How can you love the things you don't listen closely to Adrian Rogers it will bill you no good watch sold for ever you say. Well, the pastor said the law and I'm going to love so you just great sureties is ongoing of it that kills you have what it means. The only way that you can love is to have the love of God and you're welcome to featuring the insightful messages of pastor, teacher and author Adrian Rogers, Nikita assurance and fellowship with God's love, part one of today's message.

We learned that the legacy of love is first a good conscience if we have love in our hearts, our consciences are clear and we have full transparency toward everyone. We also have a great confidence, but our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence that our prayers will be answered. If you have your Bible turned out first John chapter 3, beginning in verse 11 as Adrian Rogers concludes this powerful message. The legacy of love today is what this sort of a word that we passed by this kind of shopfloor but I want you to learn from the word of God today.

The legacy of love. Let me tell you why love is so very very important number one is excellently the greatest investment you'll ever make the greatest investment you will ever make and why John is giving us here are three things that we gain three things that we receive training benefits and blesses from when we learn to love what is the legacy daily on the first one is a good conscience. The second one is a great confidence, and the third is a gracious communion. That's the legacy of love. Now, first of all is looking.

We can see how we have a good conscience.

When will not notice in verse 19 and hereby we know that we are the truth and shout sure our hearts before him far condemn us, God is greater than our heart and with all what causes your heart to continue.

Lack of love. When you have malice in your heart. We have hatred in your heart you have a condemning heart. God is wired you.

That way if you're saying if you're born again you can fail to love and have good conscience, but the Scriptures down first. Of the 119 holding faith and a good conscience, but this one that acts chapter 24 in verse 16. Paul said this is the apostle Paul talks about his ambition, he said, and herein. Do I exercise myself to have always a constant void of offense toward God and toward men milled author said that conscience a good conscience is this that inner freedom of spirit and assurance from knowing that you have a transparency toward everyone that no one is able to point a finger at you and accuse you of wrongs told him that you never made right, you can just take that definition by Bill Gossard and write the word love listen to it again. That inner freedom of spirit and assurance from knowing that you have a transparency toward everyone that no one, no one is able to point a finger at you and accuse you of stored him that you've never made right there is absolutely no way that you can have a good conscience without love. When you allow you make it right and when you make it right. You have that transparency and friend that a new you more good than a sleeping pill. If you don't have assurance if you're doubting your salvation and you giving your heart to Jesus Christ, you better check up and see if perhaps there's some bitterness in your heart some sin in your life is an asset that will destroy your assurance. Look at verses 19 and 20 again and hereby based on the hereby refers to love and hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure hearts before him far far condemn us, God is greater than our heart and with all things, your heart will condemn you and you will map listen.

Have a good conscience do you learn to love when you love when you love. I mean truly love when you made it right you going to have that sweet assurance. So here's the first legacy of love and is going to build one upon another. The first legacy of love is a good conscience is the second legacy of love, not only a good conscience, but a great confidence not notice how one falls into another look in verse 19 and hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure hearts before him far heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart and with all things, beloved, if heart condemn is not that we confidence toward God, confidence, boldness, first of all, my heart doesn't condemn me and all of this is in the context of love. My heart doesn't commitment my heart doesn't condemn me confidence toward God boldness and the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. We say what good is this confidence with this confidence dear friend that you have with God. This confident heart that comes out of a a a clean conscience is what helps you to pray and get your prayers answered.

Look again at this passage of Scripture and I watch this if our heart condemn us not then that we confidence toward God and is all linked together. Verse 22 and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things which are pleasing in his sight. Now what commandments is he talking about what just go down to verse 23. The last part that we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ and love one another as he gave us commandment is what is talking about his answer. Have a good conscience.

What is I do pages are great confidence and you can come to God and asking his name and get your prayer answered prayer is not answered prayer is not just the spots are filled with it is not is not.

