We certainly hope you have a great time on vacation enjoying himself this morning on kingdom pursuits will going to kind of talk about a couple things going on and I am very forces it said ordinary people. I got the extraordinary Danny Spain. Our in the studio with me this morning and introduce yourself. Well thank you Jerry when I heard ordinary in the preview alike. That's me. My name's Danny Spain our own staff at Pineville Christian church been there almost 29 years now and I do middle and senior adult ministry and then also do missions at Pineville so happy to be here this morning Apple got talk about a couple different things going on in couple opportunities for people to get plugged in and then also one of these will talk about is just an area that really really I think is a neglected part of our society in the way and sort of forgotten what the sacrifices they do and this is opportunity coming on the denizen talk about that through Pinedale and footbridge and also through the Leavitt better projects that ponder for stress does to be able to minister them through Jesus Christ and I'm excited about that and I know a lot of people will be but one of the best is coming up relatively quickly in a few weeks. You know we've gone through a terrible time in this country where churches were locked down from didn't do operate and then slowly opening back up but the whole process and then I'm looking to Danny as a ministry may jump in here because it's just sort of guessing there there that I kept looking for the playbook to turn to page 13 that tells you what to do during a pandemic. When everything shut down and there is none.

That's just you just don't know what to do. We try to do the best we could do to keep people safe. Obviously honor the rules and things from the government but and then to keep people safe is a big thing you know, and so we like so many churches tried to figure out what we could open and when we could open it safely and so kind of seeing that were now being able to come back. I sent a son is an email out to my Sunday school class this past week and I added it up it had been 70.

It's been 70 Sundays.

So 70 weeks since we met together and that's just kind of that number blew my mind because all the sudden 70 sounds biblical from Daniel resident but we haven't met in 70 weeks and you were talking earlier about the fellowship and just meeting together and how important it is and that's something that we have missed and we like so many churches are getting ready to start small groups in Sunday school back then and you know it, and if you are a member when this church that has just encouraged the know and support that church is support the decisions that were made because everybody did send John things are tough, a lot of prayer was put in it and if I did what they thought was best for their congregation with all the information they had so the criticisms were there, but I think you bye-bye did the very best they can do on the circumstances. As I said there was no no manual hide that to what it is so much easier when you turned whatever page and it tells you what to do then if you deviate from that you got enough absolutely. There's not many of us alive today that it ever live through pandemic so we didn't know what to do. So we did the best we could and so ponder will be kicking off their have been open back up what for how long now probably August year now. As far as our worship services, but now were going to kinda start bringing back our small groups. In our Sunday school classes and our Wednesday night programming there so we say justice services to what what you what you want to me. So here in the Winston area. We have been the feeling Winston, we have been with her to worship him Sunday morning worship services at nine and 1015 we've been and we brought those back and so we brought us back about a year ago and so that's where work and spread out the sanctuary and that kind of stuff, but now we started to add back some of our youth and some of our other programs in Sunday schools coming and Wednesday nights coming which is what really talk about. Yes.

So then the for the kickoff and disorder celebrate the fact that were all going back to what is normal program you know what we were used to before the pandemic, what right what was is normal.

Yes, we like to me churches had Wednesday night programming and we are on August 18 were going to kick off with, carnival out my parking lot and we just kind of bringing it, letting everyone know that hey it's time to get going again will fall as school starts back and everyone kinda gets back into routine. That's something we haven't heard about the last year and 1/2. What is routine, as we kinda get back into the pre-pandemic routines are Wednesday nights and becoming were having a big carnivals can go from 5 PM till 8 PM or have all kinds of games and just different things free food there.

You have asked, throwing which is come to be interesting even if safe.

