You want to glorify God with degrees in your life. Listen closely to Adrian Rogers knows some of you won't win about which mode was wrong. You got a financial problem but you don't want it with glory. God is no more money. Some of the real social problem with the glory God you just want we have received when we get serious about wanting God to be glorified in God's good mood. There is power in a sanctified spirit for a person who says it is not what I live or die, so long as God is glorified. Welcome to Leavenworth featuring the timeless messages pastor and author Adrian Rogers story of David and Goliath teaches us how to deal with the problems in our lives. If I wanted today's message Pastor Rogers explained how Goliath represents the vicious enemy behind our problems. The devil, everything from his measure to his motive mimics Satan's testing trying and fighting the people of God. There are three principles to remember in order to live like kings and queens in victory. If you have your Bible turn to first Samuel chapter 17 as Adrian Rogers delivers the powerful conclusion of live like a king in victory. We all have some giant size problem some king-size problems.

Some are and some cruel giants that have threatened us and threaten our love Goliath like problems and many people who listening to me tonight are living lives of quiet desperation because of some problem in my life. Giants temptation giants of fear Giants of jealousy.

Giants of covetousness, discouragement, heartbreak, financial reverse problems really zaps what were talking about God's plan for his people's victory always and in every circumstance. Thanks be to God who causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus and all these things we are more than conquerors super Congress through him that loved us.

And so, dear friend. Just as David defeated Goliath so long ago should have Have blessed God will have wonderful wonderful victory.

Now I want to just imagine the giant in your life.

Is it lust is an envy is materialism is a laziness. Is it fear is agreed. Is it hatred is a doubt what is it that stands between you and God's will for your life and the joy but God wants you to have his victory in Jesus and there is a victorious example in this story, so that you can live like a king. Are you ready for three principles that are here.

First of all, there is a principal of persistence any bad is going to be one by those who are persistent. I want you to look if you will, in verse 32 of this chapter.

Chapter 17 and verse 32.

And David said to Saul, let no man's heart fail because of him by servant will go and fight with this listing.

David purposed in his heart he would do and what he purposed in his heart he was not dictated by anything. There was the dismay of others. Others were frightened you will in verse 11 chapter 17 verse 11 when Saul and all Israel heard those words above listing.

They were dismay and greatly afraid and Outlook if you will, in verse 24 and all of Israel when they saw the man fled from him, for they were sore afraid. I don't fear is infectious, but David was adopted by their fear.

You see in your battle, you find that which is surrounded by a bunch of cowards about your weak kneed people to people who feel that it really cannot be done and do not care for their fears going in fact, you and the marvelous thing about David is this that he was persistent in the face of the dismay of others, the fear of man made Saul a coward. The fear of God made David a hero. David had his eyes upon God, and therefore he was filled with a purpose. That was a persistence in spite of the dismay of others.

Look, if you will, in verse 28 again and Ely had the eldest brother heard when he spake on the man in the man's anger was kindled against David and said why came is now down here with whom is dull.

If those few sheep in the wilderness, can you hear him as he curls the lipid disdain Sonny boy this is for the big boys.

Here you have any right down here. Yes you she not only was there dismay.

There was disdain.

They look down upon David to look down upon you do know that the devil has laughed many a man out of victory people just stared at us and we fold up and just run away. They laughed a little. David and doubtless their laughter cut him to the quick, but he refused to let up or back up or shut up about you.

Some of you in high school are you going let somebody ridicule you for your faith. You carry Bible school euro value hit thank God for the food there intellectual just like you would home. Are you going to stand up to the Lord Jesus when someone else takes his name in vain. Are you afraid what they might think David had a purpose. He said I'm going to have not only was there dismay and not only was there disdain but it was also discouragement.

What you will, in verse 33 and Saul said to David, thou art not able to go against this listing was at that said that that was solid, it was all he was the king and became expert was a classic example or definition of an expert in exes I has been on the spur is a grip on the pressure.