It is not Bible says about regard iniquity in my heart. The Lord will hear me that's a prayer promise that we like to quote that's one of the promises that separate from, let me illustrate this spirit (the first Peter chapter 3, Peter is telling husbands and wives how to dwell together as heirs of the grace of life.

I like that phrase the grace of life is, like the cherry on top the grace of life. A happy marriage. Husbands and wives well together as heirs of the grace of life, and he says that your prayers to God be not hindered by me to be a real example of this. You know why for having what little discussions they can be heard. About three blocks away. They get into a look. Sometimes Christians can do this through.

I mean, they get their eyes off the Lord and again one of these things and so and so doing, they are not dwelling together as heirs of the grace of life and then mother goes into check the baby and she comes out and she's got a frightened look on her face is obvious that the baby is very sick and you both believers and you know that you need to pray you feel so silly right now you say we go to pray RI you can. You feel like praying in that atmosphere that hostility that you know what you do is a sweetheart, I'm so sorry I was wrong.

I was a fool call and forgive.

She says will.

It was my fault to your case make up the conscience is clear he assurance is back and you bring that you cannot pray with the condemning heart. I mean if you can't just you cannot have a great confidence and if you have a great confidence you can get your prayers answered just that plane as my job is done is very practical love alive gives a good conscience, and when love gives a good conscience. Love gives a great confidence that it is the third legacy of love and this is reason I told you folks if you were just even selfish. You would want love. It gives a gracious communion. Look at your will. Now verses 23 and 24 and this is his commandment that we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ, and love one another as he gave us commandment. And he that keep with his commandments and well is in him and he in him. That is, you are in Jesus, and Jesus is in you and hereby we know that he abide within us by the spirit which you have given us the abiding spirit. That's the third legacy of love, a gracious communion. The Holy Spirit just whispering to us that we belong to God, the Lord Israel talks that's a minister the Holy Spirit to take the things of Jesus and show them to us. Look when I learned to love and I live my love. I would have good conscience, and when I have a good conscience I will have a great confidence that I have a great confidence. I will have a gracious communion. I mean the Holy Spirit is going to be whispering to my heart that I belong to Jesus Christ and he to meet Bill reason some Christians doubt their salvation. They don't have the witness of the Spirit and how do you know that you say because some preachers told you that your safe heart is God spirit bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God, the Holy Spirit can be there and you can be saved and you can have absolutely no assurance because you failed to love the Holy Spirit just read and you know the minister.

The Holy Spirit is give you joy and peace and understand wisdom and power, grace, Jesus Christ, realtor, you might just want you here on Sunday morning some sermon God in your heart, abiding in the spirit of God, that gracious communion, not merely union but commune you is going to mail that's that were the goes all the way through the book of first John, but now folks limiting this by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is very gentlest time I want you to turn the Scripture, would you turn to Ephesians chapter 4 strength Ephesians chapter 4.

Look, if you will, and verse 26 be angry and sin not by the way, the only way to be angry and send others to be angry at sin be angry and sin not let not the sun go down upon your wrath. That is, husbands and wives don't go to bed angry back to back. Neither give place to the devil. Now when you do that when you have unresolved anger what you've done is just open the door to the devil you said hello.

Come on in, right my home right. My marriage really my life to file my conscience ruined my confidence and destroy my communion. You give him a place to the devil. But now, skip on down in verse 30 says angry mob Holy Spirit when you have a place to the devil what you do when you grieve the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is resident in your heart and your life when you're saved my watchlist and grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Now if you if you have anger in your heart if love is not there. That doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit of God forsakes you.

He cannot he will not you are see by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. You see, that's one of great verses on eternal security sealed by the Holy Spirit. When I watch this. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you with all malice know what grieves the Holy Spirit. These things right here and I want to look at them first of all, he says, bitterness in what bitterness is. Bitterness is an unresolved hurt to hear an unresolved hurt somebody's hurt you somebody's done you wrong, it may be real.

It may be imaginary but you perceive that somebody has done you wrong anybody here like that somebody's hurt you. Maybe child like your father, mother, brother, sister, a boss dear sweet Pastor somebody has done you wrong and you have this now watch this bitterness turns to wrath last night.