It's in a cage and all that jazz, but it's got it's over an inflatable's and laser tag and all kinds of different things different trucks coming and gaming trucks and just it's gonna be a fun just an event for the say hey Wednesday night to back, but also for the community so we will anyone combine stop by and have a good time. Yeah. And when you suggest Wednesday. Also things really the kickoff for as you mentioned, you emailed your Sunday school class. I think some schools around a meeting right our Sunday school class at Pineville will start back on August 15 and so once again real small groups going again and trying to do in the Safeway and just can't wait to get fellowship and get people back together again and then condos churches had so many small different groups. I know that celebrate recovery, which has continued that operate to a at a different level almost just but still functioning and bid and also you know she's people afraid to get back into the flow and grief share which is a program at Pinedale and divorce care, and then just like say just regular programming that would be good to an end of the churches I know I feel the same thing, just just that and just await being brought off of them to be able to get open back at him way to get back together again, absolutely. And then again we has humans is go back to you know and ask the early church.

The first church in that community of believers is so important that the unit asset. What we all need is that support and and support and also accountability fellow Christians right but a lot of people can get use to watching it from TV and liver placed church and so we were reminded you've Artie set a couple times will remind people that fellowships important and get back in church I get back get not just on just for you but to give to other people have a two-way street. It's we go when we fellowship and work church together only are we receiving from Babel were giving our gifts and were fellowship and with people and and were doing life together think it was the amazing thing about the asked to church was they did life together.

If they saw someone in need. They sold whatever they needed. They did life together to make sure everyone was there taking care of.

And so that's something that we miss when we don't get together and we don't really recognize that until all the sudden you know they sort of that you need yeah yeah well, absolutely. And and you know you talk about that is because I know you do except a lot of Texans staffer group stuff and I do too and it's just and I start getting replies to steps people call me up for something that's going on. I sent an even know that and and this is why notepaper stone and I finally know who to reach out to and step in these need to be able to share that and that's just what God that's the way God wired us and so this is a great opportunity kick it off as you said is stop in a as the whole communities invited not just as a kickoff for Pinedale but also as the kickoff just the whole area to get back to some type of normalcy and how do you is the Vincent be held at Pinedale aside, Pinedale 3395 Peachtree Pkwy., Winston, but then also you can go to Pinedale doctrine and on our website. We have all this listed and find directions and things there. Pinedale.church is another place to go online.

All right. If you have any questions I should give us a call. This is: show eight 663-487-8814 to pursue back with your listening to the network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back thinking emphasis on Jerry Matheson in the studio with me is playing our trip Pinedale church was a lot had to Pinedale and laddies it with that this morning and we just got finished talking about the relaunching party back at Pinedale and things going into that what used to be normal before the pandemic and one of things I know that that process there was a couple things that happened that got canceled and now looks like maybe back on it.

Well I know is back on the schedule and so to give it a snapshot of what help condos involved with the leave it better. What really is. So the springboard is some of this stuff and a lot of the community step that the church does but I'll leave it better projects and this is probably one.

This is probably the maybe one of the bigger things just especially by manpower is one of the big ones will you like a lot of churches get involved in the community Pinedale for last 10 or 15 years been doing the thing we call leave it better. And that's where we try to find places people that we can just go out and help. Just to give them a hand up, not a handout but a hand up and and do in the name of Jesus. And so we try to go help individuals we try to go help different people and what we did two years ago in 2019. We did a dental clinic for veterans and we do that through footbridge footbridge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that's registered that was cofounded by myself and Dr. Don Pruitt was a dentist here in the area. Dr. Pruitt had a passion for ministry through dentistry and he would go and help people in order to then have the right to tell them about Jesus so he would help them in the name of Jesus. And so we cofounded footbridge in 2014 and so footbridge is to just go overseas and do medical clinics, but then in 2019 is when we get our first really local clinic, and we realize that there were a lot of veterans in need and so we offered up that dental clinic for veterans and so we have a couple scheduled last year had to cancel. Obviously because of covert and now in October were going to have our first post pandemic clinic back for veterans and so were brand-new and were name of the Dr. John Pruitt Memorial veterans dental clinic because on April 2. Dr. Pruitt graduated, he went to heaven.

And so this will be a memorial clinic for Dr. Pruitt taking care of veterans and active military because there's a big need their yeah and that it is said earlier, that's a segment I think it just sort of gets just lost in the shuffle when away at me because lifetime just don't visit you don't see that that that that need is there.

