life know God is.

We are basically preordained any new you're going to go through it right and all too often when these major changes take place brings in turmoil brings in a heart ache, but those things you can use to minister of others like we do with the boot camp and on part part of the boot camp for us is to share our stories and let the guys know in the in the seats that you were screwed up to but were here and so we can share the stories we can share the victories afterwards because with every new beginning.

There's always triumphs that happen along the way you yeah it's it it's amazing. I was thinking about this all the different things and in my life. The first season that I'm I mourned and then look looking back when you have clarity you can say wow if that was still the way it was then, if that didn't come to an end. There's no way I could've been emotionally available, physically available, whatever it may be for the new beginning to happen in one of the things that I told you guys it's it's I had some bad walked in this message with him. I lived in Indiana, you know, we met every week were good friends best friends we we talked about our past.

We talked about things I moved to North Carolina he moved down the long after that and so we kinda stayed that close and then all of a sudden you know one day he's gone and he moved back to Indiana and I don't hear from him again and I'm pretty devastated because were like really close and it was a pretty traumatic thing for me what I intended not more than about three weeks later I get an email from someone named Aronson say I got your name off of the master the red smart website would like to talk about big gaps you know and and I'm in a much deeper group. No deeper with with with Darren obviously than I was with with the guy at the time you know he is no mountain is more my story.

You guys know more about me and I truly have a community that would have that if the whole thing had not ended. As we come back and talk more about it. We can have some Scripture will have the boot camp sometime this fall's motion for we don't have a date yet but we will have something come up next few weeks will let you know about that. We can listen to the masculine journey and find out why we use clips like the to illustrate the story, God is telling in the lives of truth is God designed you which flights do we pick to grab your gear and come in every Saturday and shortest at just what you like it like this must be Robby's think is really cool for me at this boot camp that we would really never experiences a lot of the attendees actually listen to the podcast before we get a few here with you.

There pretty much most of the law came from the populace of the podcast that it's it's it was people from South Carolina and Virginia Ohio all over the place. It was pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of funny because we would stick say something they Artie knew a lot of our stories today but listen to the news is pretty funny and is like at meeting old friends. You didn't know you had which is just the way I would describe it because you know you talk to him and was able to make good connections pretty quickly because they had been listening to this for a while so encouraging and when we do announce next boot camp please come. It was such an amazing time at the God guided some amazing things for II think everybody there. You know it we got some great testimonials from guys which will be playing in the upcoming weeks and did some stuff for us is as a group. Then there was the baptism right now absolutely Romney's son right there on Main Rodney. That was just like beyond cool Rosina dad baptizes some before that was cool neither. So yeah, I was just one of those things that my son came to Christ couple years ago. He lives in Charlotte. I'm in Winston, so were not together all the time A's in school. He's even got a job over the summer down there, so it's been great for him and we talked couple months ago, probably before the last boot camp was scheduled and he was like dad would you baptize me and on this.

I will yeah of course I'd love to, but do you want me to know that I get official I know I got you, you not want to do this email list with other feel legalistic things come in my head right right now I feel exactly the same like is it official. If you never you. I think you missed an opportunity to say this is my son, of whom am well pleased. Yeah I had a family are yeah definitely are authorized yeah and I know and that's one of the things I love listening to the Robertsons you know, unashamed podcast. It was a big yellow did they do it all the time and have been doing it and some are ordained and some are not.

You have learned encounters and deer hunters only CEF is great. So we we came to the camp mineral like okay will as I said both of we don't do it before and will do it again and then we were able to close the camp with no I want the greatest things ever happened to me that I was pretty awesome to watch that made you – presenting videos is great. None of that seen in the bathing suit is bandaging anywhere monitor the next surge is having some fun with her brother is that it is an amazing thing and in the videos really pretty cool to watch it able to do that with thing and that way I should tell you that it actually inspired our office manager. Here the Truth Network that her grandson you really want to be baptized but didn't want to do in the church and he didn't think he was authorized now, but so it was pretty cool that that she sent him that so that he could see that yeah there is a way to get baptized without actually being in a church building a course he was very much involved with the church at the point he was being baptized. So back to our topic of new beginnings.