Wrath look at it verse 31 bill in order. Wrath means rat has the idea of heat is something burning sort of a slow burn. The best illustration I can give you this is to think of some oily rags in an attic arena calls it smoldering or just the heat building up I watch. First of all there's bitterness and then there's that wrath there is that slow burn, and then he says I'm what's the difference between wrath and anger will wrath is that slow burn. But anger is when somebody opens the door and the oxygen hits those rags and they burst into flame say well I lost my temper probably found no one person says I lost my temper.

What this thing is really not my phone is not really me. I just lost know what is happening folks is that you're showing what's in your heart and watch it bitterness turns to wrath, wrath times anger and what is anger attentive clamor. What is clamor speaking loudly. All shout I'm not shouting. Then you begin to get your voice. Just say things and you get on a rolling and then watch this clamor turns to evil speaking, then you begin to say things you would never have seen which on a roll now and again to save your loved one dear child, hi. We should never been born, and our family to save your parents.

I love you save your husband.

I will not here. I want a divorce. I wish you would devil sustain all law you say these awful terrible terrible please. The Bible calls that evil speaking.

Then he says malice that is that's when evil speaking turns to the desire to hurt somebody to do malice may actually harm the one hurt them financially, emotionally, physically, you may want to abuse them and you may do things and arrange you look back and say how did I do that they hated you and abiding you want, spirit filled, you let the sun go down upon your wrath. You gave a place to the devil, and you received the Holy Spirit grieve the Holy Spirit when you leave the spirit of God. When you grieve him he so gentle if you ever seen somebody spirit just closing. I've done some awful dumb things in my life I've said someplace to Joyce out not to say I just watched her spirit closer Holy Spirit said he's not a lion's you can grieve the Holy Spirit. By the way Holy Spirit is a person, the Jehovah's Witnesses told ladies a person you can grieve and influence.

I can agree that the only real person and by the way, only grief somebody who loves you brief is a lot more your neighbor's kids will vex you your own kids of review. Amen.

You don't you can only grief somebody loves to see the Holy Spirit of God's you when you view the spirit of God is up any withdrawals, and you will have that communion with God, that you all all the legacy of love. When you have a good conscience when you have a great confidence and then you have a gracious communion and I would love to see and a lot of God. The Bible tells us in Romans 55 is shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Ghost mouth it will do you know good whatsoever. If you say well the pastor said to love and I'm going to love so you just great sure teeth and clench your fist and you said going to love if it kills me you don't have what it takes. Love is not the way to God. God is the way to love is more than a turn of phrase you listen carefully now go back to first John chapter 4 verse seven beloved, let us love one another. Now watch this.

Love is of God, that is, it comes from God, and every one that loveth is born of God and with God. He that loveth not know is not God, for God's life. You see, listen only way the only way that you can love is to have the love of God in your hearts they know when that comes whosoever is born of God. Are you born of God.

What is the new birth is not a feeling here's a transaction where you come to the Lord and absolute sincerity you say Lord I was sent and I can't save myself, but I need to be saved. Jesus you died to save me, you promise to save me if I would trust you.

I do trust you will all of my heart come into my heart, forgive my sin and save me. The Bible says in the same book of first John chapter 5 in verse one.

When we believe were born of God is not an emotional matter. It may show any motions which are emotions of the Shah was part of your nature. Salvation is the deepest work of God. He doesn't do the deepest work in the Shah was part you just trust say come in my heart… As a teenage boy I trusted Christ, and I can tell you this and God is listening. From that moment on, there's been a river of love flowing in me and as of him. Love is of God, you will never love your wife. You'll never love your children, you will never love your neighbor as your you give your heart to Jesus. Remember again. Love is not the way to God. God is the way to love in Jesus is the way to the father. What is the legacy of love.

What is the legacy of love is a good conscience a great confidence and a gracious communion that slow blessed our heads and crack heads about an Isaac closing.