Instead, right and center taking care of are there and this might surprise you. Jerry, there's been no what number you look at over 725,000 veterans that live in North Carolina were ranked eighth in the US as far as veteran population so there a lot of veterans around us and of the veterans that live in North Carolina, only about 30% qualify for some kind of dental insurance and so I think sometimes we just think all there taking care of and they're good and all that.

And yet eyes and teeth have you as you've seen in foreign countries eyes and teeth are some of the last things that around the world.

People take care of, but it's also true here eyes and teeth. You don't go to your eye doctors often as you should and you don't go to the dentist even when you do, we usually say I have to go to the dentist. Well, when we do our clinics overseas or we do these for the veterans. They say we get to go to the dentist. It is a privilege and so eyes and teeth are something we will take care of and so we have a big veterans base here in this area in the Triad area and this is open to anyone any veteran any active military would be on October 8, nine and 10 were going this year with three days were trying to spread it out or having fewer dentist were spreading out the chairs were trying to have a safe environment not only for providers but for the volunteers and for the veterans servants out October 8, nine, 10, you can go online footbridge.org footbridge.org and you can sign up and actually sign ups will start on Monday, so this was really good timing that we come in today and talk about this, but sign-ups for veterans with OB opened up online on Monday and you have to have an appointment in order to come.

We don't want people to come. 5 o'clock in the morning and sit all day. We want to set up, like a regular dentist appointment and have an appointment and then come in will take care of your work and provide a dental exam x-ray cleaning and then were and do all we can do and it's all for free for far veterans and set again to what what all services just do a lot of stuff out the real trick you will always have a we are and we will do an initial exam and then will have full x-rays and then after that you will be seen by dentist and anything as much as we can take care of depending on how many people come in time will grow try to cure as many things as we can at last time we did a lot of extractions. We did partials were able to make some partials and for people partials. We did root canals.

We do a lot of restorations and it was pretty cool. You mentioned earlier there's a lot of volunteers.

We had 256 volunteers that helped us pull off this clinic in 2019. But those 256 people saw 363 veterans. The last two years ago we did two days and we saw 363 veterans clinic cost us about $17,000 just to get all the stuff together but we provided over $300,000 worth of dentistry and it was all free for veterans because they deserve it. As you said earlier they deserve to be doing care of absolutely in and reset then you think about that in nobody nobody likes going to the dentist. No, no, but as you said, you know, it is said that we always neglected stuff and then whenever you're in a position of some these veterans a step man.

It is just huge because I talked about going foreign missions step in that middle one year.

The week before I got to Jamaica Dellwood done a dental clinic as of the word was getting out and I think was at broadleaf and I was up on a chair, put the tarp up and his guy came up with his face wrapped up and pulled it off. Then like it had watermelon and is all swelled up on Norfolk opposed teeth and I'll get your weekly body. Yes, this is you know it is certainly at needing step in and whenever and again how you get signed up and stepsister sorted slowly step through that just so perceived your right is good time and then and how long with a sign that. The Azera cut out for her to sign up until all the sponsor for trying to see over 500 veterans and active military in those three days, so if you're a veteran and just watch her teeth cleaned her teeth look bad.

Go to footbridge.org and they'll pop up and then you can sign up there starting on Monday. The appointments open up they are and so the appointments are every hour and see you to sign up for a slot and we'll see how that goes out last time we were able to add a family member but for right now were going open it up first for veterans and active military and see how that goes from C 500 footbridge.org you can go to that site on Monday and sign up for an appointment will get that out there and get on the website or something so we can make sure that is so to get it. How do how you get in contact with the veterans. I may not yet have a means to be able to let them know that that the that the clinic is going on and how do you get that word out right were going through a lot of the different VFW's Veterans of Foreign Wars and all the different several of different veteran groups around the Triad area and were trying to get posters and info out to their to their post so they can know this.

