"It's always about the money ..."  is a statement caregivers are well served to remember— particularly when caring for someone else's family member.

This caller discovered that she has more than one problem following a stint of taking care of a man she considered a "grandfather" - but wasn't.

Esther Texas Esther good morning, how are you feeling at that point and thank you to me was school. Well, somewhat of a long story, but I might have a lot of time for a long story district will begin to lose you find out we were caring for my grandpa on a five-month, not my biological grandfather came into my life and I was a young kid in and he is 90 Hathaway and he had a little bit of cash reserves, which you know we had ended up using for you know his care and now that he path we were also investigated by APS. The family you know wanted to make sure we were out. We want to be using an which we weren't, and they in her name at me and everything was okay but now the family wants to sue us now in another state and I was just wondering what your experience has been with.

I mean if you are the investigated and the case is closed, is, is there any way for them to continue to pursue will always pursue these questions. Are you protected who called EPS. It was the daughter. So what was the daughter not taking care of this.

This individual while he let the string daughter for quite some time and now she wants is money correct and I mean are you that I knew it, we leave the court care and you have received everything.

No and so you kid show was that money went correct. So would you use it on on 24 hour care by work and my husband will. It was who was who was provided the 24-hour care service or nurse and somebody that we had. We had very, very difficult about what did you ask how did you pay those people, how did you pay those people with cash with his money running check, cash, or what my cat wanting to have the finances when it would be 24 hour care with cash is that what you tell me yeah okay you get to problems.

One of them is that you have no record of what you did with this money. The second problem is you pay people with cash that needed to be paid with a check or something to track it for it to provide a 1099. You know that the payroll tax overcome stuff so this woman can could come after you. You guys have really no way of being able show what you did with the money and it's always about the money and follow the money you've earned those phrases before. So what you and your husband are going to have to probably do is go back and account for every dime of that and that's going to take a lot of work on your part, but you can have to do it. You obviously let the money just come to filter out the cash you have directed you to have to do some detective work on that and you're probably going to need some good legal counsel on this and maybe even a good CPA. I'm sorry but you are at risk and you are vulnerable for this. If you can't show that you spend his money properly, and instead just that what we we pay cash for everything that's that's going to be a little bit challenging for you to be able to stand up even if this daughter is way out of bounds and you were doing the work and you are taking care of it. That still his daughter and you guys went through his money and you don't everything to show for it on paper so go back and see if you can find any receipts and put them all together as much as you possibly can do some forensic work.

This daughter may be just a real jerk, but you don't want the court to see a different way option, for, but it's a good counsel that was before you go any further, start doing some forensic work of this is Peter Rosenberg. I've got to go over time.
