R666 Presenting the Son Pt.5

I hope that you are ready with your Bibles open because we are going to be starting something today that defies human understanding, let's turn in our Bibles to Hebrews chapter 1 Hebrews chapter 1, I submit to you that when you present the son concerning the superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ. We learned a great deal. We've learned that he is the image of the father. All we know that the son is the one through whom all things have been made. We know that he sustains all things by the power of these would amongst many other things.

We've also come to understand that Jesus Christ is the exact image of God.

We know that he is the radiance of God's glory. I believe that before we getting diverse full. There is a sensing which we coming to the crescendo of the announcement concerning Jesus Christ and I want to read to you, just one short statement right at the end of verse three of Hebrews chapter 1 does what God's word says Jesus Christ sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. What it's like. Often he had made purification for sins we learn that the Lord Jesus Christ took a seat. Several things just looking at that without even beginning to try to understand.

We know that we are talking about the Lord Jesus Christ. We know number two that he sat down we know number three that he sat down at the right hand of Majesty, which somewhat perplexes me because I know that this one the Lord Jesus Christ is God interesting that the one who is God would take a seat beside himself sat down at the right hand.

We also know that this is the throne room because he took a seat at the right hand of Majesty also know that this took place in heaven.

That's we know where it is and so it is that there is a salmon attribute but God makes the Lord Jesus Christ and it simply this, that Jesus Christ is the right hand of God, like the right hand of God or he becomes the right hand of God. He is the right hand of God in this morning beloved friends.

What we're going to do is quite simple.

I bossed the question today and the question is simply this.

Why did Jesus sit down, we must understand here that we're talking about the son of God.

Why was it necessary for the Lord Jesus Christ to sit down. What is this all about what possibly could God be trying to teach us and to say to us when you join me as we pray for a brief moment father we've come once again to a passage that we have many times quoted. We love to talk about this when we pray and we walked to do so. We believe it. Father, we do not question the fact that Jesus sat down at your right hand, we take you at your word and father. We also recognize that it is not necessary for us to understand everything about you all that we could ever understand everything about you because your God. But if you would be so pleased with your spirit open our hearts and give our spiritual understanding.

Today beginning with this pasta Lord help me to be able to share very clearly the things that you've put in my heart because some of them are very difficult to understanding and then Lord for the things that we still do not understand. Give us spiritual acceptance in my spiritual acceptance strengthen our faith because we have put our trust in you asking these things because of the one who is seated at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Lord Jesus, a man why did Jesus sit down at the right hand of God not to give to you this morning. Five reasons why he did this and I am no doubt that we will find probably a number of others, and I certainly will often today and I'll keep sign. Why did not see this. I'm not going to submit to you that we going to cover all bases. Today, but I'd like us to have a closer look today at why Jesus sat down at the right hand of God. Number one, number one because it was a sign of honor. It was a sign of honor. I don't know if you've ever been in the company of the famous people I've had a few occasions in my life to me very important to me even very famous people. It's quite an awesome thing ready to be in the company of very famous people. I remember one time many years ago I was in Edinburgh, Scotland, and I was on Princess Street. For those of you that know Edinburgh, Scotland. Just walking there minding my own business and all of a sudden here come all the police because in Scotland Yard, and stop right in front of me. I thought this is that this has to be my big day.

Big all-black call directly in front of me. The door open and out popped Princess Diana, I thought coming to talk to me. I can't get over this. I remember just standing there because they were people running everywhere and trying to get there.

The security would try to stop everybody and I just stood my ground and I said, if only the rest of the people new here that she had actually come to see me. I wouldn't be bothering themselves. She walked straight toward me, and when she got right to as far as his pooper. The way I said hello. She said hello Don are not shooting. She just she said hello. I said how you she said very well thank you and she was go into the shop, there was a shop right behind me and it had all kinds of curtains and stuffing it. I and laced things and everything hanging all over the windows number. The police didn't try and stop the people who are in there they didn't actually mount, but they wouldn't let anybody else going and so I stood there for about 4045 minutes right there where I was never moved. There was security at the door and I watched her through the window she went looked at stuff like my wife does and held us up and she talked to people and I thought how fortunate the people were that were actually in the store.