But he was an expert and he said it can't be done. I won't tell you when you get ready to live for God. And when you get ready to get out of it would both be ready to take a small stone in a sling and cross that validates Jordan I face the same freely Uniface.

Those are in despair or go to be compelling calamity go to face those with disdain.

They got me laughing at you and you go to face those with discouragement say can be done Uniface the same thing will David face to close these people out and get along with God and given the secret counsel and get your eyes on God and you lose the battle you listen to what these people say can't be done. You listen to what these people say you have got what it takes to do it. They laugh at you.

They ridicule you and the rest of scared to death themselves and with a bad I believe one of the reasons that David was mighty for God is that he spent time alone with God.

We wilderness real eyewash.

The shepherd had a transistor radio up to his ear photo board. David had one of those we would have the 23rd Psalm is my she mice my soul said I don't care what he said I don't care what anybody says I will know what Johnson's so there was a purpose. The principle of persistence. I will go you know why some of you know when the band you never show up. You don't even someone doing one man was bragging about what a great Christian he was. He said all I'm not afraid of the devil is not even a question ladies. Jim is the devil afraid of you. The Bible says, resist the piece to flee from us all right, but now is another principal. Not only was there the principle of persistence or purpose.

Either we will put but it was also another principal there was a principal of progression. I want to look if you will, in verses 34 through 37 of the same chapter. Now Saul said to David, you can't do it and David said to Saul in verse 34 my servant kept his father. She and I came a lion and the bear took a lamb out of the flock and I went after him, and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth and when he arose against me. I call him by his and slew him by servant slew both the lion and the bear and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God know what is the principle here is the principle of progression. You see David before thought glia borderline and a bear anyone.

Those victories and because he had one those victories.

He was ready for a another victory.

You see, David had learned to go from victory on the victory and before Jesus met and defeated Satan at Calvary, he met and defeated Satan in the wilderness and Jesus had gone from victory on the victory and Jesus met Satan in private in the wilderness so that he might meet him in public account is brings up another point. The reason that some of us are not winning our big battles is that we losing a little and the Bible says he that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also that which is much as some of you are not going to be ready when the Incredible Hulk comes along. Because you haven't been being faithful and those little things is if you want know what a man is made out of watching in the little things God could use a David because the first time just a little sheep out there, but he's a shepherd, take your mushy wonderland. Maybe daddy would know.

Maybe no one else is no but I will be faithfulness, which is least I care. When time came for Goliath.

He slew him, and try to tell you is this, that we need to trust God in the small things. There's a principal purpose.

I want to do progression you will be faithful where you are.

You be faithful in that which is small and that which is least in God will help you to be faithful in that which is much now this one last principal and I'm going to be finished in this victorious example is also principle of power that David did not go against Goliath. In spite of his purpose and in spite of his progression without any power. He had tremendous power and one was is powerless begin reading in verse 38 as we continue to read here all right. In verse 38 and Saul alarmed David with his armor and he put on and helmet of brass upon his head and he armed them with a coat of mail and David girded his sword upon his armor and he assayed to go for he had not proved it and David said to Saul, I can go with these product and David put them off him and he took his staff in his hand and chosen five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had even in a script and his sling was in his hand and he drew near to the Philistine and the Philistine became old and Hernando David and the man that bear the seal went before him, and when the Philistine he looked about and saw David.

He disdained him, for he was but a youth and ruddy, and of a fair countenance and listing set a date and my dog that comes to me with staves in the Philistine cursed David by his God and the Philistine said to David come to me and I will give my flesh to the thousand year end to the beast of the fee that is on the board when I get my hands on you. I'm going to break your little pieces and feed you to the pigeons then said David to the Philistine, I don't miss this, thou comes to me with a sword, and with the spear with the shield but I come under the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou has defied this day will the Lord deliver the end of mine hand, and I will slightly and take thine head from the die will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day into the files of the air, and to the wild beast of the air that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel and those versus the principle of power is delineated.