We have emails from two years ago for people that we saw that through the clinic two years ago were to send them an opportunity to come and see how we were amazed at in 2019 that some of the veterans that were coming. They hadn't been seen by dentist in 10 or 15 years. One guy said I haven't seen dentist and since I left the military because when you exit the military they give you a full physical and he said I it's been 15 years since I've seen dentist and so it really is. It's amazing you think here in the United States that you have to worry about this kind of stuff. And yet we do. So that's why were offering this yeah and you know you're involved in an admissions work in Stefan S as you mentioned, just your words of saying you don't think about that United States and step as we kind of in a way mentally shield ourselves from some of the things in the shortcomings that that are out there in Stefan and the veterans are deftly pay that on the front line of that in and this is certainly me today, but you you think about it, I because I can remember years ago getting involved with the not love missions. I love going onto a love love going to Jamaica love supporting missions and staff because I think it's what God calls us to do. For one thing, but being involved with first mission works. I was involved with with this was West Virginia coal.

My mission and I was so shocked that within its right here couple hour drive from Winston-Salem was people live in in that state of your poverty and and and everything else and and not heaven. I will live in, and hopelessness is a question earlier and we we kinda think that that's not local that that has been granted at the United States as a whole. We are blessed when you compare ourselves to other nations and other countries.

We are blessed as a whole, and yet there are still needs here and I think as part of we is followers of Jesus Christ and his Christians, we need to be in tune to that because there's always people you know what, I just don't feel God ever calls me to go out of the out of the country, our God never calls me to go on the mission field may not. You don't have to drag right you don't have to go out of the country probably don't have to go out of your stay open up your front door. There's the mission field absolutely and and even if you say well you know what, I'm not able to even do that. You know what, find a especially a church I'm unit is plenty of organizations out there that are started doing a lot of good things in Stefan a lot of great organizations that are meeting a lot of needs most. How when you get plugged into a church, the majority of that goes on note for Palmdale. Specifically, missions can contributions goes 100% absolutely go in for our churches, 20, 25% almost of all the money that comes in each year and it goes to missions. Yes form but then a lot of local ministries as well. So if you can't go overseas. Go out your front door. If you can go at your front door. As you said, get involved with the church are place that will go with you and for your vacuum.

Although Venice continue to dive into the dental clinic and also some to set the score known as far as opportunity for you to serve in ministry and in missions. Have a great one and will see that on the other side of the you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to King to pursuits this morning. I got dentist thing our kind of person talk about that coming up and also talk about a relaunch party for Palmdale and also a lot of other immunities in a lot of areas that are in the listening area are also relaunching in getting back to normal, but also this morning from. I know it's beautiful Florida this morning. Have Amy cobble who's going to come in and give us that little bit to take a what her programs are to be about this morning Amy how you doing this morning Robert rat a lot of acting out arrogant like white building your account and extract air, but most black people in My work being the only kind of destructive Island and crying and kicked around and there are cracks in the trade, cost, crown crying, contact compassion, talk about how learning acting will I know to be a great show and look forward to hearing it in you. What Amy that Tommy on the radio and I just can't imagine how many people get a blessing from that and just thank you for that.

If you go to that website and scroll down your be able to see that that link for the conversations and you'll see it or come up with that the people that work came in his gas to one of his Nikita Cole if I encourage you to go look at that are that and really just just here Nikita's heart and what got up to where God brought them to where he is now with the man up broadcast on on Truth Network also you needed that Robbie Gilmore fixes a mentioned he's doing is podcast Davin into Psalms 119. Also, he is one of the gas that Matthew sat down with in your be able to hear Robbie story and how God was able to walk him through the journey of life that put them where he is now so that's Palmdale.church click tone and scroll down and you see conversations click on it, you'll see some great guest room. There Mark Garreau with PRN. Ray seen that David Mathis, former PGA golfer still golfer Dan Calhoun with that purple crow doing them just to any Bowersox with energized ministry man. What an awesome ministry he has and stuff so I just encourage you to Frank Meekins, former anchor TV anchor and also would locally I think it was channeled to Debbie if and why I think, and then he was in Chicago area man I encourage you to just just listen those they would deftly be worth your time and encouragement. Now back to the dental clinic.

As you mentioned, I'm sitting here I'm thinking okay will talk about.