Got to screen 40 minutes with Princess Diana and then often she was done she came out when she woke by me said to leader I you know something. Folks if she had stopped and said to me which to come and have a good old cup of tea with me. I probably would've gone, folks, I would've called my wife. First, just to check up if it was all right of someone who is just important you know what it is when you come into the presence of someone who is important and I invite you to take a seat. It's one thing to stand and talk to someone that is important.

It's another thing entirely for that person to invite you to sit down. I want to show you something here in Scripture.

Let's turn in our Bibles to John's Gospel in chapter 5. Everybody turn they very quickly. John chapter 5 Jesus had one of those encounters with the Sadducees and the Pharisees and everybody else were trying to discredit him. They will obviously would try to accuse him of blasphemy because of all that he said concerning God the father and his relationship to him.

But in John chapter 5 something interesting happens.

Verse 17 Jesus said my father is always at his work to this very day and I too am working I'm going to carry on in a moment. In verse 19, but I do want to say this to you, my friends. At this point.

Jesus made it very clear when he said I and my father are one. If you've seen me, you seen the father that watch what happens here in verse 19 Jesus said, I tell you the truth this summer you can do nothing by himself. He can do only what he sees his father doing, because here is what the father does. What's the next statement. The sun does also not just watch. Keep your finger on me if the father says yes, what is the son's life. Yes, if the father says no, what is the son say no. If the father says, what is the son say, if he says go go. That's what Jesus Christ is trying to say that I love the Lord Jesus Christ and I understand that God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit are three in one.

If you do not understand the triune God you going to have great difficulty trying to understand that the one who is God, became separated from God took upon himself the sin of the world. Given my statement.

Why do you think Jesus sat down. It was a sign of honor in two respects. First of all, it was a sign of honor from the father to the son. It was a sign of honor from the father to the son, but second the bullet was a sign of honor from the sound of the father. There is something remarkably special and deeply spiritual that is occurring.

The moment Jesus Christ enters back into not wanted Jesus say what in God's sight of Jesus when he was baptized. The spirit came upon him, and God said, speaking from heaven. This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Now, by the way you going to be interesting to know today that that statement there is quite literally the common rule of God's upon the son. So what is happening in heaven. The work is finished. The ministry continues but the of God is climatically established and that incredible number two, number two. It was a sign of authority. I want you to go to first Peter in the New Testament. First Peter in chapter 3. Not only was this a sign of honor, but it was a sign of authority first Peter chapter 3 and I'm going to look at verse 22. The latter part of verse 21 and then verse 22. Thank you for looking in your Bibles with me. God is about to say something here through his Spirit. Peter puts it like this.

He says it is the Lord Jesus Christ, who has saved you by virtue of his having conquered death by virtue of his resurrection has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand with angels, authorities and powers all in submission to him. You see my friends number one the right hand of God symbolizes his authority this seat at the right hand of God symbolizes the absolute authority of the Godhead with all the honor that creation pays and is due to Majesty how want you to just think about this for a moment. It's remarkable.

I grew up in Africa amongst the Zulu people of the Zulu tribe in Africa some the finest people you've ever made, and if you go back and you look at the history of the Zulu people.

You cannot but help study about the great kings of the Zulu nations. There were people like King being gone. It was a sign of his absolute authority.

Hebrews chapter 10 verse 12 is a summary of the Old Testament and of the New Testament just simple as that. He was the God man. He understood dizziness. Do you know that Jesus got worn out there many times he just got in the boat. He said take me on the other side. There are more now you know that Jesus got so worn out a ladies had not went to sleep in the middle of a big storm on the Sea of Galilee, he became weary. He took on the form of a fetus do not suppose that Jesus Christ became awfully busy when he allowed himself to be pushed down the birth canal and be born in Bethlehem's mind did not suppose that Jesus Christ became awfully busy when he went through the rigors and the Mons of childhood, when he began to go through puberty and became a teenager did not suppose that Jesus Christ became awfully busy when he allowed DOS to form upon his feet when he went around healing the sick, making the lame to walk again and the blind to see, not suppose that the Lord Jesus Christ became awfully busy when he trudged around those mountains and broke bread and fed 5000 do not suppose that Jesus Christ became awfully busy and exasperated in trying time without number two.
