The Mighty Meek | Part 1

That is, it was self-contained. There was enough vegetation enough food enough grain everything that was only island water to sustain life. Not only did they have enough for themselves. Now we're going to read some Beatitudes and these Beatitudes began with that same word Macario's blast that gives you some idea what the word blessing means. It means more than happy. Some translate this happy but it means more than happy. It means having everything that you need.

Having everything that you need spiritually.

That is, being blessed and so the Lord Jesus Christ gives us these Beatitudes are attitudes that ought to be there, not platitudes. They are attitudes and really they deal with Christian character Christian characters what you are. Your reputation as one of us think about you characters, one caught in your wife know about you that this deals with character not blessed are what men have are not blessed what men do, but blessed are Walkman are close friend. Happiness is not something you find by looking for happiness is something you stumble over when you're seeking blessedness friend you seek happiness in you ever find what you get right with God and blessedness will find you here to run you down and this is why Jesus Christ is talking about here in these Beatitudes. He's talking about blessedness listen to it and seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain and when he was set, his disciples came up to him and he opened his mouth and taught them saying blessed Macario. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. And then we come to our text for today. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are the meek for they shall in inherit the earth. What is that mean what is this beatitude were going to talk today on the subject, the mighty meek bum. My meek is one thing that this world would not say is blessed. It is meekness. I mean we are quick way don't like that meekness is a blessing at all. People of this world would say Blessed are the mighty men.

Blessed are the muscleman. Blessed are the mental man. Blessed are the moneyman Blessed are you kinda man except the meek man because we think of meekness as weakness.

But the Bible says blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. What is meekness will imitate what it is not, but partly what it is. It is not weakness put that down big and plain and straight meekness is not weakness. And if you think that meekness is weakness. You goal. We try to be meek, can you find out that meekness is not weak why Jesus said in Matthew chapter 11. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart, you think Jesus is weak Jesus that I meet you think Jesus was weak. If you think that Jesus was weak. Then you read the Bible, where he fasted 40 days and 40 nights alone in the wilderness while beast I like to cease one of you macho men do that Jesus was weak to picture Jesus is making a whip and driving the moneychangers out of the temple Jesus who said foxes have holes and the birds have nest, the son of man hath not where to lay his head. This is back in the Old Testament was Moses Bible says that Moses was the meekest of all a mental mirror before Jesus Christ got here was more than a man using Moses was a wimp. You study life of Moses. I mean, he got in trouble sometimes because of his temperament. One day he was not was a weak man. He was a general who led the children of Israel out of Egypt and the wimp.

Meekness is not weakness. What is meekness is not cowardice, it is not a milquetoast type of character does not weakness the word meek means yielded yielded it literally has the idea of stress under control. There was a man J Wallace Hamilton grown an incredible book that I had in my library for a long time and tide of the book is called ride wild horses that's the title of the book, and he points out that when God made us when God created us when God put us together. God put into our nature. Certain drive certain instincts, certain ambition and then not evil in themselves, but these drives these instincts, these ambitions need to be yielded and he pointed out what I want to point out that the word meekness has the idea of a wild stallion being broken. As a matter fact in that day and sometimes still in this day when a a steed, an animal special force has been domesticated. It has been trained so a rider can set up on its back, or so it can pull the plow. The proper term for that was that that horse that animal that oxen whatever had been meet in EE K ED it had been meet. It had been broken. Now it yields to the rider. Now it feels to be yoke is strata under control is what meekness is. It is a compliant spirit.

You see these Beatitudes come in order first instep is this. Blessed are the poor in spirit. My dear friend that shows our condition we say in myself. I am spiritually bankrupt and then Blessed are they that mourn because after our condition comes our compression.

You see them in ways we say old God have mercy upon me, I see what I am. I weep over I truly repent of it and then after that condition, and that contrition comes that control where I take myself now, Lord, and I place myself under your control.

I am meek, not weak me. Some people think all you don't like it, I would be holy if I would just go to a monastery somewhere, and where a woolly roving and do a chant and and then I'd be holding a frame is no holiness in whole what I want to.

Now I want you to look with me not only about the definition of meekness, but how do you have meet. I mean how do you develop meekness know Jesus said blessed are the meek will work again. I remember there's a sequence. First of all you see yourself as poor in spirit, absolutely bankrupt. Secondly you are broken hearted over my dear friend if you never been broken.