Hopefully see in three days, 500 veterans menaced a large number of three days of commitment. So, imagine you got to have a light egg save a lot of work. It takes a lot of volunteers as a set earlier when we get a clinic in 2019. We had 256 volunteers and we can start the top because the dentist harbor. Everyone's important and yet the dentist or, most important at a dental clinic. So if you are a dentist and would like to serve our pure part of the medical profession. If your hygienist or dental assistant or nurse. We'll be because we check their blood pressure and all that we we need and we are signing up folks right now from the medical professions and dentist if your dentist are you asking Dennis to volunteer for a day were asking to take one of those days and volunteer yeah and so is absent here and listen. I don't know who was listening this broadcast this morning but if you're working on the dental field and give us a call and Daniel get your number are our dark absolutely I can go straight to footbridge.org and we already have the sign-ups it sitting there for the dentist in the medical professionals so we can mark if you're like I call myself a grant if you just want to come and help as a grunt of the sign-ups we can go to footbridge and this let us know if you wanting to help and we will we will find a place because what we did. One of things that was really cool last two years ago as we assigned an advocate with each veteran and so when they come in the door, we would say hey Jerry, here is your veteran.

His name is Mike or whomever and you walked Mike through the process you went from station to station to get them checked and get where his blood pressure to this to that and you just got to talk to him got to meet him and so an advocate was a great role and we needed folks to do that so it was a 256 volunteers. That's what it takes a lot and yet we were able see 363 veterans so it's pretty cool and so if you're lucky and in the dental field and going to footbridge try to get Dorothy at the 85 a call Palmdale and they make sure get that information can my call this morning gives your number, we can make sure we can get you use because you could deftly be a blessing to somebody and can deftly be used.

Also, if you are veteran listen to this and you need to some information or are didn't catch all that stuff Danny went over our what ever give us a call will take you number down and get back with you. Make sure you get get you know on the right track and get you pointed in the right direction. You mentioned that volunteers for the Dennis and I went out on if you remember this or not there was a Dennis and I wish I Could tell you his name but I can't. That I was volunteer and help in and on Sunday got came through the back door at the GM where they were final and people in not knowing anything, but he wanted to know where to go to volunteer because he was a Dennis and send them to the room with her taken snacks. I think Danny you were in their next thing I know I came up with someone and he was over only chair just a work and we found him a chair.

I remember that story I caregiver his name but he saw. We did a piece on the VXI and he saw that morning that we were helping veterans and he was a veteran himself.

He said I beg to be a part of that and so he came down and so we checked out his license and he was real and so we found them a chair and he help seasoned veterans that day was a really cool story. Yeah, it absolutely was and so, as you mentioned how much I might take that you just go initially. Here's probably more of a to be closer to your heart kind of question a month though is I know this is John Pruitt Memorial clinic and just what does that mean it in and I know you mentioned how John was and that was so important to him.

Dr. Pruitt you duct proves an incredible dentist God gave him skills and he was a great dentist. He was a Christian, though Dr. proved to me showed us how whatever you are. If you run a body shop. If you run a wrecker service he run a radio station, you can be a Christian. At that and you will influence people in that area. You can influence if you choose to, and Dr. Pruitt was one of those that absolutely was a great dentist exactly my personal dentist is a great dentist, but he would always allow Christ to flow through him. I seldom did you go and see him and he not ask you, what about your walk or tell you about missions and give you a chance to talk about Jesus Christ and so these are great clinics yes were helping veterans who need help, but were doing it in the name of Jesus will be the hands and feet. We want to show Christ in one of the things that happened at our clinic in 2019 order have that again here in 2021 as we had people that would go around and pray with ask nicely. Can we pray with you is giving questions anything like that with 31 people come to know Jesus Christ through our clinic two years ago. We hope many that many are more this time as well. Price is a part of all of this SSS. The amazing part of the story is how God uses us a step back in a moment with kingdom pursue and explain our and just a great morning. Enjoyed it and God is good. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to kingdom pursue some Jerry Mathis with anything now or in the studio with me and we talked about veterans being sort of the one of those groups people that kind of get neglected in a way another group of people that kinda get neglected and why your single mothers and widows in step with Jesus labor of love, but we do car repairs and also even replacing cars is one take a moment just to just to mention that if you are sending your listening and that no over the weeks and the months and the years of hearing the stories how God is been able to use Jesus labor of love tab to provide transportation for single moms. We don't realize how important transportation is and how important that vehicle wears, especially if you're a single mom and I and and and having to deal with that and what a blessing that can be so if your listening hand, I'd always say do not never ever take money from your local church but looking to put some money somewhere else you can send it in years that there's a link on their website for Jesus labor of love for donations.