What was the power that rested upon this man enabled a teenage boy.

The sanctified sentence saving one to do what he did. First of all, he had powerful methods he refused. King Saul's armor. King Saul was a huge man but stolen.

David was on their size man could they put all his armor little David very easy just a boy when you grow is just great big breast plate is his heavy sword in the seal sitting lopsided. I played football. One dime of a helmet couple sizes too big, that's tough little David out there. I guess take I can't use it. Then he went back to his proven methods. What is Astellas. It tells us ladies and gentlemen, that when we fight Satan.

We cannot use on sanctified armor. The Bible tells us in second Corinthians chapter 10 in verse four, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down strongholds. You're not going to overcome Satan with psychology United overcome Satan with the power of positive thinking United overcome Satan with education you not going to overcome Satan with money you're not going out organizing you not going out publicizing you know the saddest thing I believe in our nation are many churches wearing armor Madison Avenue trying to outdo the devil, the world can our world is everything and had David put on armor just like old live had David would have been ignominiously defeated.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, we have the shield of faith, we have the sword of the Spirit and we have the armor of righteousness. So there must be a powerful method.

There must be a powerful master then said David to the Philistine, thou comes to me with a sword, and with the spear, and with the shield but I come to the in the name of the Lord of hosts. But God of the armies of Israel, whom thou has defied you see David came in the power name did you know that we as Christians come against Satan and the power of a name is the name of Jesus, but that was not afraid of the name Adrian, though the name of Jesus I come to be in the name of Jesus.

You see, the Bible says Jesus said if you ask anything in my name I will do.

We can come if we have the right method. We put aside this on sanctified armor the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. And if we come not put in the name of Jesus and come against Satan are Goliath essay Satan I as God's man come against you in the name she's is a well you sure he says that is what I I would expect him to say Fran if there's anything that I've learned in my ministry is the power of the name of Jesus. And when the times when I don't even know what the Paris I just bow my head and repeat. Jesus is Lord over and over again. Jesus is Lord I come to you. David said in the end of the Lord's and the Lord of host is Jesus Christ himself. Now let me go on and they one of thing about this power and that I'll be finished. First of all there. There was this purpose, and there was this progression in there was this power power will a powerful method powerful master and a powerful motive. Look, if you will, in verse 46.

Looking what was the motive of David that day. David said this day will the Lord deliver the in the mine hand, and I will smite the and take thine head from the and I will give the carcasses of a host of the Philistines this day into the files of the air into the wild beast of the earth.

And here was his motive that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Not that there's a David in the camp, but there is a God in Israel. His motive was for the glory of God. And that's why when the battle you know some of you won't win the battle. Which motive is wrong. You got a financial problem that you don't want to get whipped for the glory God is no more money in the bank. Some of you got a social problem you want with the glory God. You just won't be happy. You see, look when we get serious about wanting God to be glorified in God's good move when we get the right method we get the right master.

We get the right motive. We got power.

This power, there is power in the sanctified spirit for person who says it is matter what I live or die, so long as God is glorified you will be filled Holy Spirit, you reduce all your goals and aims to one thing that Jesus be glorified and you will automatically be filled spear, so my soul Lord Bill Mesabi great preacheras I'm not interested how the Lord Bill resigned his soulas I could careless Holy Spirit tell me so I can live a clean line posters is ho-hum Holy Spirit, fill me that Jesus will be glorified. All you want. Jesus glorified. So do I I'll fill you. Incidentally, I may make your preacher help you live a clean life and make a prayer warrior and all those other things but not as an end in themselves. Only the Jesus be glorified that what you want is a principal ladies and gentlemen of purpose.

Have you made those good life you are going to discourage her themselves. Don't be so afraid they say can't be done as a principal progression.

You may not have a Goliath out there may be that person the damage offender when you get out of the parking that felt picked up your top this unit will have loosens what he will do the big principal progression and is a principal right method, right master right we would live in victory, we must reduce our aim to one thing that Jesus be glorified.
