Enjoy it, share it, but most of all, thank you for listening and for choosing The Truth Podcast Network. This is the Truth Network encouraging prayer, God offers an open invitation for his people to talk with him at any time about anything on encouraging prayer Dr. James Banks, author of the best-selling prayer for profit and many other books on prayer provides weekly biblical insight help you learn to love and now only if we got a great topic for you on today's prayer today were to look at the secretive praying well for others not playing well with others, but praying well with others.

What we pray will for Robbie. Let me ask you were your ears ringing this morning.

We usually save it when others are talking about us in James you talking about me. I sure was good morning America to carry that reprint your career. Give student peace church and she said Robbie is so nice to you got to do something for them. I thought you know she's right because you are sincerely grateful for your friendship and that brings us to our topic today as soon as I thought about doing something for you. One of the first things you came to mind was praying for you so you know I was not only talking to my wife about you. I was talking to God. Such as my tires ring. Well thank you James. So now I'm even more curious to me what you think is the secret to praying well for others, you could send that up in one little word on time is really one of the best gifts we can give to her family to her friends to anyone.

If you put prayer time together. Oh, that's a powerful combination. So I'm assuming you're talking about more than just blessing be with the praying. I'm glad you bring that up.

That's the way we pray when we were in a hurry. We really don't know what to say. Lord, bless my friend and be with her and now that's a better course are listed here that all the while it's good training for them. I don't want to take anything away from that. I just wonder if we couldn't add a little to that kind of pray and by that you mean time right so how would you suggest we do that instead of just saying blessing be with her, even coming to God with one specific request for someone take a moment literally takes several minutes you can cover a lot of ground in prayer in just five minutes and that's what I was doing for you this morning all kinds of things came to mind for me to pray for you about and I believe that God was really helping me with just just putting things on my heart and mind as I was thinking about you, as for the cool suggest taking time you're also like kind of waiting before God slips things in your mind right yeah that's exactly right. This is a really cool exercise to try for someone just decide to take five minutes.

Do nothing other than pray for that person on your mind think about them before God, not just her needs, but maybe things you love about them or dreams and goals that they may have an especially, of course, pray about their relationship with God, but just you know just be free and easy and let God lead you I can tell you that as a pastor when others are praying for me. You know at some length man. I can feel it. So true. I mean, when you see an example of this kind of prayer in the Bible will one my favorite examples of this is the longest prayer in the New Testament which is Jesus prayer for his disciples and also for us and for all believers within John 17 and it goes on for 26 verses in the verses and John are usually fairly lengthy except that one… Jesus wept to write what you see there again is Jesus is taking time and I think praying like this just setting aside time, not topics, but time is a really Christlike way to pray because again we see him doing yes you do. I think of the verse that says Jesus went up the mountain to pray and spend the night praying to God exactly and and I also think about what he told the disciples in the garden of Gethsemane. Couldn't you watch and pray with me for for one hour we look at where his emphasis is he isn't saying.

Could you watch and pray with me about what is about to happen is about to be crucified know he puts it.

Interestingly, in terms of time. While that is interesting observation James in it and it makes sense because this is something that we learn in any relationship taking time really shows we care right thing to think about it it's it's the every day moments that make up a life, not the big ones mean those are great but if you go those you love the gift of time you you giving of yourself and that's really putting your heart into your prayers.

Thanks James on this. I mean just be with God without a list praying for those I care for and whatever he puts on my heart often so if my ears start ringing. I might have you to thank you Betsy but for a father, thank you for my friend. Thank you for just the chance to pray for each other. For this gift that you give us to give to share with others. Help us to help us to love you and love others just spending time with you on their behalf.
