Well, chapter 9. I would like to make an announcement to be going into what is widely considered to be the most difficult piece of prophetic literature in all of Scripture. We are about to go into probably and I think very widely accepted and acknowledged as one of the most difficult periods of scriptural interpretation. I'm also going to tell you the good news. I don't consider it to be the most difficult not because I'm standing here saying to you that I think that I know because you've already judged. By now all these years that I certainly do not. But I say to you that in Daniel chapter 9, and particularly beginning from verse 24 we read about one of the most awesome periods of prophetic Scripture.

All Scripture and if we do not understand who God is speaking to what God is saying what he is saying and exactly what it is that he is saying, I will guarantee you will find ourselves out in the left field somewhere.

I'm going to say this to you and then we going to read this passage.

This passage is written by God through the heart of God to the people of God who would Israel.

We understand that our friends we going to say this and I'm going to say this, a number of times because it we understand that this prophecy is direct to the Jewish people began arriving all kinds of problems and I'm going to show you how we know that this is direct to do the Jewish people. It is written specifically, Israel, and in general it is applied to the Gentiles like you and me. All Israel has transgressed your morning turned away, refusing to obey you. Therefore, the curses and sworn judgments written in the law of Moses the servant of God had been poured out on us because we have sinned against you. You have the word spoken against us and against our lives by bringing upon us right disaster under the whole heaven. Nothing has ever been done like what is being done to Jerusalem just as it is written in the law of Moses. All this disaster has come upon us yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your cruise. The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster upon us, the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does.

Yet we have not obeyed him now, the Lord our God who brought your people of Egypt with a mighty hand you made for yourself a name that endures to this day we have soon we have done wrong. Oh Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts turn away from your anger and your Ross from Jerusalem. Too many times. Let me just simply say this to you. It is very important for us to understand the things that Daniel is about to see. Verse three chapter 9, so I turned to the Lord, we come to grips with real intercessory prayer we must begin by turning away from ourselves and we going to see how this works out in just a moment and we need to about-face and turned completely toward God.

That means that our focus and out tension needs to be on the things of God. I don't want to pick on my bed but that always used to just really when I was growing up and I know it may sound ridiculous to some of us here but but I grew up hearing this coming from my father's study. I'm telling you morning after morning, if not almost every morning my dad would be in his study on his knees, and you could hear him pray. You could hear this kind of drone going through the house.

That's what I grew up with and if if you would peeping to dad study which we did offer that was on his knees that Eddie's Eddie's disk ready's chair just pouring his heart out and on Sunday morning. I'm tell you it was baby, you know, in fact, I kind of almost presented some things in away because I was a preacher's kid and I kind of felt like our home resembled more of a mold than a bit on. I mean it just it was just so full with prayer in preparation do not. I'm sorry and for a teenager. It was kind of aggravating. I mean, I wanted to get out there and do something, but my my father believed that if he was to come into the house of God and into the presence of God and if he was to be able to present the word of God was from on high that he needed to away from himself to God and he need to focus his attention on God's grace, I will not work will go to a ballgame and go to bed late and get up at the last possible moment to will rush off and get to church at the latest possible moment).

The gong strikes and all these things and believe me, we understand that it happens in my household and we are so busy and tied up and many of us coming and we sit down in God's house and we say we might okay let's have church. One of the greatest blessings we have in this church is our television ministry wouldn't change it for anything but it's not a total blessing because it causes the clock to control us. If you going to bang on chapter 9 you begin to understand this intercessory prayer is punctuated with banking pleading, pouring his heart out here prayers and petitions in verse 17 verse 16 all in verse down in verse 19 want to listen to forgive you.

Here we without hope. Outside of time tomorrow, but the simple phrase, Daniel turned to God right where you are right you need to turn away from the path that is taken away from her away from her.