Also, if you got a vehicle or something that you want to donate a give a psychologist put that in there love to have you anticipate now back to the dental clinic as we mentioned in his Danny is set in here and before we wrap up I want to make sure we kinda go over how to get signed up again and where the location is in the dates and all that stuff. But you know I just know there is some pretty cool stories that is came out of these clinics absolutely remember back to years ago we had a veteran of Chicago that heard about our clinic is mom lives here and heard about our clinic and she said now would be good time to visit and so the veteran flew down, saw his mom came to our clinic got his teeth taken care of and just kind of did all that in one trip and I thought that was really cool.

He won the award for the veteran became the first had one drive up from Myrtle Beach with a lot of different people that were able to be part of this and that's where we saw the need was that importance. That's why we want to do another veterans clinic. Like you said we had to cancel last year because of covert, but work October 8, nine and 10 to be a kind of Christian church for the Dr. John Pruitt Memorial veterans dental clinic and sign-ups for veterans start this Monday so if you're veteran or you know a veteran help them get to footbridge.org and you can find the sign up there and I we sign up there's appointments every hour starting at 8 o'clock through 4 o'clock on Friday and Saturday and then 8 o'clock through 2 o'clock on Sunday so they can go to footbridge.org and sign up and then that's one side of this. The other side of this is if your dentist we would love to have you volunteer one of those days. If you're part of the dental world. If your hygienist or dental assistant or whatever. We would love to have you volunteer these are great men and women to help the veterans coming there so thankful we got a thank you note on readers were quick from our last clinic and it said my teeth have never hurt so bad and felt so good all on the same day. Thank you all for setting this up and taking such good care of us old war dogs.

I think that's cool are so appreciative the veterans and you get to meet them hear their story and you to take care of them be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ and as we said right before we went to the break. 31 people came to know Jesus Christ through this clinic two years ago and silver have people there. I will pray with them and talk to them about anything they need to talk about, especially in Jesus Christ. And so it just it's a win-win in so many different ways and then you mentioned also point the breakout unit. No matter what God what field you're in God can use you absolutely and and we set did you see that all the time. I and I know one on a mission trip. You'll see people that you think you know what really you know where they fit in on this is amazing how God works and orchestrates things. I was just talking last week to a young lady that went on to make a trip who's in her fashion issues. A teacher and she went up the mountain one. One evening with you Danny and use it to stop. This is this this is a school right here not think anybody was in a be there but one of the teachers was there and she is still in communication with her. To this day they text each of the other back in step but she said when I when I didn't really know where I was unplugging and and what I was in the do and how couples in the bay. You know what it made. Not only was I able to pluck a serve, but God want me to do, but it made me realize how through my career, I need to be serving God and that's you allow God to use you. He can use you anywhere as apparent as your profession as whatever and you'll be surprised at how God can use you if you allow yourself.

Yeah, I know we don't have much time is winding down. But I'm also going to share another story with a young lady that went on the trip who was on the mistral. What profession you call it, but she was sign language and stuff and I never knew she she's a friend of my daughter and I never even knew that this is what she did but a child came up at one of the church they were doing VBS who had not even been diagnosed as being a offended learning sign language and was just had no hope.

Though her world was dark and this young lady.

I remember that day because the little girl was bouncing all over the place or like well I think we found our trouble child for this vacation Bible school. It was because she was deaf and her dad came in and explained she's deaf and so we were like when we don't know what we can do for her. One of the ladies could sign and now she is indexable she is still medicine continuing on. Even to this day.

The little girl is indexable. Don't miss those opportunities. But God is going to be able to use you again Danny real quick.