Coming from something outstanding and he would you read the Scripture from Ecclesiastes sure this is a tree of life version which I just started seeing a little bit more but I like this. This version for everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. In everything's going beginning of these can have an end. It's going to come around. And for the older people like Harold was telling us about a song from from the birds which we know the song dance birds 13 season turn turn turn in your area has a you find that in the unabridged something or other yearly additional books. There are think at the department dared what about the Scripture you're talking about the really heartless topic. Well as I was thinking about it. Philippians 25 came up on lots of things in the Noah's flood, you know me and the flood comes up there's there's lots of new beginnings in Scripture and but talking about a new beginning and a change of geography and all of those things the best one that I could think of was actually Philippians 25 you know through eight, nine, 10, but it's it's talking about Jesus when one pulses have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but he emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, and so here we have the best example of you are Savior, he's he's in the us intimate wonderful community of the Godhead in in the geography of heaven.

Any leaves that any comes to a much more lowly place, but it's to our benefit, that that he does. And ultimately it's even to his benefit because he got to rescue that which he was trying to rescue and if he doesn't make that change. If he doesn't do that if he doesn't end one season to court. Ecclesiastes the new season. Cannot begin and so I just that was, were, my mind went immediately that Jesus is the penultimate model of this thought process as you go back through the Old Testament and Abram became Abraham and the step in doing what he was called, had the in the season where he wasn't going to a new land they got is constantly calling people from one in one thing and go into an adventure. It seemed like her time be changed by his name that he goes into seven different they got a new place and start a new beginning. And so you probably think of the office, like in order to get to season six finished season five.

You have to get to the end of it.

So yeah yeah Robby 51. This is kind of well as as they are growing up, my father just was transferred to sometimes regularly about every 18 months.

So it was really clear what we really never lived anyplace longer and more in two years in a couple months in actually my life until I was in my 40s and Enos to mention there's actually there's a backside of this that's not so good it actually became a crutch in my life that I always knew hey don't write everything down hill here. I get a new beginning here in a few weeks… Not really long and you know, I know that teacher did like me but the next and what actually happened was when I got the six grade. I failed and my family was like oh I were him move so you mean you can start a new school and your distance occurred again.

No problem in working to give you new name because I got sick of being called Bruce because you know for the gender issues and I do know how to put it in so I change my name to Bob Junior and then I had this Bob Junior identity for a number years and later on in life and I needed to change that again because the dog pretty much destroyed the Bob Junior image and now I became Robby actually in my 20s and it became a crutch in my life that I didn't really go deep into relationships for consumer, last and I didn't really apply myself to certain things because it wouldn't really matter because I was gonna be gone and so as I said, there's there's two sides to this particular equation and it was really cool for me is now.

I lived in Winston-Salem over 20 years, which is the first time that's ever happened in order to do that. I really have friendships way longer than I ever experienced. You know all sorts of things that actually like sinking roots into this so there's a balance there somewhere safe yesterday on the opposite end of that. I'm a creature of habit.

Gotta make my life uncomfortable for me to do anything about it free to change the Robby was that part of the witness protection program is that as general version on it and you know I was like that is like to change name change location in the it really was and so I'm on my third name and that's you know when I get a new one in heaven so I can I'm trying things out so the preview would we have the a session on the new name of the camp. You are like I got this with that II have been I have been in fact you know when I would go other places where people knew me. Like if I go back to Albuquerque. All my friends call me Bob Junior and if I went back to, you know, like older places they call me Bruce, and it is gets really confusing like especially if my families with me, like who are they talking to all that's me. I used to be that that answer. So God still reviewing the incident as we talk about this topic of you know, another being something community beginning coming to an end so you can have a new beginning. Words that can take your heart so when I first thought about that you know I've told the story about how God moving from one job to the other life took off as I had been kind, stale, and where I was at and that was a good thing talk about that in a minute that you know I got the thing about to the new beginnings.

It's how you process them. When I moved down here from Missouri Missouri. As we were talking on the show before it was a big change for me. I was big male, campus in that small place, we I lived in. I was 19 years old came down here I was a nobody and it was a difficult adjustment over time of got my best friends. This is home to me that was a hard adjustment but going back to my career change that really that's when I came into the ministry here.

There was a lot of stuff where I had become stale and also I was in a broken relationship, and there was a lot of deadness there and coming back and really allowing God to work through that process that new beginning in so many areas of my life just opened up to where I got to meet guys like you and participate in the camp like this with the thick EI sizes that afternoon.

I say that it were you going to masking journey after hours here in a few minutes you guys get it on another podcast really continue this topic to talk about new beginnings and the good Alaska journey.org to download previous podcasts to look up anything is coming up new boot camps things of that nature to reach out to us will have new emails reposting their soon to can reach out to anyone on the team will see you next week
