Hosting will join thank Lori does me. Okay you he everything just like and let you know what others okay I says available like on the radio app called the care or website picture.com.

We are broadcasting live from Manny and husband. Search for God is the care click on send message been we can ask the question or send the message it would left this show gives the suffering and the tenacity of the human spirit will survive. Despite any obstacle with the help of God, we do provide testimonials to let people know that they're not alone. In addition, the testimony started with me having been a survivor. We also have professionals in the medical field and inspirational speakers that are willing to help and get valuable information. Because education is key. Transparency is needed and I believe we can help each other for me. My feeling came from God, but other forms of healing.

Representatives want to service that life can be very challenging. But always know, today will be talking about the effects of Congress processes. Pain quite prominent, debilitating chronic disease. There are approximately 33,000 cases each year with more than 1.6 million Americans affected at the present.

There seems to be no chair so our special guest today is Dr. Miguel Rodriguez, a prominent gastroenterologist in my the owner restaurant just consultant has more than 26 years of experience treating a variety of problems of the digestive tract, such as stomach conditions, ulcers, reflux, constipation, liver mass and cirrhosis, chronic Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

A lot of diseases… Under more real lighting. Malachi existed just thank you so much for being on the show where an outline you're very welcome. Thank you for the opportunity I just observed 80s I wanted to get an idea maybe get the listeners what is Crohn's disease. For someone that doesn't copy that they had no clue what these people go through and how they suffer and why the vital information that you have to provide today so if you can just let us know a little bit about from her symptoms are absolute processes is a autoimmune disease. What does that mean in plain words would be some parts of your body become so recognized for your old buddy or in simple words, your body decides he doesn't like or doesn't recognize… It's all when that happens processes is usually your smoking testing on your large intestine.

What processes can affect other parts of the body as well is a VCs that sometimes creeps on the individual without any previous knowledge. They don't get exposed to any bacterial revivals or anything or any condition that would make them get this disease is just something this the road is the size brought back that part of his own previous inflammation that leads to order source of consequences such as diarrhea, leading joint pains, dryness of the eyes back pains and Crohn's disease. In particular, literally affect any part every part of our bodies from our eyes all the way down to bones and joints because as I said before, it is an autoimmune disease.

Stomach need to see if I don't remember seems that the stars in the digestive tract that it gets fat throughout the body can't income be present, affect other organs. You can have Crohn's disease from your mouth all the way to your rectum.

So the whole G.I. tract gets affected their genetic component.

This yes there is a genetic component most of the studies that have been done trying to identify potential cure have also shown that relatives of individuals with proven processes share certain genetic characteristics and yes there would be a component coming would be getting sorry it is not uncommon to have a father with Crohn's or mother with Crohn's on one of their children to have Crohn's at the same time I've seen that through my practice running the office relatively frequent that the sun gets diagnosed, but then father has been diagnosed with your 30 years before and how I suspect first you said the right where you have to suspect many patients with Crohn's disease complained that he take months if not years to come up with diagnosis. Essentially, you have to go through the same transonic careful history. Most of the symptoms will be paying any pain, abdominal pain, it would be diarrhea. He would be bleeding and many times are taken into consideration the potential exposure to a viral sorry food poisoning or things of that nature and only when the symptoms linger for weeks and months is when people start thinking that this could be a potential form of Crohn's disease, regulatory policies, so that the cursor intends to look for basically having diarrhea and mom are talking about once a how many times a day. That gives you reason to suspect you could be going to the bathroom from 3 to 15, 20 times a day and finally indicated that if blood is present. You have to have a high index of suspicion of the something like that would let the treatment now well the treatment possible through the years. If you were to ask me the same question when I was a medical student. There was only one trip. Steroids and people were taken steroids for life which passes over his own collection of problems, but the treatment through the years has evolved. There are medications that promote it will decrease the amount of inflammation associated with Crohn's. There are medications that go to the immune system trying to block the cascade of effects that when processes develop so if you are able to block.cascade or that sequence of events, then you can decrease inflammation and make the patient better.

Actually manage the disease and I use the word knowledge because I want to be people to be confused because there's really no cure at this time for processes through the years can be effectively managed with medication and one of the blessings of getting older. For some people that especially if you have Crohn's is the VCs becomes less aggressive as you get old and I understand this is a chronic disease. How often are the flames pain were the beginning it could be an everyday thing as a VCs becomes more manageable or diseases like nose and treatment. The flares can be effectively managed and spread them out or minimize the intensity of the flare which is pretty much what is the mainstay of treatment.

How do we minimize flares on how do we keep symptoms under control while at the same time trying to prevent a VCs for producing damage to the target organs such as the small intestines of the large intestine, etc. this must be a very, very difficult condition that it's something adapted to B Damien mean to our listeners. If anyone is the fact that the deceased can you please check the website for counting Québec colitis foundation information to Crohn's colitis foundation that or you can also copy at 1888.my God, my.God pain. Obviously it's something that it would be very difficult to live but silver always depending on the medication sink treatments. Are there any treatments that have been emerging to clinical research studies, but absolutely. And this is one of the areas in the gospel to all of you with active. This research takes place every day through the years. After my professional career I have experienced benefit of that research. By being able to treat the patient with initially steroids and some other preparations to medications that actually go modify the course of the seas with her. They are intravenous infusion, so they are pills or tablets and the training today is to all these infusions of injections that are associated with processes of the patients can certainly relate to it to become a pill that can make the seas more manageable.

The ultimate goal is to manage the VCs at the beginning of the process rather than allow it to develop all the complications that may occur and as I always tell the patient is a city seas that will have no cure. Your life will change you need to adjust your life to the species and make sure you think so how often the surgery and since I how I had a professor.

This is once you start, you never stop cutting your portfolio is better to avoid surgery at all costs. And when I started my reserve is anyone assigned to treatment as soon as possible because the quicker you get the disease under control, the less likely you're going to have the complications associated with this now many cancer treatment could they possibly grow and resistance to the medication with the body adapts and they have to depend on different medications or new medication to treatments that is absolutely true by could potentially develop resistance or just another allergic reaction, so to speak, and I don't want to click into an allergic reaction. Specifically, what the Bolick body would be able to develop resistance to love the mix of educational be as effective as it was at the beginning and that's why we have nowadays a whole series of medications that can be exchanged if you don't see a good response of the patient.

That's why not us. And it's constantly emerging and one of the ways that they did.

This is to clinical research studies so that they can find the medication back today and would notice anything patient. So if someone were to let say anticipating a beach research study.

What would be letting the requirements while he thinks the researcher studies are available at different levels, from universities to practices like mine where we have the protocols of research available for patients who may not be responding to the standard of care and of course it's all done under FDA regulations. This is not that we woke up the wrong side of the Veterans Day and it served very scientifically done so essentially this with new medications are treating the disease at different levels therefore making it the disease more work to be more efficiently treated the same time with less side effects. The particles are available through positions licensed physician offices as well as universities and it's a matter of doing a little bit of research on the online identify those places right.

It's almost as if it's not anything tailor-made for the person that cannot work better at their level. Well, this is the trend of medicine for the 21st century to develop personalized medicine not just a digital steak to aspirins and call me in the morning. What actually come up with a medication that is for Joan Smith and for the personal and are actually we are one of the centers.

I see research so there's hope in research absolutely so you know is never give up hope I did not even know that this condition existed and that people suffering such a way and I'm just grateful that there is intelligent doctors.

Dr. Rodriguez and people who can sit back and try to help each other in the best way possible. Think you don't talk like that you might have some ranch you are extremely informative.
